BATTERYSAFETYINSTRUCTIONS

1.Use only thefollowing type and sizeof batteries: 4size “AA”alkaline batteries (not
included).
2.Do not dispose of the batteries into afire. The cells may explode. Checkwith local
codesforpossiblespecial disposal instructions.
3.Do not openor mutilatethebatteries. Releasedelectrolyteis corrosiveandmaycause
damageto the eyesor skin.Itmaybe toxic ifswallowed.
4.Exercise care in handling batteries inordernotto shortthebattery with conducting
materialssuchas rings,braceletsand keys.The battery orconductor may over heat
and cause burns.
5.Do not attempt to recharge the batteriesthat areused with thisproduct.Thebatteries
mayleakcorrosive electrolyte or explode.
6.Do not attempt to rejuvenatethebatteries identified for use with thisproductby heating
them. Sudden release ofthebatteryelectrolytemaycause burnsorirritation to eyes or

of time(severalmonthsor more)since during this timethebatteries couldleak, damaging
the product.
10.Discardweak ordead batteriesas soonas possiblesince they are morelikely to leakin
theproduct.Batteriesshould bereplaced when thedisplaygetsdim orif theLow
Battery Indicatorappearsin thedisplay.
11.Do notstore thisproductin hightemperature areas.Batteriesthatarestoredin a
freezerorrefrigerator forthepurposeofextendingshelf lifeshouldbe protected
from condensation duringstorageand defrosting. Batteries should bestabilized at
room temperature priorto use aftercold storage.
12.If thisproductdoesnotoperatenormally,see TROUBLE SHOOTINGon pages9and
10. If youcannot resolvethe problem, orif the product is damaged, referto the
LENOXXWARRANTYINFORMATION on the last page. Opening or removing covers
mayexpose you to dangerousvoltagesorotherrisks.Incorrect reassembly cancause

SETTING UPLCDCONTRAST,LANGUAGE,AREACODE, TIME ANDDATE
Youmayneedtosetup the LCD contrastlevel, language,area code,timeanddate for your
telephone when you poweryour phoneforthefirsttime orwhen you move to anarea that
hasadifferentarea code.Areacode setting isnecessary because the phonemust distinguish
local or long distancecalls toproperly dial callsfrom the CallerID list.
Press and holdthe DELETE buttondown, then pressthe DOWN button,thefollowing will
showinthedisplay(FIG. 1). Release the DELETEbutton,press the UPorDOWNbuttonto
choosetheLCDcontrastlevel (1-5).Pressthe DELETEbuttonto confirmand accept. In
general,youcanpresstheDISPLAYbutton directlytosetthe LCDcontrast. Then the
display willcome to the language setting.

1.Arrange thebracket on the correct position of the bottom
of the base, please note the arrow onthe bracket.
2.Insertthetwolowertabs on the bracket intothecorresponding
slots onthebottom of thebase.
3.Pushthetwo upper tabson the bracket to insertthem into
thecorresponding slots onthebottomofthebase.
4.Toseparatethebracketfrom the base,pushthetwo upper
tabsonthebracket and pull the bracket out.
Theplastic bracket should be installedcorrectlyforproper
deskuse.

Press the UPorDOWNbuttonto choose your desired language (flashing).Press the

Then the displaywill ask you to set your AreaCode(FIG. 3):
While the first digit is flashing, you should:
1.PresstheUPbuttontillthefirstdigitofyour areacode is
displayed (flashing).
2.Press the DELETE button to accept and go to the next digit.
3.Repeat steps 1and 2above to set the 2nd and 3rd digits of
yourareacode.
Youdo not haveto set up the Time and Date because the
telephone companywillautomaticallyupdatethiswith
your CallerID when your phone rings (twiceor more). To
getback tothestandbymode (for dialing),press the DELETE
buttonrepeatedlyuntil thenormal displayshows.

CHOOSINGTONEORPULSE DIALING
Selectthetypeofdialingthatyour telephonesystem requiresby setting the TONE/PULSE
switch (on the rearof the telephone).
TONE -The set willoperate usingtone dialing.
PULSE -Thesetwilldial usingrotary dial typepulses(clicking sounds).
Ifyouarenotsureofyourdialingsystem,make atrial call withtheswitch set to TONE.If the
call connects,leave the switchasit is; otherwise, set it toPULSE.
NOTE: Tousecaller ID service, you will probablyneedTONE dialing.

1.Press the STOREbutton. (shortforprogramming) appears in thedisplay..

HOLDFUNCTION
Youcantemporarily hold the line by pressing the HOLDbutton during conversation, “HOLD”
will flashin the display,andyoucanreplacethehandseton the basewithoutdisconnecting
thecall. Picking up the handset orpressing the SPEAKERPHONE button onthis phoneor
anyphone onthesame line will stopthehold function.
FLASHFUNCTION
Useful for callwaitingor getting anew dialtone.

CALLINGBACK FROM THECALLERIDLIST
1. Display the phonenumberyouwanttocallback usingtheUP or DOWN button.
2.Press the CALL BACK button.
3.Press the CALLBACKbuttononceortwice more to choosethenumberof call-backdigit
to be dialedout(7 digits-phonenumber byitself, or 10 digits-area code +phone
number,or11digits -1+areacode +phone number), differentparts of the country have
different dialing systems even for localcalls.
4.Pick uptheHANDSETorpress the SPEAKERPHONE button, the phonewill dial the number
displayed.

1.Displaythe phonenumber you wantto store(bypressing UPorDOWNbutton).

DELETINGTHEDATAFROMTHECALLERIDLIST
Todelete the Caller IDmemoryonebyone
1.Displaythe Caller sID you wantto delete (by pressing UP orDOWN button).
2.Press the DELETE button, the display willshow “DELETE CALL?”,press the DELETE
buttononcemore, the display changes to show the nextor previouscall, and the data is
deleted.
Todelete ALL theCaller IDmemories
1.When the phoneis not in use (the phoneisin normal standby mode),press the DELETE
button and hold for 3seconds, the display shows “DELETE ALL?”.
2.Press theDELETEbutton once more, thedisplay changesto “NO CALLS”and all the
CallerID memories(including the new callmemories) are deleted.
USING MESSAGE WAITING/MAILBOX
Touse the Message Waiting indication feature, you mustsubscribe tothis service if available
from yourlocaltelephonecompany.
CALLERID OPERATION
Yournewtelephone has CallerID feature and if yousubscribe toCallerID service, the
Caller stelephone number (if available), Name, TimeandDateofthecallwill bedisplayed
between the first and second ring of thephone. The phonestores the data of the last 81
calls receivedincluding “UNAVAILABLECALL”and “PRIVATECALL”.It keepstrackofall
calls received,eveniftheywerenotanswered.
VIEWING THE CALLERIDLIST
Youcanlookthroughthedata (calls) in theCallerID listto checkthenumbersandnames
of the callsreceived.
1.Press the DOWN button toviewyour callsfrom the newestcall.
2.Press the UPbuttonto viewcalls from oldercalls to newerones.
NOTE: When thebatteriesareweak, the low batteryindicator isdisplayed. Change
thebatteries assoon aspossible; otherwisetheCallerID listmaybe erased.
