The Q-SHIELD-C/S is powered by a rechargeable Li-ion

Li-ion batteries are not designed to be recharged from exter-
nal power supply besides specific Li-ion charger model ap-
proved by Desoutter (part number 6159361500). Connecting
to inappropriate power supplies can result in fire or explo-
sion.

Liability
Many events in the operating environment may affect the
tightening process and shall require a validation of results. In
compliance with applicable standards and/or regulations, we
hereby require you to check the installed torque and rota-
tional direction after any event that can influence the tighten-
ing result. Examples of such events include but are not lim-
ited to:
• initial installation of the tooling system
• change of part batch, bolt, screw batch, tool, software,
configuration or environment
• change of air- or electrical connections
• change in line ergonomics, process, quality procedures
or practices
• changing of operator
• any other change that influences the result of the tighten-

• Ensure that the joint conditions have not changed due to
events of influence.
• Be done after initial installation, maintenance or repair

Information Regarding Article 33 in REACH
The European Regulation (EU) No. 1907/2006 on Registra-
tion, Evaluation, Authorization and restriction of Chemicals
(REACH) defines among other things requirements related to
communication in the supply chain. The information require-
ment applies also to products containing so called Substances
of Very High Concern (the “Candidate List”). On 27 June
2018 lead metal (CAS nr 7439-92-1) was added to the Candi-
date List.
In accordance with the above this is to inform you that cer-
tain electrical and mechanical components in the product
may contain lead metal. This is in compliance with current
substance restriction legislation and based on legit exemp-
tions in the RoHS Directive (2011/65/EU). Lead metal will
not leak or mutate from the product during normal use and
the concentration of lead metal in the complete product is
well below the applicable threshold limit. Please consider lo-

Product Specific Instructions
Correct operation
The Q-SHIELD-C/S is designed to work within its torque ca-
pacity.
WARNING Crushing Hazard
Never overload the tool. Overloading of the tool can
lead to structure breaking, which will cause serious bod-
ily injury.
►Never overload the tool over its capacity.
►Make sure that there are no obstacles in the tool
range of rotation; this could lead to an improper
torque reading and thus an overloading of the tool.
Handling
For proper Q-SHIELD-C/S operation, handle it as shown in
the picture below:
End-fitting tools / Extensions
Use only end-fitting tools supplied by Desoutter (refer to the
catalogue).
WARNING Crushing Hazard
Never install wrong end-fitting tools and/or extensions
on the wrench. Wrong end-fitting tools and/or exten-
sions can lead to a sudden mechanical release, which
causes severe bodily injury.
►Use only end-fitting tools designed for this specific
wrench.
►When using an extension, calculate the Torque Cor-
rection Coefficient and Angle Correction Coeffi-
cient (for more information on the Torque and the
Angle Correction Coefficients, refer to the Configu-
ration manual of the tool). A wrong Torque or An-
gle Correction Coefficient leads to an incorrect
torque or angle reading and thus to an overload of
the wrench.
Installing/removing the battery
To install the battery in the Q-SHIELD:
1. Unscrew the battery cap placed on the Q-SHIELD han-
dle.
2. Insert the battery into the handle.
3. Reinstall the battery cap.
To remove the battery from the Q-SHIELD:
1. Power OFF the Q-SHIELD.
2. Unscrew the battery cap placed on the Q-SHIELD han-
dle.
3. Remove the battery from the handle.
4. Reinstall the battery cap.
Powering ON / OFF the wrench
To power ON the wrench:
1. Attach the battery to the wrench (refer to Installing/re-
moving the battery [Page7]).
2. Make sure the wrench lays steady without any torque
constraints.
3. Press the ON / ENTER button on the Q-SHIELD
keyboard.
To power OFF the wrench:
Press the OFF / CANCEL button on the Q-SHIELD
keyboard.
Maintenance recommendations
The tool should be calibrated regularly once a year.
Replace the battery in case of any sign of malfunctioning
and/or overheat.
NOTICE Use only batteries supplied by Desoutter.
Battery use and care
• Store the Q-SHIELD-C/S and the batteries in a cool (be-
low 30°C) and ventilate area, away from moisture,
sources of heat, open flames, food and drink. Keep ade-
quate clearance between walls and batteries. For long
term storage, cells should be kept within a range of 30 ±
15 % state of charge.
• Temperatures above 70°C may result in battery leakage
and rupture.
• Short circuit can cause burn, leakage and rupture hazard;
do not insert any object in the batteries contacts, keep
batteries in original packaging and do not jumble them.
• Replace batteries if you have any suspect of malfunc-
tions, or if you note any abnormal overheat during Q-
SHIELD-C/S operation or battery recharge.
• Do not crush, pierce, short the batteries terminal.
• Do not directly heat or solder. Do not throw into fire.
• Keep batteries in a non-conductive (i.e. plastic) tray.
• Do not disassemble, mutilate or mechanically abuse bat-
teries.
• Do not immerse in water.
• Applying pressure or deforming the battery may lead to
disassembly followed by eye, skin and throat irritation.
• Any restriction applies for Li-ion battery transportation
according to current UN Recommendations on the
Transport of Dangerous Goods, Model Regulations (UN
38.3)

