TONE/PULSE SWITCH
Selectthe type of dialing that you desireor that your telephone system requires.
TONE-Thephonewilloperateusingtonedialing.(Ifyourphonedoesn’tdialout,
switchto PULSE.)
PULSE-The phone will dialusing rotarypulsedialing.
NOTE: Even when your phone isset to pulseservice, this phone can be switched to
temporarytone dialing for access to servicesthat require tone signaling like
computer systems.Justpress the button after dialing inpulseand your
buttonscan now be used for tonesignaling for thiscall only.

PHONEOPERATION
RECEIVING CALLS AS ANORMAL TELEPHONE
When the phone rings:
1. Lift the HANDSET and speakinto the mouthpieceof the HANDSET.
2.Hang up the HANDSET when the conversation iscompleted.

MAKING CALLSAS ANORMAL TELEPHONE
1.Selectthe desireddialing modewith theTONE/PULSEswitch(do this onlythefirst
time).
2.Pick up the HANDSET and listen for adialtone.
3.Dialyour call.
LASTNUMBERREDIALING
The lastnumber you called from the keypad can be redialed bypressing the REDIAL/
PAUSE button. Thisisusefulifthe number called isbusy.
Getanew dialtone and press the REDIAL/PAUSE button. Thisphone will remember
the lastnumber dialed even overnight. If you do not want anyone to know which
number you dialed last, pick up the phone and press anynumber &hang up.
PAUSE FUNCTION
If you makeadialwithapauseinthe number,simplypress the REDIAL/PAUSE button
for the pause.
INCOMINGCALLINDICATOR
Thislamplocated near the RECEIVER VOLUME button will flashwhen the phone
rings.Thisisusefulto see incoming callsand to locate the phone inadarkroom.
NOTE: Even if RINGER switchisinthe OFF position the lampwill flash.
TEMPORARY TONE DIALING
Temporarytone dialing isused onlywhen you haveolder rotaryservice. It allowsyou
accessto servicesthatrequire tone signaling, includingsometone-activatedcomputer
system(e.g.,telephone banking).
Tochange from pulse(rotary)to tone dialing during acall:
1. Dialatelephone number withthe TONE/PULSE switchset to PULSE.
2. Press button; all buttonspressed after thiswill send tone signals.
3. After you hang up, the phone automaticallyreturnsto rotaryservice.
VOLUME CONTROL
Youcanadjustthe soundlevelofthehandset receiverbyadjustingtheRECEIVER
VOLUMEsetting.

5.PressamemorynumberfromM1to M3(whereyouwouldlikeyournumber stored).

STORING TELEPHONE NUMBERSINTOMEMORYLOCATIONS
NOTE3. Ifyoumoveyourphonetoanother roomordisconnectthephone line,
your stored numberswill remaininthe memoryfor ashort time, so
quicklyreconnectit to the newjack or youwillhavetore-programthe
memorynumbers.
NOTE4. Iftheoperatorcomesinduringstoring numberswiththemessage “your
phoneis offthehook”,ignore this.Duringstoringofnumbersthecircuit
simulatesan off hookcondition. Thisisnormal. Wesuggestyou program
thenumbersquickly toavoidoperatormessages.
TOLISTYOUMEMORYNUMBERS
1.Lift outtheMemoryIndexcard fromunderthe receiver.
2.WritenumbersonMemoryIndexnexttoM1,M2, and M3(inpencilsoyoucan
changethemlater).
TODIALANUMBER FROM MEMORYBUTTONS
1.Pick up receiver(to getdialtone).
2.Press the button inwhichthe number you want to dialisstored, M1, M2or M3, etc.
Theset will dialthe numberstored inthememoryyouselectedautomatically.
EXAMPLE: Pressing M2will dial(inTONEor PULSE) the number you stored inM2.

NOTE1. Ifyouwant to store acalling cardnumberintooneofyour memories,
youmaydo this thesamewayyouprogramaphonenumber intomemory.
Alsoif you needapauseinthenumber,simplypressthe REDIAL/PAUSE
buttononyour phone.
NOTE2. Emergencycalling is an important safetyfeaturethat shouldbe used
wisely.Ifyouprograman emergencynumberintothememory-markit
clearlyand testit beforean emergency.Weassumeno responsibility

FOLLOWTHESE INSTRUCTIONS TO MOUNT THEPHONE ONTHE
WALLWITHOUT AWALLPLATE
Follow theseinstructionsto mount the phone on the
wall without awall plate:
1.Locate awall stud. If it is possibleto utilizeawall
stud for mounting, drywall expandersor asimilar
type fastener isrecommended. Consult your local
hardware storesfordetails.
2.Drill 2holes3 15/16"(100 mm)apart.
3.Put ascrew into eachholeand leave 3/16"(5mm)
of the head exposed to mount the phone (screws
are not included).
4.Connectthe straight cord to the phone and jack.
5.Placethe TELEPHONEBASEonthe 2mounting
screwsand gentlypushdown to lock into place.

CLEANINGANDMAINTENANCE
1.Keepthephone awayfrombathtub, water or veryhigh heat and humidity(keep
awayfromstoveorradiators).
2.Avoidplacing it inveryhot sun.
3.Do not staple phone cord.
4.Do not, under anycircumstances,disassemblethe telephone without disconnecting
the cord from the telephone line first. Ringer voltagescan be high and dangerous.
5.Cleaning the exterior surfaceof the setshouldbe done on aregular basis.Usea
cloth slightlydampened withwarm, cleanwater to removeexcess dustand dirt. Do
not usebenzine, thinner,or the like, oranyabrasivepowder to clean the cabinet.
Wipe it with a soft cloth. The set shouldbekept free of dust, moisture and vibration,
and shouldnot be exposed to directsunlight.
6. DO NOT USE WAXES, SOLVENTSOR DETERGENTS OF ANYKIND TOCLEAN
YOUR UNIT. These productscan damage the surfaceof the phone. Do not allow
anyliquidsto get inside the case.

phone line isbad or the phone.
2.If disconnection of your equipment endsthe problem, your telephone maybe the
sourceof the trouble and it shouldbe tested and repaired if necessarybefore it is
reconnected.
3.There are no user maintainablepartsor adjustmentson thisset. Should your phone
require repair,contactusfor instructions(exceptforcordswhichyoucanbuyat
anyphonestore).
