Connecting theProjector
The cablesarecolorcoded toassistyouwithmakingthe connections.
Whenyouconnectthe powercabletotheprojector,thePowerlightonthe
keypad beginstoblink.
Youcan connectmorethan oneimage sourceatatime.Usethe Setuptabon

Using ImageManager
Withoneclick,Image Managerletsyouchoosethebestimagesettingsfor
yourpresentationtype.
Important:The Image ManagersettingsworkbestifyouselectResetfromthe
Adjusttabeachtimebeforeselecting anImageManagersetting.
1.PressMenuandusetheAdjust+-buttonstomovetothetab.
2.PressNexttomovetotheappropriateImageManagerfeature.
3.PressEntertoselectthatfeature.
4.PressMenutodismissthe menu orwaitforthemenutoclose
(about15seconds).
Photos(PC)matchesthehighercontrastfoundonastandardPCmonitor.
Thisfeatureisbestfor:
•imagescreated onaPC
•imagesfromadigitalcamera
•astarting pointforvideoinput.
Photos(MAC)matchesthelowercontrastfoundonastandardMACINTOSH
monitor.Itisgenerallyusedforimagescreated onorforaMACINTOSH.This
settingalsoworks wellwithaPCifyouareusinghigherthannormalcontrast
PCimages.
RichColorsresultsinan image withdeepcontrastandsaturatedvibrant
colors.It isgenerallyused underbrightlighting conditions.Thissettingworks
welltoenhancecolorsofcertaingraphics anditmaybe usefulwhenimages
createdforaMACINTOSHaredisplayed fromaPC.
Spreadsheetsresultsinan imagewithcontrastbetween aPCand
MACINTOSHmonitor.It isgenerallyused fortext-richtables,suchasfinancial
displays.Thissetting factorsinambientlight,subjectmatter,and personal
preferencestodeliverthe rightbalanceofcontrastandbrightness.
Graphicsdeliversthe highcontrastneeded toprojectgraphicsandtext
againstsolidcolored backgrounds.

Then,iffurtheradjustmentsareneeded,usethebrightnessand contrast
settingsontheAdjusttab.

2.Usethe Nextbuttontomovetothefeaturethatyouwanttoadjust.
3.UsetheAdjust+-buttonstomovethesliderbars.Ifyouwishtoreturnto
the factorydefaultsettings,useNexttohighlightResetandpressEnter.
Note:Thevolumecanalsobeadjustedfromtheremotecontrol.
Brightnesscontrolsthe intensityoftheimage.
Contrastcontrolsthe degreeofdifferencebetweenthe lightestanddarkest
partsofthe image.
Colorcontrolsthesaturationofthecolors.
Tintcontrolsthered-greencolorbalance.

Setting UptheImageSource
The featuresthatareavailableonthe Setuptabdependonthetype ofimage
sourcethatyouareusing.
1.PressMenuandusetheAdjust+-buttonstogototheSetup tab.
2.Usethe Nextbutton toselectafeature.
3.Usethe Adjust+-buttonstoselectan optionfortheselected feature.
If youwishtoreturntothefactorydefaultsettings,useNexttohighlight
ResetandpressEnter.
Sourceoptionsarecomputer,videoandS-video.When youchangesources,a
sourcestatusmessageappearsindicatingiftheprojectorisreceivingasignal
fromthatsource.

Projectionoptionsarefront,rearandceiling.
•Frontprojectionisusedforprojectingstraightahead ontoascreen.
•Rearprojectionreversesthe image ifyouwishtoprojectfrombehindthe
screen.
•Useceilingprojectionwhen youattachthe projectortoapermanentceiling
bracket.
HPositionandVPositionadjustmentsareavailableonlyforimagesfroma
computer.
AdjustFrequencyandTrackingofimagesfromacomputeruntilthe image is
evenlyspaced,fuzzyverticallinesdisappear,ortheprojected image isaswide
asthemenu.
VideoFormatreferstotheheightandwidthratiooftheprojected image.The
4:3ratioisthestandardformat.Usethe16:9ratiowhenprojectingwide screen
(anamorph)moviesin16:9format.
WerecommendleavingAGC(AutomaticGainControl)turnedon.When itis
turnedon,the image isautomaticallyadjustedifthevideosignalistoostrong
ortooweak.
Selecting aLanguage
Theon-screen menuscan be displayedinseven languages.
1.PressMenuandusetheAdjust+-buttonstogotothe Languagetab.
2.PressNexttohighlightthe desired language.
3.PressEntertoselectthelanguage.

Checking theStatus
The informationdisplayed ontheStatustabdependsonthetype ofimage
sourceyouuse.
The ResetLampHoursfeatureistheonlyitemthatcan be adjusted onthis
screen.Refertothe LampHoursUsed when youwanttoknowhowmuch
longeryourlampwilllast.Estimatedlamplifeexpectancyis2,000 to4,000
hours.
Important:Onlyresetthelamphoursafteryouhaveinstalledanewlamp.
Toresetlamphours
1.Press Menuandusethe Adjust+-buttonstogototheStatustab.
2.PressNexttohighlightResetLampHours.
3.PressEnter.
TheLampHoursUsednumberresetstozero.
Turning Off theProjector

Transporting theProjector
Whenyouplacethe projectorinthecarryingcasemakesurethelensis
positioned inside the lensnotchofthe foaminsert.Securethe projectorwith
the velcrostrap.
Important:Thecarryingcaseprovidedwiththeprojectorisnotdesigned tobe
checked throughbaggage.If youcannothandcarrythisprojectormakesure
itispacked properlytopreventdamage.The warrantydoesnotcoverdamage
fromimproperhandling.