Instructions spécifiques au produit
Utilisation appropriée
Le Q-SHIELD-C/S est conçu pour fonctionner conformé-
ment à sa capacité du couple.
AVERTISSEMENT Risque d’écrasement
Ne jamais surcharger l’outil. La surcharge de l’outil peut
endommager la structure, ce qui peut entraîner de graves
blessures corporelles.
►Ne jamais surcharger l'outil au-delà de sa capacité.
►S'assurer qu'il n'y a pas d'obstacles à portée de rota-
tion de l'outil ; cela pourrait conduire à une lecture
incorrecte du couple et donc à une surcharge de
l'outil.
Manipulation
Pour un fonctionnement approprié du Q-SHIELD-C/S, il doit
être manipulé comme indiqué sur l'image ci-dessous:

Embouts / Rallonges
Utiliser uniquement les outils d’embout fournis par Desoutter
(voir le catalogue).
AVERTISSEMENT Risque d’écrasement
Ne jamais installer des embouts et/ou des rallonges in-
adaptés sur la clé. Des outils et/ou des rallonges mal
adaptés peuvent entraîner un déclenchement mécanique
soudain, qui provoque des blessures corporelles graves.
►Utiliser uniquement des embouts conçus pour cette
clé spécifique.
►En cas d'utilisation d'une rallonge, calculer le Coef-
ficient de Correction du Couple et le Coefficient de
Correction de l’Angle (pour plus d'informations sur
le Coefficient de Correction du Couple et de l’An-
gle, se référer au Manuel de configuration de l'outil).
Un mauvais Coefficient de Correction du Couple ou
de l’Angle entraîne une lecture incorrecte du couple
ou de l’angle et donc une surcharge de la clé.
Installer/retirer la batterie
Pour installer la batterie dans le Q-SHIELD:
1. Dévisser le capuchon de la batterie placé sur la poignée
du Q-SHIELD.
2. Insérer la batterie dans la poignée.
3. Réinstaller le capuchon de la batterie.
Pour retirer la batterie du Q-SHIELD.
1. Éteindre le Q-SHIELD.
2. Dévisser le capuchon de la batterie placé sur la poignée
du Q-SHIELD.
3. Retirer la batterie de la poignée.
4. Réinstaller le capuchon de la batterie.
Allumer / Éteindre la clé
Pour allumer la clé:
1. Fixer la batterie sur la clé (consulter Installer/retirer la
batterie [Page13]).
2. Vérifier que la clé est bien stable sans contrainte de
couple.
3. Appuyer sur le bouton MARCHE / ENTRÉE sur
le clavier du Q-SHIELD.
Pour éteindre la clé:
Appuyer sur le bouton ARRÊT / ANNULER sur le
clavier du Q-SHIELD.
Recommandations de maintenance
L’outil doit être étalonné régulièrement une fois par an.
Remplacer la batterie si elle présente un signe quelconque de
dysfonctionnement et/ou de surchauffe.
AVIS Utiliser uniquement des batteries fournies par Desout-
ter.
Utilisation de la batterie et entretien
• Entreposer le Q-SHIELD-C/S et les batteries dans un en-
droit aéré et frais (au-dessous de 30°C) à l'écart de l'hu-
midité, des sources de chaleur, des flammes, des ali-
ments et des boissons. L'espace entre les murs et les bat-
teries doit être suffisant. Pour un stockage à long terme,
les cellules doivent être maintenues dans une plage de
charge de 30 ± 15%.
• Les températures supérieures à 70°C peuvent entraîner
des fuites ou une rupture de la batterie.
• Un court-circuit peut entraîner des brûlures, des fuites et
un risque de rupture. Ne jamais insérer d'objet dans les
contacts de batteries. Garder les batteries dans leur em-
ballage d'origine et ne pas les mélanger.
• Remplacer les batteries en cas de doute sur leur fonction-
nement ou de surchauffe anormale pendant l'utilisation
du Q-SHIELD-C/S ou le rechargement des batteries.
• Ne pas écraser ou percer les batteries ni court-circuiter
les bornes.
• Ne pas chauffer directement ni souder. Ne pas jeter au
feu.
• Garder les batteries dans un bac non conducteur (c'est-à-
dire en plastique).
• Ne pas démonter, dégrader ou pousser mécaniquement
les batteries.
• Ne pas plonger dans l'eau.
• Appuyer sur la batterie ou la déformer peut provoquer
des blessures au niveau des yeux, de la peau et des irrita-
tions de la gorge.
• Le transport des batteries Li-ion doit se faire conformé-
ment aux recommandations des Nations Unies en
vigueur concernant le transport des marchandises dan-
gereuses - règlement type (UN 38.3).
Panneaux et autocollants
Des vignettes et autocollants contenant des informations im-
portantes pour la sécurité des personnes et l'entretien du
matériel sont apposés sur le produit. Les vignettes et autocol-
lants doivent toujours être faciles à lire. On pourra comman-
der de nouvelles vignettes et de nouveaux autocollants à
l'aide de la nomenclature des pièces de rechange.

