Overview
System Components
1. Your smart device
• Shows glucose information (Smart device not
included.)
• For a current list of compatible smart devices, go
to dexcom.com/compatibility

• Applicator inserts sensor under the skin

3. Reusable Transmitter
• Sends sensor readings from your sensor to your
smart device

How It Works
After inserting sensor, attaching transmitter, and
starting a session, Dexcom ONE sends sensor
readings to your phone.
All graphics are representational. Your product may
look different.
Critical Safety Notices!
Dexcom ONE Alerts
No glucose alerts unless you turn them on
• Turn on alerts during setup to get glucose and
system alerts when sensor warmup is over
Dexcom ONE alerts will NOT override your
phone’s settings
• You will NOT hear high or low glucose alerts if
your phone is set to silent (sound is turned off)
• You will hear alerts ONLY when your phone is set
to sound
• Check your phone’s settings or you may miss an
alert

Set Up
Step 1: Set Up App
Set up your app before inserting your sensor.
1. Go to the app store
2. Search for Dexcom ONE
3. Download and open the app
With the app open, follow the onscreen instructions.

During setup, the app will prompt you to:
• Enter the transmitter serial number (SN),
either manually or by taking a picture.
SN is on the back of the transmitter and box.
• Enter the sensor code from the sensor you
insert, either manually or by taking a picture
Sensor code is on the applicator.

Step 2: Insert Sensor
A. Choose a Sensor Site
Ages 2-17 years only
Can use upper buttocks




All people ages 2 and older
Can use the abdomen or back
of upper arm




Avoid: boney areas, irritated skin, tattoos, and areas
that get bumped.

B. Insert Sensor

Wash hands and sensor site
with soap. Dry. Scrub sensor
site with alcohol wipe.

Peel off adhesive backings
from applicator. Do not
touch adhesive. Keep the
backings. They show your
sensor code.

Place applicator on skin
before breaking safety
guard.
4Fold and break off safety
guard. Do not twist.
5Press button to insert
sensor.
6Remove applicator from skin
leaving patch and holder on.

Throw away applicator.
Follow local guidelines for
disposal of blood-contacting
components.

Step 3: Attach Transmitter
1Clean transmitter with
alcohol wipe.
2Insert transmitter, tab first,
into holder.

Snap in transmitter. It clicks
into place. Make sure it is
flat and snug in holder.
4Rub around patch 3 times to
help it stick.
Step 4: Sensor Warmup
• After setup, your sensor needs time to get used
to your body.
• Keep your smart device within 6 meters of the
transmitter.
• You will NOT get sensor readings or alerts until
sensor warmup is complete.
If you did not turn on alerts during setup,
turn them on now to get alerts when sensor
warmup is complete.
Wait 2 Hours
When sensor warmup is complete, you will start
getting sensor readings. If you did not turn on alerts
during setup, you can use this time to turn them on,
for use after warmup.

Step 5: Check Phone
Settings
No glucose alerts unless you turn them on
• Turn on alerts during setup to get glucose and
system alerts when sensor warmup is over
Dexcom ONE alerts will NOT override your
phone’s settings
• You will NOT hear high or low glucose alerts if
your phone is set to silent (sound is turned off)
• You will hear alerts ONLY when your phone is set
to sound
• Check your phone’s settings or you may miss an
alert
Step 6: Turn On Alerts
If you did not turn on alerts during set up, you can do
so at any time.
1. Tap Settings > Alerts
2. You will see a list of alerts
3. Tap one you want to set
4. Follow the screen prompts
5. Return to Settings > Alerts to set another one
6. Tap Glucose to return to the home screen
Smart Device Safety Notice
Your smart device isn’t a dedicated medical device.
To make sure you get sensor readings and alerts:
• Do not use a hacked (jailbroken or rooted) smart
device because Dexcom ONE may not work
correctly.
• Bluetooth must be on for your transmitter and
app to communicate.
• Do not rely on Dexcom ONE until you understand
how to use it and your smart device’s Bluetooth.
• Make sure your smart device’s speaker(s) and
screen work.

• When using Bluetooth or plug-in headphones,
speakers, etc., test your system to find out where
your alerts sound. They might sound on your
smart device, on the headphones or speakers,
etc., or on both.
• The app uses your smart device’s battery. Keep
your phone charged to get readings and alerts.
• If your smart device or the Dexcom ONE app
closes or isn’t working, you will NOT get readings
or alerts. Occasionally check that the app is open
and Bluetooth is on.
