The test pins are now connected to a safe earthed contact
Attention:
Only the test pins supplied with the Xiria switchgear can be used. Do not use any
other test connection to perform
4) When the test pin is inserted, the integrated earth connection can be disconnected by
pulling the earth tube to the front. See figure 4:

5) The test voltage can now be applied to the cable via the test pin(s).
After finishing this test the earth tubes must be pushed back into the front for safely
earthing the test connections again.
6) To switch the Xiria switchgear back in Service position:
• Push the earth tubes back into the front
• Remove the test pin(s) from the test connection
• Lock the access the the test connections openings by turning the interlock knob clockwise.
• Put the CTF front plate in the upright closed position and lock it wht the front knobs and optionally
with the padlock.
7) Switch the Xiria switchgear in Service position. See figure 5:

With the Cable Test Facility (CTF) the primary cable can be tested up to 12kV without
opening the cable compartment door. This is done by replacing the integrated earth
connection with the test pins. Disconnecting the earthed connection and access to the test
connections with the test pins is only possible when the breaker is closed in earthed position
(Earthed cable position).
1) Switch the Xiria switchgear to Earthed cable position. See figure 1:

2) Open de CTF front cover plate by removing the padlock (if placed) and turn the front
knobs anti-clockwise. See figure 2:

Attention:
For safety reasons the CTF front cover plate is earthed with an earth wire. Do not
remove this wire.
3) Release the test connection openings by turning the interlock knob anti-clockwise in
vertical position and insert the test pin(s). See figure 3:

Interlocking the panel with padlocks:
Service position:
The Cable Test Facility (CTF) is earthed in Service position.
Disconnecting the earthed connection of the CTF is not possible.
The Xiria switchgear can be locked against opening with padlock S1.
Earthed cable position:
The CTF is safely earthed in Earthed cable position.
Disconnection the earthed connection of the CTF is possible in this
position.
The Xiria switchgear can be locked against opening with padlock S1.
Open position:
The CTF is also safely earthed when the vacuum interrupter is in Open
position.
In this position disconnecting the earthed connection of the CTF is not
possible.
The Xiria switchgear can be locked against closing with padlock S2.
By using padlock S3 the Change-Over Switch van be padlocked in either
busbar or earthed position.
Note:
During the described cable test procedure the cable compartment door is unlocked.
However for cable testing no access to the cable compartment is needed.
Blocking of the Change-Over Switch:
• Turn the flap to cover the control point
• Lock the flap with padlock S3
• Clip can be max. Ø 8mm
Blocking of the switch on control point:
• Turn the flap to cover the control point
• Lock the flap with padlock S2
• Clip can be max. Ø 8mm
Blocking of the switch off button:
• Turn the flap to cover the off button
• Lock the flap with padlock S1
• Clip can be max. Ø 7mm