Das Gerät ist nur dann konform, wenn keine Änderungen
oder Modifikationen am Gerät vorgenommen wurden. Das
Gerät entspricht der Anforderung hinsichtlich der HF-Belas-
tung in den USA mit einem Trennungsabstand von 20cm
zwischen Benutzer und Gerät. Die Antenne ist am Gerät be-
festigt, und es sind keine Änderungen an der Antenne oder
der Befestigung der Antenne zulässig. Änderungen dieser Art
gelten als Verstoß gegen die Konformitätserklärung.
Dieses mobile Gerät samt seiner Antenne entspricht den

Produktspezifische Anweisungen
Korrekter Betrieb
Der Q-SHIELD-C/S ist für den Betrieb im Rahmen seiner
Drehmomentleistung ausgelegt.
WARNUNG Quetschgefahr
Überlasten Sie das Werkzeug niemals. Eine Überlastung
des Werkzeugs kann zum Bruch führen, wodurch
schwere Personenschäden verursacht werden können.
►Das Werkzeug niemals über seine Kapazitätsgren-
zen hinaus belasten.
►Stellen Sie sicher, dass sich keine Hindernisse im
Drehbereich des Werkzeugs befinden; diese könnten
zu fehlerhaften Drehmomentwerten und somit zu
einer Überlastung des Werkzeugs führen.
Handling
Für einen ordnungsgemäßen Betrieb des Q-SHIELD-C/S ist
dieser wie abgebildet einzusetzen.
Werkzeugeinsätze / Verlängerungen
Nur Werkzeugeinsätze von Desoutter verwenden (siehe Kat-
alog).
WARNUNG Quetschgefahr
Installieren Sie niemals falsche Werkzeugeinsätze und/
oder Verlängerungen am Schlüssel. Falsche
Werkzeugeinsätze bzw. Verlängerungen können zu
einem plötzlichen mechanischen Lösen führen, das
schwere Personenschäden verursachen kann.
►Ausschließlich speziell für diesen Schlüssel vorge-
sehene Werkzeugeinsätze benutzen.
►Berechnen Sie beim Einsatz einer Verlängerung den
Drehmoment- und Winkel-Korrekturkoeffizienten
(weitere Informationen zum Drehmoment- und
Winkel-Korrekturkoeffizienten finden Sie in der
Konfigurationsanleitung des Werkzeugs). Ein
falscher Drehmoment-oder Winkel-Korrekturkoef-
fizient führt zu einem fehlerhaften Drehmomentwert
oder Winkel und somit zu einer Überlastung des
Werkzeugs.
Einsetzen und Entfernen des Akkus
Einsetzen des Akkus in den Q-SHIELD:
1. Schrauben Sie den Akkudeckel am Griff des Q-
SHIELD auf.
2. Setzen Sie den Akku in den Griff ein.
3. Bringen Sie den Akkudeckel wieder an.
Entfernen des Akkus aus dem Q-SHIELD:

