Fittheconnectorcapstokeeptheconnectionscleananddry.
First‐timeuse
WhenyouopentheWeighScalethefirsttime,youwillfindthatthedisplay
screeniscoveredwithatransparentoverlay.Theoverlayisprintedwiththe
number630andothercharacters.
RemovethisoverlaybeforestartingtousetheWeighScale.Theoverlayis
easilyremovedafterfirstgraspingthetab.

Installingtheloadbars
Toinstalltheloadbars,followthesesteps:
Note:Fittheloadbarsasperthemanufacturer'sinstructions.
1. Bolttheplatformtotheloadbars.
2. Ensuretheplatformisplacedonaflatandlevelsurface.Makesureitisnot
touchinganyrailsorgates.
3. Eitherbolttheloadbarstotheconcretepadorlocatethemonstudssetinto
theconcrete.Thiswillpreventtheplatformfrommovingduringthe
weighingsession.
4. ConnecttheloadbarcablestotheWeighScale.
Note:IfyouareusingnonGallagher,loadbarsensuretheloadbarsarecorrectly
calibrated.
InstallingtheWeighScale
TheWeighScalecanbeplacedonatabletopormountedontheWeighScale
bracketsupplied.
PositiontheWeighScale:
clearoftheplatformtoensureitdoesnotinterferewiththeflowof
animalsduringtheweighingcycle

POWERANDBATTERIES
Duringaweighingsession,theWeighScalecanbepoweredbyitsinternal
batteryaloneorbyitsinternalbatteryandeitherthebatterychargeroran
external12voltbattery.
ThebatterychargerconnectsbetweenanACoutletandtheWeighScale.
Ifeitherthebatterychargeroranexternal12voltbatteryisconnectedtothe
WeighScale,theWeighScale'sinternalbatterywillbechargedwhiletheWeigh
Scaleisinuse.
Foroptimumperformance,switchofftheWeighScaleandchargeitsinternal
batteryovernight.Whenfullycharged,theinternalbatteryonitsownwill
powertheWeighScalecontinuouslyforaminimumofeighthours.
BatterylifemaybereducediftheWeighScaleisbeingusedtopoweran
ElectronicIDreader.
Chargingthebattery
ThebatteryintheWeighScalecanberechargedusingeitherabatterychargeror
anexternal12voltbattery.
Rechargingthebatterywilltakeuptosixteenhoursdependingonthelevelof
chargealreadyinthebattery.TheWeighScalecanbeinuseorcanbeswitched
offwhilethebatteryisbeingcharged.
Usingthebatterycharger
Tochargethebatteryusingthebatterycharger,followthesesteps:
1. ConnecttheleadbetweenthebatterychargerandtheWeighScale.
2. PlugthebatterychargerintoanACoutletandswitchon.
3. OpentheWeighScalecaseandmakesurethebatterychargeicon
onthemainscreenisflashing.Thisindicatesthatthebatteryischargingand
willbedisplayedwhethertheWeighScaleisturnedonoroff.

Usinganexternal12voltbattery
TochargetheWeighScale'sinternalbatteryusinganexternal12voltbattery,
followthesesteps:
1. ConnectthesuppliedblackandredbatteryleadstotheWeighScale.
2. Connecttheotherendofthebatteryleadstothe12voltbattery.
ConnecttheRedcliptothePositiveterminal.
ConnecttheBlackcliptotheNegativeterminal.
3. OpentheWeighScalecaseandmakesurethebatterychargeicon
onthemainscreenisflashing.Thisindicatesthatthebatteryischargingand
willbedisplayedwhethertheWeighScaleisturnedonoroff.
Batterychargestatus
ThebatteryicondisplaysinthebottomleftcorneroftheWeighScale'supper
screen.
Itisimportanttonotethatthebatteryiconwillonlyevershowtheactual
amountofchargeleftinthebatterywhentheWeighScaleisturnedonand
disconnectedfromexternalpower.
FullyChargedBatteryIconbarsarealldisplayedconstantly.
Partially
Charged
BatteryIconshowsfirstfourbarsconstantly.
BatteryFlatNoBatteryIconbarsaredisplayed.
WhentheWeighScaleisconnectedtotheexternalpowersupplythebattery
iconwilldisplaythechargingstatus.
ChargingBatteryIconshowsallthebarsconstantlyfilling
andthendisappearing.
Lowbatterywarning
Whenthechargeremaininginthebatterydropstoaverylowlevel,thebattery
chargeiconontheWeighScalewillstarttoflashandfourbeepswillsoundevery
30seconds.Afterabout15minutes,theWeighScalewillshutdown.

