10. Guarantees and Warranty
10.1 Pump Unit
All new pumps have a guarantee for a period of 2 years following the date of dispatch.
10.2 Mattress
All new mattresses have a guarantee for a period of 2 years following the date of
dispatch.
10.3 Guarantee
Drive DeVilbiss Healthcare guarantees to repair or place any equipment issued to its
customers, which is found to be faulty during the relevant guarantee or warranty period.
The Company’s guarantees are subject to following conditions:
a) That the equipment has been used for the purpose for which it was intended.
b) That the usage has been on a ‘fair wear and tear’ basis.
c) That the Company’s cleaning / disinfection guidelines have been followed.
d) That the Company’s maintenance guidelines have been followed.
e) That maintenance has been carried out by a Drive DeVilbiss approved engineer.
10.4 Warranty
Extended warranties can be purchased from Drive DeVilbiss, for more
information contact Customer Services on 0845 0600 333.
10.5 Claims relating to Guarantee and Warranty
In the event of a fault being discovered within the warranty period, the customer must
notify Drive DeVilbiss at the earliest opportunity.
If upon inspection, Drive DeVilbiss accepts liability then the equipment shall be
repaired or replaced immediately.
If Drive DeVilbiss does not accept liability it shall inform the customer of its
reasons for declination and provide the customer with an estimate on either the repair
or replacement cost.
Drive DeVilbiss reserves the right to alter or amend this document without prior
notice.

1. Introduction
This manual should be used for initial setup of the system and for reference purposes.
1.1 General Information
The Eclipse II System is an alternating overlay system suitable for both the treatment
and prevention of pressure ulcers.
1.2 Intended Use
This product is intended to reduce the incidence of pressure ulcers whilst optimising
patient comfort.
NOTE : Equipment not suitable for use in the presence of a
ammable anaesthetic mixture with air, oxygen or nitrous
oxide.
2. Product Description
The Eclipse II Mattress Overlay System offers a comfortable support surface whose
cells gently in ate and de ate in accordance with established alternating principles.
It is a highly ef cient, yet cost effective alternating system for both the prevention and
treatment of pressure ulcers. The Eclipse II mattress overlay is suitable for patients
who are at a Medium to High Risk of developing pressure ulcers. With clinical and cost
effectiveness paramount, the Eclipse II is both easy to install and operate, and along
with the CPR facility, is suitable for both hospital and home-care environments.
3. Installation
3.1 Unpacking
The pump unit and mattress are packaged in separate boxes to secure the contents
inside. When unpacking the boxes to remove the pump unit and mattress, check for any
damage which may have occurred during shipping. Please report any damages to Drive
DeVilbiss Healthcare and remove the system from use.

8. Troubleshooting

The pump is showing no
indication it is working
 Check if the mains are plugged in.
 Check if the mains are turned on.
 Check if the switch is on.
 Check if any fuse in the plug has blown.
The low-pressure light is
constantly on
 Check that the hoses are all connected.
 Check if there is any leakage in the mattress system.
The pump is on but not
in ating the mattress
 Disconnect hoses from pump and check if air is coming
out.
 Check that all hoses are connected securely.
 Check that the CPR is in place.
 Check that there are no obvious leaks in the mattress
system.
 Check that the pressure is in the suggested range for
the weight of the patient.
 Check that there are no kinks in the tubing running
down the side of the mattress.
The system does not appear
to be alternating
 Check that there are no kinks in the tubing running
down the side of the mattress.
The pump is operating
noisily  Make sure the pump is resting against a solid surface.

6. Storage
1. To store, lay the mattress out at and upside down.
2. Roll from the head end towards the foot end.
3. The foot end strap can then be stretched around the rolled mattress to prevent
unrolling.
NOTE : Do not fold, crease or stack the mattresses.
Avoid direct sunlight.
7. Maintenance
The entire timer assembly should be replaced every 3 years of service.
If a fault occurs please refer to troubleshooting or contact Drive DeVilbiss.