Maintenance
Changing theLampModule
Important:ThelampintheLCDDigitalProjectorcontainstraceamountsof
mercury.Somegovernmentsrequirespecialdisposaloflampscontaining
mercury.Disposeoflampsinaccordancewiththe lawandanyapplicablelocal
regulations.
The lampmoduleshouldbe replacedwithacertifiedreplacementpart.To
orderanewlamp,contactyourlocaldealer.
Afteryouhavechangedthe lampmodule,makesurethatyouresetthe lamp
counter.See“Toresetlamphours”onpage 15.
Warning:Whenreplacingthe lamp,besuretoturnoffthepowerandunplug
thepowercord.Toavoidburns,wait30minutesbeforeopeningthe lamp
moduledoor.
Warning:When youopen the lampmoduledoor,becarefultonottouchthe
hotsurfacesinside.
Warning:Donotloosenorremoveanyscrewsotherthan thoseonthe lamp
moduledoorand the lampmodule.Doingsomayresultinelectricshock.
Toreplacethelampmodule:
1.Turnoff theprojectorandletthe projectorcoolforatleast30minutes.
Thefan continuestorun afterthe projectorhasbeen turned off.
2.Unplugthepowercordfromthe projector.
3.Turntheprojectorupside down.Withaflatheadscrewdriver,loosenbutdo
notremovetheslottedscrewinthe lampmoduledoor.
4.Liftuponthe screwside ofthelampmoduledoor.Then carefullyremove
the lampmodulecover.

5.Loosen thetwoslotted screwsonthelampmodulebracket.
6.Gentlyliftand pull up on the metalwiretoremovethelampmodule.
Caution:Donottouchtheglassportionofthenewlampmodulewith
yourhandsorallowittotouchotherobjectsasthismaydamageitand
shortenitsoperationallife.
Caution:Donotdropthelampmoduleas theglassmayshatterand
causeinjury.
7.Carefullyplacethenewlampmoduleintotheprojector,withtheglass
portionfacingleft.Makesurethatitisinserted securelyandthatthe two
locationholesmatchthetwolocationpinsoftheinnerenginecase.Tighten
the slotted screws.
8.Replacethe lampmoduledoorandtighten thescrew.
9.Resetthe lampusage counter.See“Toresetlamphours”onpage15.
Important:Theonlytimethatyou shouldresetthecounterisafteryouhave
replacedthe lampmodule.
Cleaning theProjection Lens
1.Turnoff theprojectorandallowittocool.
2.Removethelenscap.
3.Applyanon-abrasivecameralenscleanertoasoft, drycloth.
Caution:Avoidusinganexcessiveamountofcameralenscleaner.Do
notuse abrasivecleaners,solventsorotherharshchemicalsasthey
mightscratchthelens.Donotspillanycameralenscleaneronthe
exteriorcaseasitmayfade,deformormelttheexteriorcase.
4.Lightlywipe the cleaningclothoverthe lens.
5.Ifyoudo notintendtousetheprojectorimmediately,replacethelenscap.

Cleaning theExteriorCase
1.Turnoff theprojectorandallowittocool.
2.Toremovedirtordust,gentlywipethe exteriorcasewithasoft,dry,lint-free
cloth.
3.Toremovestubborndirtorstains,moistenasoftclothwithwateranda
neutraldetergentandgentlywipethe exteriorcase.
Caution:Donotuse alcohol,benzene,thinnerorotherchemicalcleaners
whichmay fade,deformormelttheexteriorcase.Donotapplythe
detergentsolutiontotheprojectorlensasitmay scratchthelens.
Cleaning theAirFilter
Toensureproperventilation insideyourmultimediaprojector,theairfilter
shouldbeperiodicallycleaned.Morefrequentcleaningmayberequiredifyou
useyourprojectorinadustyordirtyenvironment.
Caution:Iftheairfilterisnotcleanedperiodically,itcanbecome
cloggedwithdustandpreventproperventilation.Thismaycause
overheating anddamage.
Important:Ifthe filtercannotbe cleanedorbecomesdamaged ortorn,it
shouldbepromptlyreplaced withancertifiedreplacementpart. Contactyour
dealerofproductsforadditionalinformation.
1.Turnoff theprojectorandwaitforthe fantostoprunning.
2.Unplugtheprojector.
3.Turntheprojectoronitssidesothattheconnectionpanelisfacing
upwards.
Note:Standingtheprojectoronitssidekeepsdustfromgettinginside.
4.Locatetheairfiltercoveronthebottomoftheprojectorandslidethe cover
latchdownwardtoremovethe cover.
The airfilterisattachedtothe insideofthe airfiltercover.
5.Useasoftbrushtocleanthe airfilterbeing carefulnottotearthefilteror
loosenit.
Caution:Installing awetordampairfiltermaydamageyourprojector.
6.Replacethe airfiltercoveronthe projector.Makesurethatitclicksinto
place.
Caution:Neverreplacetheairfiltercoverwithouttheairfilterattached;
thisallowsdusttogetinside.Neveroperateyourprojectorwithoutthe
airfiltercoverinplace.
Doingsomay damageyourprojector.
