EN Installation and configuration manual
VistaCam iX
Only trained experts may position and install the appliance and start it
up for the first time.
Minimum system requirements
Imaging program VistaSoft, VistaConnect, DBSWIN or VistaEasy by
Dürr Dental
Third-party software on request
Computer system See "System requirements for computer systems for

1 Connection to computer
The USB connecting cable for the connection to the computer is included
in the delivery contents. When the power supplied using a cable alone is
insufficient then the USB-connecting cable with power unit (order number
2108-150-52) or an active USB-Hub should be used.
To extend the cable to 10 m, you need:
- active Hub (no need for USB connection cable with power supply)
- USB repeater 4,8 m (Order-No. 2106-155-63)
- USB extension cord, max. 2,5 m
Where a Tower or Desktop-PC is being used then always use one
of the USB-connections at the back of the PC. Do not connect the
camera to a front USB-connection.
2 VistaSoft/VistaConnect
2.1 Installation
VistaSoft
The camera can be used directly after connection. The installation of a unit
driver is not necessary.
VistaConnect
iStart driver installation under Start > All programs > Duerr Dental >
Driver Setup > Install Dürr Dental drivers.
iSelect the required language.
The Dürr Dental Driver Setup installation wizard opens.
iFollow the instructions of the installation wizard.
2.2 Configuration
The camera is preconfigured in the imaging software and can be used
directly.
Setting-up the unit
The unit settings are only available for units with firmware version
1.9 and higher (from serial number C001929; update firmware if
necessary).
Acquisition settings
Camera triggering Time at which the still image is created if the
capture ring is pressed:
– Focus and capture on pressing
– Focus and capture on release
Standby settings
Standby time Time until automatic switch-off if the camera is
not moved.
Preset: 2 minutes (120 seconds)
iClick on Units [Geräte].
iWorking in the list, click on the unit VistaCam iX.
iClick Configure [Konfigurieren].
iClick Unit settings.
iSelect „Settings“.
iClose Flyout to save the changes.
Test camera
You can test the function of the capture ring and the recognition of the
interchangeable head.
iClick on Units [Geräte].
iWorking in the list, click on the unit VistaCam iX.
iClick Configure [Konfigurieren].
iClick on Maintenance.
iClick on Capture ring.
The option box is filled if the software recognises that the capture ring has
been pressed.
iClick on Camera head.
iThe option box is filled if the software recognises that the interchangeable
head has been placed on.
3 DBSWIN/VistaEasy
3.1 Installation
• Close all programs.
• Insert the supplied DBSWIN DVD (from Version 5.2) into the DVD drive.
The start screen appears.
• If the DVD does not start to play automatically, execute the file
CD_Start.exe.
• Select the required language.
• Open the Driver tab.
• Click Duerr Dental Driver Installation.

• Confirm the message with OK.
The Dürr Dental Driver Setup installation wizard opens.
• Follow the instructions of the installation wizard.
3.2 Configuration
The configuration differs depending on the imaging program used:
- DBSWIN: See „Setting up the configuration in DBSWIN“ (additional set-
tings can be made in VistaCamConfig)
- VistaEasy and third-party software (e.g. Sidexis): See „Setting up the
configuration in VistaCamConfig“
Setting up the configuration in DBSWIN
• Start DBSWIN.
• Choose Options > Show configuration from the menu.
• Click the Modules button.
• Double-click Video.
The Video Properties window opens.
Setting up image export
• Go to the Settings tab.
• Activate/deactivate Autoexport images.
Each image is automatically copied to a defined path. The path, file for-
mat, and other settings can be made in the light table module.
Setting the video source
The camera is installed as Video source1.
A second camera (e.g. VistaCam CL.iX) cannot be installed together with
the VistaCam iX.
• Select option Video source1.
• Select VistaCam iX.
• In Use half-frames, select Both (full frame).
Setting the WDM driver
• Go to the WDM tab.
The WDM-driver Duerr Dental VistaCam iX will automatically be selected.
• Activate/deactivate noise reduction.
If noise reduction is active, the set number of images are captured one
after the other for each imaging operation. The system uses these images
to generate a new image that eliminates interference to the greatest extent
possible.
Pressure sensitive release
• Go to the Pressure sensitive release tab.
• Select the function for the manual capture ring:
- Record
- Still/Live
- Full
- Activate
- Press
- Still/Live+Record (preset)
• Check manual capture ring signal using the control lighting.
Saving the configuration
• Click Apply.
• Click OK.
The window closes automatically.

Setting up the configuration in VistaCamConfig
• Start VistaCamConfig using Start > All programs > Duerr Dental >
VistaConfig > VistaCamConfig.
The camera is automatically detected and activated.
Changing settings
• Go to the Settings tab.
Display The best possible values are automatically entered
here during the installation.
WDM driver The best possible values are automatically entered
here during the installation.
Advanced settings
LED intensity

Not possible with VistaCam iX.
This setting has no effect.
Pressure sensitive release
Function Select the function for the manual capture ring:
- Shooting
- Shooting + Pause (preset)
- Switch between Pause/Live
- Full image viewing

Time between removal from handpiece holder and
activation of camera - the optimum value is preset.
• To change the configuration, click .
• Change the settings.
• Check manual capture ring signal using the control lighting if necessary.
• To save the configuration, click .
• To cancel the changes to the configuration, click .
Testing the camera and configuration
• Go to the Test tab.
• Click Take picture.
VistaEasyView starts up.
• Capture an image with the camera.
• Close VistaEasyView.
• To check the image file, click View image file.
Saving the configuration
• Click Close configuration.
The configuration is saved. The window closes.
4 Electrical safety test
• Carry out an electrical safety test in accordance with national and local
regulations (e.g. measure the leakage current for the patient).
• Record the results.
