Operation
The manual controls for the replace are located in the lower
right hand corner (Figure 1).
A. MainOn/OffSwitch
Supplies power to the Three Position Manual Control Switch.
B. ThreePositionManualControlSwitch
Remote(rightposition): The unit is operated with the
remote control.
Flame(centerposition): The ame effect is turned on.
Flame&Heat(leftposition): The ame effect and heater
are turned on simultaneously. When the manual control is
in the Flame&Heatposition the heater does not run on
the remote operated thermostat.
!NOTE:When the manual control switch is in the Flame
and Flame&Heatpositions, the replace unit will not
operate with the remote control.
C. InitializationButton
Used to synchronize the supplied remote control with the
replace.
RemoteControl
The remote control has a range of approximately 50 feet
(15.25 m), it does not have to be pointed at the replace
and can pass through most obstacles (including walls). It
is supplied with 243 independent frequencies to prevent
interference with other units.
BatteryInstallation/Replacement
Depress tab on the battery cover on the back of the1.
remote transmitter and remove battery cover.
Install/replace two (2) AAA batteries into the remote2.
control.
Ensure Child Lock is in the “unlocked” position (Figure 2).3.
Replace the battery cover.4.
!NOTE:When the “BAT”
symbol is present on the
remote control it is
recommended to replace the
batteries promptly, to maintain
full functionality of the remote/
replace. The remote transmitter
has a battery backup time of
only several hours.
RemoteControlInitialization
Plug cord into a 120 Volt wall outlet.1.
Ensure the Main On/Off Switch located in the switch box2.
on the replace in the lower right hand corner is in the On
position.
Set the Three Position Manual Control (Figure 1B) to the3.
Remoteposition (right position).
Press and hold the Initialization Button on the unit4.
(Figure 1C).
While holding the Initialization Button, press the Flame/5.
Heat On/Off button or the Purire™ On/Off button on
the remote control transmitter.
Release the Initialization Button on the unit.6.
Press the Flame/Heat On/Off button7. to turn the Flame/
Heat function on or press the Purire™ On/Off button to
turn the Purire™ function on.
ResettingtheTemperatureCutoffSwitch
Should the heater overheat, an automatic switch will turn the
heater off and it will not come back on without being reset.
The temperature cutoff switch can be reset by unplugging the
unit, waiting ve (5) minutes and plugging the unit back in.
 CAUTION:If you need to continuously reset the heater,
unplug the unit and call Dimplex North America Limited
at 1-888-346-7539. Please have your model and serial
number ready when calling.

Press H.Flame&HeatOn/Off button to turn replace on.
Press J.TemperatureUp to raise thermostat, or I.
TemperatureDown to lower the thermostat. Press both J.
TemperatureUp and I.TemperatureDown to change °F to
°C.
C. LightDimmerControl
While the replace is running, repeatedly press the
L.DimmerUp or K.DimmerDown button to increase or
decrease the brightness of the upper lights.
D. FlameSpeedControl
While the replace is running, press the N.FlameSpeedUp
button to increase the speed of the ame or press the
M.FlameSpeedDown to decrease the speed of the ame.
E. SleepTimer
The Sleep Timer automatically shuts off the replace after a
preset time (from 30 minutes to 8 hours).
During replace operation, to set the sleep timer press the
P.SleepTimerUp button. Set the timer from 30 minutes
through 8 hours. The replace will automatically turn off when
the sleep timer reaches zero (0) minutes.
The sleep timer can be cancelled at any time by pressing the
O.SleepTimerDown button repeatedly until the sleep timer
displays “0”.
F. Purire™
Press the G.Purire™On/Off button to turn the Purire™
function on. When the Purire™ function is on, the Purire™
symbol will ash. When off, the symbol will be solid.
The default setting for the Purire™ is set at low speed.
Press the Q.Purire™SpeedDownor the R.Purire™
SpeedUp buttons to change between low and high speeds.
Press the G.Purire™On/Off button to turn the Purire™
function off.
H. Flame&HeatOn/OffButton
Press the H.Flame&HeatOn/Off button to turn the
Flame/Heat function on. When B.SetTemperature is
higher then A.RoomTemperature the heat will come on. To
turn the heat off, lower the B.SetTemperature so that it’s
setting is lower then the A.RoomTemperature. The default
temperature setting is 72°F (22°C).
!NOTE:When using the remote control the heater
runs on a thermostat. Press the J.TemperatureUp
or I.TemperatureDown buttons to adjust the set
temperature. Once the desired set temperature is
reached the heater will turn off. The heater will cycle on
and off to maintain the desired set temperature.

Depress tab on the1.

to the right to lock the
remote transmitter.
Move Child Lock tab back to the left to unlock the remote.3.
Replace the battery cover.4.
!NOTE:To temporarily unlock the remote transmitter press
(in order) I.TemperatureDown then J.TemperatureUp
then K.DimmerDown.
When the remote transmitter’s backlight is illuminated the
ChildLock is bypassed. When the backlight is off the Child
Lock is re-activated.
FrequencyInterference
If the replace does not respond properly to the remote
control, the remote operating frequency may have to be
reset. The remote control can send another frequency code
to the circuit board to eliminate interference.
Simultaneously press the1. O.SleepTimerDown button
and the Q.Purire™SpeedDown button on the remote
control.
“2. COD” will appear in place of the sleep timer digits.
Release the3. O.SleepTimerDown button and the Q.
Purire™SpeedDown button.
Press the Initialization button on the unit (Figure 3C).4.
Press the5. H.Flame&HeatOn/Off button on the remote.
Your remote will now have a different frequency
communicating with the replace.

