This product requires two AAA batteries (supplied).
To install the batteries, lift the pocket clip (4) to release the the battery cover and
insert the batteries according to the polarity marked on the side of the device.
Replace the battery cap and tighten it securely.
Important: DO NOT mix old and new batteries.
6. Operation
Important: Test the device on a known voltage before EVERY use. If the device
does not respond as expected, replace the batteries and/or test on another
known voltage. If it continues to operate abnormally, have the unit replaced or
repaired. DO NOT continue to use the device.
When the device detects a voltage at 100–600V AC (50/60Hz), the detector tip (2)
ashes and an audible “beep” is heard.
Important: Maintain a rm and comfortable grip to ensure maximum sensitivity
of the tool.
To test for AC voltage in an outlet, switch, cable or other component, position the
detector tip into the socket or in close proximity to the component.
To locate a break in a live conductor, trace the wire using the detector tip until the
voltage is no longer detected. The point at which the device stops responding
indicates the location of the break. To nd a break in a neutral conductor,
connect a load between live and neutral before tracing the wire.
Important: Lack of response from the device does NOT guarantee that a voltage
is not present. Test the wiring from all sides as the live wire may be shielded from
the detector by other conductors.
The following conditions may cause the device not to respond when a voltage
is present:
• The cable is armoured or in conduit, or the insulation is too thick.
• The cable is concealed by panels or metallic enclosures.
• The voltage is DC.
• The device is positioned too far from the voltage.
• The voltage is less than 90V.
• The operator’s grip on the device is too loose.
To operate the torch (5), press the torch power button (6) once for “on” and again
for “o”.
7. ProductCareandDisposal
This product contains no user-serviceable parts. DO NOT attempt to repair or
service this device. If the device is damaged or functioning incorrectly,
contact Draper Tools for repair and replacement options.
Clean the product using a dry cloth ONLY.
CAUTION! DO NOT use solvents or other aggressive materials as
they my damage plastic or insulated parts.
Store this product in a cool, clean and dry environment, out of direct sunlight
and out of reach of children.
Important: Remove the batteries from the device before storing it for
extended periods.
At the end of its working life, dispose of the product responsibly and in line with
local regulations. Recycle where possible.
• DO NOT dispose of this product with domestic waste; most local authorities
provide appropriate recycling facilities.
• DO NOT burn or mutilate batteries; this may release toxic or corrosive
substances.
• Dispose of batteries separately and in accordance with local regulations.
8. Warranty
Should the tool develop a fault, return the complete tool to your nearest
distributor or contact Draper Tools directly. Proof of purchase must be provided.
If, upon inspection, it is found that the fault occurring is due to defective
materials or workmanship, repairs will be carried out free of charge. This warranty
covers parts and labour for 12 months from the date of purchase. However, if the
tools are hired out, the warranty period is 90 days from the date of purchase.
This warranty does not apply to any consumable parts, batteries or normal wear
and tear, nor does it cover any damage caused by misuse, careless or unsafe
handling, alterations, accidents, or repairs attempted or made by any personnel
other than the authorised Draper Tools repair agent.
