GENERAL WARNINGS
Wiring procedures and connections should be in•
accordance with the National Electric Code (NEC &
CEC) and local codes.
Do not install these heaters against combustible, low•
densitycellulosebresurfaces.
Do not locate these heaters below any electrical conven-•
ience receptacles.
Donotstoregasolineorammablesolventsinthevicin-•
ityoftheseheaters.
HIGH TEMPERATURES• :Keepelectricalcords,furni-
ture,draperiesoranyotherblockingmaterialawayfrom
the heater.
Recommendations for Locating Drapes and Furniture
near Heaters
Formostsatisfactoryoperationofthebaseboardheatersand
minimumeffectondrapesandfurniture,thefollowingrecom-
mendations should be observed:
Hang drapes so that, in use, they extend below the1.
centerlineoftheheater,butwithatleast1.5inches
clearancefromthenishedoorcovering(suchascar-
pet,ifused).
Hang drapes so that there is at least 3 inches between2.
theextremefrontoftheheaterandthenearestfoldofthe
drapesinthefoldedback(openeddrape)position.
Hangdrapessothereisatleast1.5inchesbetweenthe3.
topofthedrapesandtheceiling.
Tobesuitablefordraperieslocatedclosetoheaters,4.
material should not discolour nor distort dimensionally
(stretch or shrink) upon extended exposure (1000 hrs.) to
atemperatureof200ºF(93ºC).
!NOTE: Ifdrapesaretobecutoffaboveaheater,they
shouldbecutoffatleast6inchesabovethetopof the
heaterandpreferablymore.
!NOTE: Placefurniturenocloserthen3inchesfromthe
baseboard heater.
Installation Instructions
IMPORTANT INSTRUCTIONS
When using electrical appliances, basic precautions should
alwaysbefollowedtoreducetheriskofre,electricshock
andinjurytoperson,includingthefollowing:
Readallinstructionsbeforeusingthisheater.1.
A heater has hot and arcing or sparking parts inside. Do2.
notuseitinareaswheregasoline,paintorammable
liquids are used or stored.
This heater is hot when in use. To avoid burns, do not let3.
bareskintouchhotsurfaces.Ifprovided,usehandles
when moving this heater. Keep combustible materials
suchas:furniture,pillows,bedding,papers,clothesand
curtainsawayfromheater.
Topreventapossiblere,donotblockairintakesor4.
exhaustinanymanner.Donotuseonsoftsurfaceslike
a bed where openings may become blocked.
Donotinsertorallowforeignobjectstoenteranyventi-5.
lation or exhaust opening as this may cause an electric
shockorre,ordamagetheheater.

Wall Installation
Unpacktheheaterfromthecartonandremovethefront1.
panel and terminal box covers.
!NOTE: Thefrontpanelscrewsarerecessedinthe
bottomlouversateachendoftheheater.
Determine the correct mounting height and scribe or2.
snap a level line on the wall to maintain each heater back
plate in a horizontal alignment, when mounting.
!NOTE: Bottom air inlet heaters are to be mounted a
minimumof3”fromthebottomoftheheatertothe
nishedoor.
Removethedesiredknockoutsfromtheterminalbox3.
area. (See Figure 1)
!NOTE: It is only necessary to remove the knockout(s)
thatwillfeedthepowersupplywiring,keepinginmind
the heater mounting location and supply wire location on
the wall.
Mountthebackplatetothewallusingsuitablefasteners4.
(provided by the customer) using the scribed line on the

Removethefrontpanelandterminalboxcovers.2.
!NOTE: Thefrontpanelscrewsarerecessedinthe
bottomlouversateachendoftheheater.
Removethedesiredknockoutsfromtheterminalbox3.

!NOTE: It is only necessary to remove the knockout(s)
thatwillfeedthepowersupplywiring,keepinginmind
the heater mounting location and supply wire location on
the wall.
Temporarilysecureapedestaltoeachendoftheheater4.
bottom.
!NOTE: Unitslongerthan4feetwillbeprovidedwith3
or more pedestals. The extra pedestals should be used
tosupportthemiddleoftheheater.
Place the heater in the desired location and mark the5.
positionofthepedestalbaseontheoor.
Removethepedestalbase(s)fromtheheaterand6.
securetotheoorwithinthemarkedareaswithsuitable
fasteners.(providedbythecustomer)
Place the heater on the pedestal base and tighten all7.
fasteners.
Proceed to wiring instructions.8.

protect the wiring.
Where headers are spaced apart,
removethenishingendplate,anduse
rigidconduit(providedbycustomer)for
through wiring and ground continuity.
Do not exceed the allowable number
ofconductorsallowedbytheNational
Electric Code.
Doanalandcompletecheckofall4.
wiring then replace the terminal box
coversbeingcarefulnottopinch
any wires.
Thefrontpanelmaynowbe5.
installed.

TheManufacturerwarrantstheheatingelementsand
componentsoftheenclosedproductagainstanydefectin
materialorworkmanshipforaperiodofoneyearfromthe
dateofpurchase.Infullsatisfactionofanyclaimsunder
thisWarrantytheManufacturerwillrepairorreplacewithout
charge,initsfactoryorintheeldasitalonemaydecide,
anypartswhichinitsopinionaredefective.
TheManufacturershallnotberesponsibleforany
transportation or shipping costs in relation to such repair
orreplacementexceptasspecicallyassumedbyit.
Misuseofthisproductorrepairsbypersonsotherthan
theManufacturer’sauthorizedpersonnelwithoutthe
Manufacturer’swrittenapproval,willvoidthisWarranty.
ThisWarrantyisinlieuofallotherwarrantiesorconditions
whether expressed or implied including but not limited to
thoseofmerchantabilityortnessforpurposeandshall
constitutethesoleremedyofthePurchaserandthesole
liabilityoftheManufacturerinrespectofthesaleofthe
product,whetherinthenatureofbreachorbreachof

TheManufacturershallnotbeliableforanyspecial,indirect
orconsequentialdamagesorforanydamagesresultingfrom

panel, and secure with screws.
CAUTION: Beforeremovingthefrontcoverforcleaning,
makecertainthepowerhasbeenturnedoffatthecircuit
breaker panel.
CAUTION: Allowadequatetimefortheelementandbody
casingtocoolbeforeattemptingtoworkontheheater.
The AF12/AS12 series contain no moving parts. Since the
appliance contains no moving parts, little maintenance is
required beyond vacuum cleaning. It is, however, essential
thattheheaterisnotoperatedwithanaccumulationofdust
ordirtontheelement,asthiscancauseabuildupofheat
and eventual damage. For this reason the heater must be
inspected regularly, depending upon conditions and at least
at yearly intervals. Once cleaning is complete replace the
frontcoverandrestorepower.
WARNING: TheusercanperformcleaningONLY,all
otherservicingshouldbeperformedbyqualiedservice
personnel.
Maintenance
Thisheatermustbeproperlyinstalledbeforeitisused.1.
Prior to energization remove all construction dirt (plaster,2.
sawdust,etc.)frominteriorandexteriorofheater.
Dimplexbaseboardheatersaredesignedandtestedforsafe
andtrouble-freeoperation.AllDimplexbaseboardheaters
are protected against overheating by a built-in thermal cutout.
Freeairowthroughouttheheaterisextremelyimportantfor
themostefcientoperationoftheheater.Restrictedairow
may cause the thermal overload protector to cycle the heater
“ONandOFF”.Acyclingheaterwillnotsupplysufcientheat
to the room.
Avoiddirectcontactofpaper,fabric,orfurniturewithheater.
