Foundation Preparation
1.1 Fill the trenches to ground level with concrete and let cure, or harden. Since curing times
vary between brands, read the packaging for recommended curing times.
1.2 Once the concrete has cured, use standard-sized bricks and lay them across the foundation.
You will need roughly 110 bricks for this step.

Assemble The Bottom Frame
2.1 Assemble the frame using 3 1/2” x 3 1/2” pressure-treated material. You will need two boards
cut to 12’ that will be the rim joist and two boards cut to 8' that will be the joist.
2.2 For the corners, use an overlapping joint. Use Node A as a reference on how to make the cuts
and how to make the connections.
2.3 Secure the beams into the frame with 2x3" wood screws.
2.4 Using a speed square or carpenter's square, check the corners to make sure they are 90 degrees.

Assemble The Wall Studs
3.1 Using 3 1/2" x 3 1/2" pressure-treated material, cut ten studs and assemble using
the illustrations below as a reference.
3.2 Use 4 1/2 “ x 4 1/2 “ x 1/2 “ L-brackets and 8x1” wood screws to secure the corners.
3.3 Make sure the corners are 90 degrees using a carpenter’s square or speed square.
STEP 3

Assemble The Top Frame
4.1 Assemble the top frame using 3 1/2” x 3 1/2” pressure-treated material. You will need two
boards cut to 12’ that will be the rim joist and two boards cut to 8' that will be the joist.
4.2 For the corners, use an overlapping joint.
4.3 Using 3 1/2" x 3 1/2" pressure-treated material, cut inner joist and assemble using the
illustrations below as a reference.
4.4 Secure the beams and studs with 2x5" wood screws.
4.5 Using a speed square or carpenter's square, check the corners to make sure they are 90 degrees.

Coop's Roost Assembly
8.1 Using 1 1/2 “ x 2 1/2 “ pressure-treated material, cut the frame for the roost as shown in
the below illustrations and attach using 3” wood screws.
8.2 Using 1 1/2 “ x 1 1/2 “ pressure-treated material, cut the stairs for the roost as shown in the
below illustrations and attach using 2” wood screws.

Assemble The Roof Frame
9.1 Use 1 1/2 “ x 5 1/2 “ material to create 14 rafters.
9.2 Use 1 1/2 “ x 3 1/2 “ material to create four collar ties.
9.3 Use 3/4 “ x 7 1/4 “ material to create the ridge board.
9.4 Connect the beams with 2x3" wood screws.

Install the Roof Sheathing
10.1 Cut sheets of 9/16” plywood for sheathing the roof using the drawing below as a guide.

Framing The Side Walls
11.1 Using 1 1/2 “ x 3 1/2 “ pressure-treated material, cut two rough sills and two window
headers and attach them using the illustration below as a reference.
11.2 Secure the sills to the studs with 4x5" wood screws.

STEP 11

Nesting Box Assemble
It is necessary to make two boxes for the right and left walls.
12.1 Using 1 1/2 “ x 2 1/2 “ material, assemble the frame for the nesting boxes using the illustration
below as a guide. Make sure to take note of the 9 degree slope needed for the roof of the nesting boxes.
12.2 Cover the top and bottom of the nesting boxes with 9/16” plywood and secure with 2” wood screws.
12.3 Prepare and install starter courcer from the pressure-treated lumber with cross section 1/4" x 3/4".
Prepare the 1/2" x 6" wood siding boards in the required amount according to the drawing. Cut the
shield's top part according to the angle of rafter slope. Assemble siding shields with 2" galvanized nails to
the frame beams.
12.4 Cut the trim boards for the wall using the following size of materials: 3/4 “ x 1” , 3/4 “ x 2 1/2 “ and
3/4 “ x 3”. Use the illustration as a reference to ensure you are cutting at the appropriate angles.
12.5 Assemble the door frame using 1 1/2 “ x 2 1/2 “ material.
12.6 Install two 3" door hinges using 6x1" wood screws. Finish the door installation by attaching
4" surface bolt and 6" door pull.
12.7 Cover the roof of the nesting boxes with corrugated roof panels and secure with 1 1/2 “ sheet metal
screws and neoprene washers.
12.8 Install nest box assembles with the help of two corner braces and 8x1" wood screws. Connect the
box frame and coop's frame by 5" wood screws.

STEP 122

Assemble and Install Coop Doors
13.1 Assemble the frame from the pressure-treated lumber with cross section 1 1/2" x 2 1/2 "
with 2x5" wood screws according to the drawing.
13.2 Install door trims from the pressure-treated lumber with cross section 1 1/2" x 3/4" with
2" wood screws according to the drawing.
13.3 Prepare and install starter courcer from the pressure-treated lumber with cross section
1/4" x 3/4".
13.4 Prepare the 1/2" x 6" wood siding boards in the required amount according to the drawing.
13.5 Assemble siding shields with 2" galvanized nails.
13.6 Install three 3" door hinges using 2x1" wood screws. Finish the door installation by
attaching 4" surface bolt and 6" door pulls (see nodes U,V,T).

Aviary's Door Assemble And Installation
14.1 Assemble the frame from the pressure-treated lumber with cross section 2 1/2" x 3 1/2"
with 2x5" wood screws according to the drawing.
14.2 Prepare 1/4" wire mesh in the required quantity and install it on the inner side of the
frame with the help of industrial stapler.
14.3 Install three 4" door hinges using 6x2" wood screws. Finish the door installation by
attaching 4" surface bolt and 6" door pull (see figures AC, AD).

Installing Corrugated Roofing
16.1 You will need roughly 140 Sq Ft of corrugated roofing for this step.
16.2 Fasten the panels with 1 1/2" sheet metal screw with neoprene washer.
16.3 Prepare and install metal roof ridge caps according to the drawing.

Final touches
Now that your coop is all done, you are ready to decorate it any way you want using your favorite
paint, stain, or preservative.