1. Schalten Sie den Q-SHIELD aus.
2. Schrauben Sie den Akkudeckel am Griff des Q-
SHIELD auf.
3. Nehmen Sie den Akku aus dem Griff heraus.
4. Bringen Sie den Akkudeckel wieder an.
Ein- und Ausschalten des Schlüssels
Einschalten des Schlüssels:
1. Setzen Sie den Akku in den Schlüssel ein (siehe Einset-
zen und Entfernen des Akkus [Seite18]).
2. Vergewissern Sie sich, dass der Schlüssel stabil liegt
und keine Drehmomentrestriktionen vorhanden sind.
3. Drücken Sie die EIN-/EINGABE-Taste an der Q-
SHIELD-Tastatur.
Ausschalten des Schlüssels:
Drücken Sie die AUS-/ABBRECHEN-Taste an der Q-
SHIELD-Tastatur.
Wartungsempfehlungen
Das Werkzeug sollte regelmäßig einmal pro Jahr kalibriert
werden.
Tauschen Sie die Akkus bei Anzeichen einer Fehlfunktion
und/oder Überhitzen aus.
HINWEIS Nur von Desoutter bereitgestellte Akkus verwen-
den.
Gebrauch und Pflege des Akkus
• Der Q-SHIELD-C/S und die Akkus an einem kühlen
(unter 30 °C) und gut belüfteten Ort lagern, weitab von
Feuchtigkeit, Hitzequellen, offenen Flammen,
Nahrungsmitteln und Getränken. Zwischen Wänden und
Akkus ist ein ausreichender Abstand einzuhalten. Bei
längerfristiger Lagerung sollten die Akkus in einem
Ladezustand von 30 ± 15% gehalten werden.
• Temperaturen von über 70 °C lassen die Akkus aus-
laufen und reißen.
• Ein Kurzschluss kann zu Brand, Auslaufen und Reißen
führen; keine Objekte in die Akkukontakte einführen, die
Akkus in der Originalverpackung belassen und nicht
mischen.
• Akkus bei Verdacht auf Fehlfunktion auswechseln oder
wenn ein abnormales Überhitzen beim Einsatz des Q-
SHIELD-C/S oder beim Aufladen der Akkus bemerkt
wird.
• Die Akkuanschlüsse nicht eindrücken, durchstechen oder
kürzen.
• Nicht direkt erhitzen oder löten. Nicht ins offene Feuer
werfen.
• Akkus in einem nicht leitfähigen Behälter aufbewahren
(d.h. aus Kunststoff).
• Akkus nicht demontieren, manipulieren oder mechanisch
bearbeiten.
• Nicht in Wasser eintauchen.
• Die Einwirkung von Druck oder die Deformation des
Akkus kann dazu führen, dass er aus seiner Halterung
springt, und es kann zu Reizungen der Augen, der Haut
und des Halses kommen.
• Für den Transport von Li-Ionen-Akkus gelten alle Ein-
schränkungen gemäß den aktuellen UN-Empfehlungen
zum Transport von Gefahrgütern, Musterrichtlinie (UN
38.3).

wichtige Angaben zur Personensicherheit und Produkt-
wartung enthalten. Die Schilder und Aufkleber müssen im-
