Chapter 1Introduction
1.1BriefofFunction
Thisunit isahigh-tech productdesigned to suit thefastmoving society
and to meettheincreasing demand ofconsumer. Therearevarious
dictionariesin theunit: Eng-Viet, Viet-Eng, Eng-Eng, Professional
Dictionary, PracticalDictionary, Conversation, Revision Test,
PharsalVerbs, VietIdiomsand User'sDictionary. Usercan choose
any oneofthemforfurtherreference. To help usersto learn
languagemorequickly and comprehensively, English and Vietnam-
esepronunciation areincluded too.
Otherthan dictionaries, theunit also providesOrganizer, Calculator,
Reference, Games, DataCommunication, USAInterview, System
Setting.
With theseabundantand practicalcontents, userscan handledaily
business conveniently. And hence, theirefficiency and effective-
ness can begreatly increased.
1.2Openand ClosetheUnit
To open theunit, hold it flatand press thefrontcenterbutton. Pull the
coverup and adjusttheangle, asyou like. Closeit until you hearasoft
click.
1.3AboutthePower Supply
Theunit ispowered by 2 AAA alkalinebatteries. If it cannotbe
operated, doesnotwork properly oramessage"LowBattery"displays,
pleaseturn off theunit and replace thebatterieswith newones. After
battery replacement, themessage"Pleasewait" will beshown, then
themain menu will bedisplayed automatically.
1.4Initialization
1. Press to resetthesystemwithoutdatacleared. Please

notethatthetimeorothersettingsmay havebeen changed.
2. Press and button, themessage"Initialize System?"
will then appear, press to ignoreinitialization;press to
initialize thesystemwith all userdatabeing cleared.
Stepsto Replace Batteries
1. Turn off theunit.
2. Unlock and then slideoff thebattery door.
3. Replace theold batterieswith newones(makesurethepolaritiesare
correct).
4. Coverand lock thebattery door.
Note:Theunit cannotbeswitched on unless thebatterydooris
closed properly.
Cautions
1. Neverleavedead batteriesin thebattery holder.
2. Alwaysreplace all 2 batteriesatthesametime.
3. Removethebatteriesiftheunit isnotused foralong period oftime.
Using AC Adaptor
1. Turn off theunit beforeunplugging orplugging theACadaptor.
If theunit isnotworking dueto improperoperation, simply
takeoutthebatteriesand replace themagain.

clean theunit. Wipetheunit with softand dry cloth.
-Avoid touching thescreen with sharp-edged orangularobjects.
-Do nottwistorbend theunit.
-Forsafety, importantdatashould bebacked up by othermeans.

1.6AutomaticPower-off
-Theunit will automatically switch off after3 minuteswith no
key activity. Press to switch on theunit again.
-Even iftheunit isswitched off, it will switch on atalarmtime.
-You can setthepower-off period in SystemSetting.
(Pleasenotethatduring inputoredit, if no key ispressed for3 minutes,
theunit will also switch off automaticallywith thedata kept.)

2.1Eng-VietDictionary
You can performsearching by entering theword orperformsearching
sequentially. Thedictionary providesmeaningsofEnglish wordsin
Vietnamese. You can also viewthegrammarinformation like
antonym, synonym, example, verb, etc. and heartheEnglish and
Vietnamesepronunciation. Auto and Repeatfunctionsarealso available
in thissection.
Two methodsofsearching areavailable. They areWisdomSearch
and GeneralSearch. You only need to inputan English word or
phrase, then find outitsmeanings.
Choose"Eng-VietDict" fromDictionary main menu.
2.1.1WisdomSearch
1. Enterthefirstletteroftheword
you wantto search (e.g. "g").
2. Thenearestword will appearon the
screen.
3. Press orto search forthedesired word
sequentially.
4. You may also entertheremaining letters. (e.g. "go")Then the
word will appearatthetop ofthelist.
5. Press to viewitsmeanings.
6. Press to viewthepreceding orfollowing partofthe
samerecord, ifany.
7. Press to viewthemeaningsofthepreviousornextrecord.
8. Press thepronunciation key to heartheEnglish pronunciation
oftheheadword.
9. Press therelativenumerickeysto look forantonym, synonym,
example, verb, etc., if"1","2", "3","4"appearattherightupper
cornerofthefirstrow.

dictionary, "NearestWord"and "Spell

2.1.4 WildCardSearch
When you can only rememberpartofaword oraphrase, you can
use"?"to replace an unknown letter, or"*"to replace several
unknown letters. Relevantwordsorphraseswill bedisplayed
according to alphabeticalorder.

Viet-Eng Dictionary providesmeaningsin English forVietnamese

section.
