USEFUL HINTS
•The original appearance and softness of fabrics
such as velvet or wool, or gloves, bags etc. can
be restored by passing the iron a short distance
away with the steam jet in operation.
• To remove the marks left by furniture and resto-
re carpets to new, allow the steam to penetrate
into the flattened pile and brush lightly.
• Do not rest or use the iron on zips, hooks, rings
etc to avoid scratching the plate.
• Keep the surface of the plate clean. To clean,
when cold, wipe the surface with a damp cloth.
The iron must never be treated with descaling
products.
• After use, always wait for the iron to cool down
before putting away.
Avoid touching the water tank while the iron is
hot.
• Store the iron in a dry place.
• It is not necessary to empty the tank after iro-
ning. However, the appliance should be drai-
ned of water if left unused for long periods.
• Separate clothes according to the recommen-
ded ironing temperature and begin ironing
with items requiring the lowest temperatures.
• Silk may be dry-pressed on the reverse.
• Wool, cotton and fine linen can either be
steam-ironed on the reverse or on the right
side, interposing a thin cloth between the iron
and the fabric to avoid “shine”.
Starched fabrics require greater moisture. Iron
whites and light colours on the right side and
dark colours on the reverse. Embroidery should
also be ironed on the reverse to make it stand
out.
• Linen can be steam-ironed with abundant
steam. Iron dark colours on the reverse to avoid
“shine”. Iron lapels on the right side to make
them stand out.
• Each time the iron is used (including for the first
time) or if you have not used the steam for
several minutes, press the steam discharge but-
ton several times away from the ironing board.
This will eliminate cold water from the steam
circuit.
• This iron for domestic use is fitted with a special
device to obtain either steam discharge over
the whole plate or concentrated in one point.
If you require steam discharge over the whole
plate, press the steam discharge button (2) with
the iron in a horizontal position.
Hold the button (2) down and move the iron
into a vertical position to obtain continuous
steam discharge over the whole plate.
If, on the other hand, you require steam
discharge concentrated in one point, push the
steam discharge button (2) with the iron in a
vertical position. To obtain point discharge in a
horizontal position, hold the button down.
• The separate iron mat and cable wand (for
mounting either on the right or left, see fig. 2)
provided with certain models enable the
appliance to be arranged as you wish.
Note: use the iron mat on the ironing board
only.
INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE
STEAM IRONING
Before steam ironing, make sure the fabric is suita-
ble for this kind of ironing. The machine works with
normal tap water. In the event of very hard water
(hardness above 27°F) we suggest using distilled
water diluted 50% with tap water. Never use distil-
led water alone. Never use chemical substances or
detergents (eg perfumed water, essences, descaling
solutions, etc).

Filling the water tank and connecting to the mains
Make sure the mains lead is unplugged from the
mains socket. Remove the tank and the cap, then fill
with water. Replace the cap.
Place the iron rest in a raised position (fig. 1), lif-
ting it by the special indents on both sides.
Plug into the mains socket.
Functioning
Press the ON-OFF switch (14) to turn power to the
steam generator on. The “steam ready” and "steam
generator on" (11) indicator lights come on.
Press the ON-OFF switch (13) to turn on the iron.
The “iron at temperature” (4) indicator light and
“iron on” indicator light (10) come on.
NB: When used for the first time, the appliance
may give off smoke and an odour for several
minutes. This is caused by heating and subse-
quent drying of the sealers used in assembling
the steam generator and iron. You are recommen-
ded to ventilate the room.
It is normal to hear the noise of the pump con-
veying the water to the steam generator.
Position the thermostat regulation knob (3) in the
area shown in figure 1 or 2 (according to the
model) depending on the type of fabric to be iro-
ned (fig. 2). Wait for the "steam ready" (8) and
"iron at temperature" (4) indicator lights to go out
before starting ironing.
NB: both indicator lights will go on and off during
ironing, according to the temperature reached by
the steam generator and iron. This is part of the
normal functioning of the iron and not a cause for
concern.
During steam ironing, it is normal to hear the
water pump come on and go off. This is due to
transfer of water from the tank to the steam
generator. It is part of normal iron operation and
not a cause for concern.
To discharge steam, press the steam button (2) on
the iron.
NB: If your iron has both buttons (2) and (2A), you
can choose to use either the top or the bottom but-
ton as you prefer.
Steam button lock (1)
This device allows a continuous output of steam to be
obtained by keeping the steam button pressed down
mechanically, avoiding the need to do so manually.
To use, simply press the button (2) and slide the lock
backwards. To release the button, slide the lock
forwards.
IMPORTANT: the tube connecting the iron to the
steam generator may become hot.
The steam regulator (9) enables the quantity of
steam to be increased or decreased.
NB: When switching on the iron, keep the knob in
the maximum steam discharge position.
Topping up the tank with water
When the water in the tank reaches about 2 cm
from the bottom, you must top up the level as
follows:
·Turn the steam generator and iron off using the
switches (13 and 14).
·Unplug from the mains socket.
·Remove the tank and the cap, fill with water then
replace the cap.
·Replace the tank on the appliance, making sure it
is correctly positioned.
IMPORTANT: it is normal for there to be water
on the surface the iron is resting on. This is due
to a drainage hole in the tank housing.
Leakage of small amounts of water is normal
and is caused by movement of the tank for fil-
ling.
DRY IRONING
Plug the appliance into the mains.
Press the switch (13) to turn power to the iron on.
The indicator lights (4) and (10) come on.
Position the thermostat regulation knob (3) accor-
ding to the type of fabric to be ironed (fig. 2).
When dry ironing, do not use the steam control
(2).
NB: When the iron has reached the selected tem-
perature, the indicator light (4) goes out.
AFTER IRONING
Wait for the appliance to cool down, then return
the iron rest to the original position.
Avoid touching the water tank while the iron is hot.
Some models are fitted with a cable winder.