FrontGlassReplacement
If unit was operating prior to servicing allow at least 10
minutes for light bulbs and heating element to cool off to
avoid accidental burning of skin.
Disconnect power before attempting any maintenance or
cleaning to reduce the risk of electric shock or damage to
persons.
ReplacementProcedure
1. Slide rebox out of mantel.
2. Lay unit on it’s back for safe removal of Front Glass.
3. Remove four (4) Phillips screws from right side of Trim
(Figure 4).
4. Remove Trim.
5. Slide glass to the right side of the rebox to remove
(Figure 4).
6. Reassemble using replacement Front Glass in reverse
order as described above.
CAUTION:Even though the glass is safety glass it may
break if bumped, struck or dropped. Care must be
taken when handling the glass.
UpperBulbReplacementProcedure
1. Slide rebox out of mantel.
2. Lay unit on it’s back for safe removal of Front Glass.
3. Remove four (4) Phillips screws from right side of Trim.
4. Remove Trim.
5. Slide glass to the right side of the rebox to remove
(Figure 4).
CAUTION:Even though the glass is safety glass it may
break if bumped, struck of dropped. Care must be taken
when handling the glass.
6. Upper bulbs are located in the upper left and upper right
corners of rebox, behind the Light Block Bracket.
7. Remove Light Block Bracket by sliding forward and to the
right (Figure 5).
LightBulbReplacement
Allow at least ve (5) minutes for the light bulbs to cool
before touching them to avoid accidental burning of the skin.
The light bulbs need to be replaced when you notice a dark
section of the ame or when the clarity and detail of the
log ember bed exterior reduces. There are three (3) bulbs
under the Log Set Assembly, which generate the ames
and embers, and two (2) bulbs above that illuminate the log
exterior.
It is a good idea to replace all of the light bulbs at one time
if they are close to the end of their rated life. Group
replacement will reduce the number of times you need to
open the unit to replace the light bulbs.
UpperBulbRequirements:
A quantity of two (2) chandelier or candelabra bulbs with an
E-12 (small) socket base, 15 Watt rating are required.
Donotexceed15Wattsperbulb.
8. Unscrew bulbs counter clockwise to remove.
9. Insert new bulbs and screw in clockwise.
10. Replace Light Block Bracket.
11. Lay unit on it’s back, slide Front Glass back into position
and attach Trim.
LowerBulbRequirements:
A quantity of three (3) chandelier or candelabra bulbs with an
E-12 socket base, 60 Watt rating are required.
Donotexceed60Wattsperbulb.
LowerBulbReplacementProcedure
1. Slide rebox out of mantel.
2. Lay unit on it’s back for safe removal of Front Glass.
3. Remove four (4) Phillips screws from right side of Trim.
4. Remove Trim.
5. Slide glass to right side of rebox to remove (Figure 4).
CAUTION:Even though the glass is safety glass it may
break if bumped, struck of dropped. Care must be
taken when handling the glass.

6. Pull the front edge
of the plastic Ember
Bed or plastic grate
up and forward until
the rear tab releases
from the ledge
located at the bottom
of the Mirror
(Figure 6).
!IMPORTANT:Only
handle the Log Set
Assembly by the Ember Bed or plastic grate.
!NOTE:Log Set Assembly ts tightly into rebox, some
force may be necessary to remove.
7. Disconnect LED harness (Figure 7).
8. Set Log Set Assembly in front of rebox.
MirrorReplacement
If the replace was operating prior to servicing allow at least

Trim (Figure 4, page 7).
4. Remove Trim.
5. Slide glass to right side of replace to remove (Figure 4).
CAUTION:Even though the glass is safety glass it may
break if bumped, struck of dropped. Care must be
taken when handling the glass.
6. Pull the front edge of the plastic Ember Bed or plastic
grate up and forward until the rear tab releases from
the ledge located at the bottom of the Mirror (Figure 6).
!IMPORTANT:Only handle the Log Set Assembly by the
Ember Bed or plastic grate.
!NOTE:Log Set Assembly ts tightly into rebox, some
force may be necessary to remove.
7. Loosen but do not remove the two (2) Philips screws that
clamp the Mirror in place, and swivel down so that the
clamp clears the edge of the Mirror (Figure 8).

8. Push the Mirror out from behind to clear the frame and
remove.
9. Insert replacement Mirror top end rst and lay the bottom
end gently in the bottom track of the frame.
10. Tighten clamps back into place and re-assemble rebox
in reverse order as described above.

! NOTE:Lower bulbs are accessible without moving
Flicker Rod. If additional room is required, twist Plastic
Bushing as shown in inset of Figure 7 until it allows the
Flicker Rod to slide up from bracket. The spring on the
opposite end of the Flicker Rod is exible enough to
allow Flicker Rod to be turned away, allowing greater
access to bulbs.
9. Unscrew bulbs counter clockwise to remove.
10. Insert new bulbs and screw in clockwise.
11. Move Flicker Rod back into place (if applicable) and
ensure Plastic Bushing is turned to lock rod in place.
14. Reconnect LED harness.
15. Install the Log Set Assembly by placing the front, bottom
edge of the Ember Bed in the track behind the control
panel. Once in place, push down on the back edge of
the Ember Bed until the rear tab snaps into place under
the Mirror (Figure 6).
16. Lay unit on it’s back and slide Front Glass back into
position and attach Trim.