Lowvoltageshutdown
Whenthebatterychargedropstoacriticallevel,theWeighScalewillshutdown.
Atthisstageitisnecessarytorechargethebattery.
Batteryvoltagewarning
IfthevoltagesuppliedfromthechargertotheWeighScaleisnotwithinthe
requiredrange(10.5V‐15V)orthebatterytemperaturerisesabove50°Cthe
WeighScalewillbeepandthebatterychargeiconwillstarttoflash.Itis
importantthatyouremovethechargerfromtheWeighScaleimmediately.
Batteryconditioning
WhentheWeighScaledetectsthebatteryvoltageisverylow,itwillperforma
batteryconditioningchargeprocess.Thisprocesswillprotectthebatteryby
limitingtheamountofcurrentthatisusedtorechargethebatterycells.Dueto
thecurrentlimitation,thechargecyclewilltake16hourstocomplete.By
performingafullconditioningcharge,thelifeofthebatterywillbegreatly
extended.
TheWeighScalecanbeusedwhilethebatteryconditioningisinprogress.The
remainingchargetimewillbedisplayedonthelowerscreenwhentheWeigh
Scaleisswitchedoff.
Note:Ifthechargecycleisinterrupted,theWeighScalewillattemptaconditioning
cyclethenexttimeitispluggedintoacharger.

ofthesesoftkeyschangesdependingonwhatthelowerscreendisplays.For

ThemodeselectswitchislocatedonthelefthandsideoftheWeighScale.
Themodeselectswitchhasfivepositions: ,A,M,FandS.Immediately
afteryouturntheswitchtoanypositionexcept,explanatoryinformationwill
displayonthelowerofthetwoWeighScalescreens.Theexplanatory
informationwilldisplayonlyforafewseconds;afteritdisappears,thescreen
displaysinformationrelevanttotheselectedoption.
ThispositionturnstheWeighScaleoff.
AThispositionselectsweighinginAutomaticmode.
YoucanalsostoreElectronicIDsandupdatetheWeighScale's
cross‐referencetablewhentherearenoloadbarsconnected.
MThispositionselectsweighinginManualmode.
Youcanalsorecordanimalinformation,withoutweighing,whenthere
arenoloadbarsconnected.

SETUP
ToaccesstheSetupmenu,turnthemodeselectswitchtoS.
ThesetupmenudisplaysonthelowerofthetwoscreensontheWeighScale.In
setupmode,themainscreennormallydisplaysthetimein24hourformat.Every
minutethemainscreenmomentarilydisplaysthedate,thenautomatically
revertstodisplayingthetimeagain.
Thesetupmenucontainssixoptions:
1. DRAFTMENU‐selectthedraftingmodeandspecifythedraftinglimit(s).
2. SESSIONMENU‐selectasessionandview,printordeletethesession.
3. SETTIMEANDDATE‐setthecurrenttimeanddate.
4. USEROPTIONS‐selectweightunits,turnVisualTagNumbercheckingonor
off,turnliveprintingonoroff,turnADGdisplayonoroff.
5. COMMUNICATIONS‐setupaconnectiontoacomputer,printer,Electronic
IDreaderorotherexternaldeviceandenabledraftingviatheautoDrafter.
6. SELECTCOUNTRY‐foraspecificcountry,selectsalanguageand
country‐specificterminologyandweightunit.

Selectingasetupoption
WhenyouturnthemodeselectswitchtoS,oneofthesetupmenuoptionsis
displayed.
ToselectanoptionfromtheSetupmenu:
1. Pressthe orsoftkeytodisplaytherequired
menuoption.
2. Press.
Alternatively,usingthekeypad,youcanpressthenumberofthemenuitemthat
youwanttoselect.

Backlighting
ThedefaultsettingforthisoptionisOFF.Whenbacklightingisturnedon,both
theupperandlowerLCDscreensarebacklitforaddedvisibility.
Usingbacklighting:
1. FromaSetupmenuoption,press twice.
2. Press repeatedlytoscrollthroughthelistuntilyoufindthe
backlightoptionyourequire.
3. Press againtoreturntotheSetupmenu.

c) Pressthesoftkeyuntiltherequireddraftingmodeis
displayed.

upto9‐way.