3.2 Setting Up
1. Place the Eclipse II Overlay System over the existing mattress with the cell and/or
vapour permeable cover uppermost. Secure the Eclipse II to the mattresss using
the securing straps.
2. Connect the tubes leading from the mattress to the outlet ports, in ation tubes
should be at the foot end of the bed.
NOTE : The Eclipse II pump must only be used with the
Eclipse II mattress, Eclipse Seat, or Eclipse full seat and
lumbar.
3. Refer to the comfort control setting and adjust the dial acording to the patient’s
weight. (see the patient weight guide, section 4.3)
4. Connect to the mains power supply and switch on the pump. At this stage both the
mains power and the low pressure indicators will illuminate.
5. Cover the support surface with a loosely tting sheet.
6. When the low pressure indicator has gone out, patient may be placed on the
support surface and further bedding can be added.
4. Operation
NOTE : Always read the operating instructions before use.
4.1 Transport Mode
If required, disconnect the hoses from the pump and join together. The system will then
equalise and retain mattress pressure once the pump has been shut off.
4.2 CPR Requirement
In the event of an emergency pull the CPR tag to de ate the mattress. If rapid de ation
of the mattress is required, disconnect the two hoses from the pump.
4.3 Support Setting Procedure
It is important to follow the correct support setting procedure so to ensure the patient
recieves adequate support, maximum pressure relief and comfort. Failure to do this
could result in the patient being put at risk.

1. Lie the patient on the mattress.
2. Reset the pressure dial on the pump according to the patient’s weight. Ensure the
correct pressure setting has been selected. Yellow weight settings indicate where
to position the dial if the patient is lying down, white weight settings indicate where
to position the dial if the patient is sitting up.
NB - for pump models without weights indicated on the dial, use the weight guide table below.
3. Maximum patient weight limit 140kgs (308lbs / 22 stones)
Minimum patient weight limit 31kgs (70lbs / 5 stones)
For patients weighing 31 kgs to 60 kgs set/turn the pressure dial to 60 kgs or
below

NB - The above is a guide only and the dial can be adjusted according to the individuals’ comfort
requirements.
5. Cleaning
The following guidelines are suggested by Drive DeVilbiss Ltd as being suitable
infection control procedures. Further information is available upon request.
5.1 Pump unit
General cleaning may be affected by using a cloth dampened with a mild detergent
and water solution. This approach may be followed either by wiping with a sodium
hypochlorite solution to a dilution of 1000 ppm or by using an alcoholic wipe.
Do not use hyper carbonate or phenol based cleaning solutions.
Do not use any abrasive compounds or cleaning pads.
5.2 Mattress
General Cleaning
During general use the mattress and tube set may be cleaned using a neutral detergent
solution. Using a single use wipe, clean the mattress cover and/or tube set with a
solution of neutral detergent and hand hot water. Rinse thoroughly with clean water and
a damp single use wipe. NOTE: The top, bottom and all four sides of the cover and tube
set, including under the zip aps MUST be cleaned.
Make sure the cover and tube set are completely dried before re tting the cover.

Disinfecting the mattress
If the cover and/or tube set is heavily soiled or has been exposed to bodily uids such
as blood, it will require a more thorough cleaning procedure:
Wipe the cover and/or tube set using a single use wipe and a 0.1% Chlorine Solution
(1,000ppm) and cold water. If required a 1% Chlorine Solution (10,000ppm) and cold
water can be used. Rinse thoroughly with clean water and a damp single use wipe.
Make sure the cover and tube set are completely dried before re tting the cover.
Surfaces must be protected during use and rinsed and thoroughly dried after
application of a disinfectant. Frequent or prolonged exposure to higher
concentration disinfectant solutions may prematurely age the fabric cover of
mattresses.
Laundering
Before laundering mattress covers should be completely removed. Where required
mattress covers and tube sets can be laundered as follows:
Pre wash 80ºC + 15 minutes
Main wash 80ºC + 15 minutes
This should be followed by a cold rinse and extraction.
Drying
Mattress covers and tube sets should be hung from a line or bar and drip dried in a clean
indoor environment.
Mattress covers can be tumble dried on a low heat setting for 90 minutes. Drying
temperature must not exceed 40°C. Exceeding this temperature can cause
signi cant damage to the mattress cover. Covers must be completely dried before
re tting to the tube set.
During cleaning procedures suitable protective clothing should be worn.
Ensure that mains power supply to the pump has been disconnected prior to
cleaning.
