1 - INTRODUCTION
Please read carefully the instructi ns with this symb l bef re installing and using the instrument.
1.1 - STANDARDS and REGULATIONS
STAR3 c nf rms t Directive 73/23/CEE (LVD) and 2004/108/CE (EMC).
It has been designed with reference t EN 61010-1, EN 61326 including append. A1/A2/A3, EN 61000-6-2, EN 61000-6-3,
EN 61000-3-2, EN 61000-3-3, EN 61000-3-3/A1, EN 61000-4-2, EN 61000-4-3, EN 61000-4-4, EN 61000-4-5, EN 61000-4-5/A1,
EN 61000-4-6, EN 61000-4-6/A1, EN 61000-4-8, EN 61000-4-8/A1,EN 61000-4-11, EN 61000-4-11/A1.
1.2 - USER SAFETY
In rder t preserve these safety c nditi ns and ensure safe perati n, the user must bserve all instructi ns and marks
specified in this user manual. All maintenance and repair perati ns requiring the pening f the instrument must be carried
ut nly by suitably qualified and auth rised pers nnel. The instrument was shipped fr m the manufacturing plant in perfect
technical safety c nditi ns.
1.3 - PRELIMINARY INSPECTIONS
Bef re installati n, check that the instrument is in g d c nditi ns and was n t damaged during transp rt. Check that the
netw rk v ltage and the rated v ltage c incide. This instrument d es n t require an earth c nnecti n.
1.4 - PRECAUTIONS IN THE EVENTS OF MALFUNCTIONS
When safe perati n is n l nger p ssible, put the instrument ut f service and ensure that it cann t be perated accidentally.
Safe perati n cann t be guaranteed in the f ll wing circumstances:
· When the instrument appears clearly damaged.
· When the instrument n l nger w rks.
· After l ng st rage in unsuitable c nditi ns.
· After being damaged in transit.
2 - CONNECTION OF THE INSTRUMENT
2.1 - POWER SUPPLY
The p wer supply c nnecti ns terminals are l cated n the rear side and are clearly indicated with the label POWER
SUPPLY. Use cables having a maximum secti n f 2.5 mm2. Earth c nnecti n is n t required. F ll w the c nnecti n
diagram at the beginning f the manual.
2.2 - CONNECTING VOLTAGE MEASUREMENT CABLES
These cables, having a maximum secti n f 2.5 mm2, are t be c nnected t the terminals labelled VOLTAGE INPUT as
indicated in the diagrams at the beginning f the manual.
2.3 - CONNECTING CURRENT MEASUREMENT CABLE
The instrument is able t measure up t 5A nly thr ugh external C.T. The cables having maximum secti n f 2.5 mm2
must be c nnected t the terminals labelled CURRENT INPUT as sh wn in the diagrams at beginning f the manual.
Use Use 3 CT's with 5A sec ndary. Use cables having a secti n appr priate t the length f the c nnecti n and the rated
p wer f the CT's used.
N te 1: F r safety reas ns, never leave the CT sec ndary pen.
N te 2: Imp rtant direct c nnecti ns, with ut C.T. will damage the inputs.
3 - PROGRAMMING THE INSTRUMENT
The instrument can be fully pr grammed by means f the SETUP menu. Press at the same time the PAG and the SEL keys
t enter the SETUP . The c mplete descripti n f the setup is available at chapter 5.
4 - MEASUREMENT PAGES
At p wer n, the STAR3 displays the last page selected bef re p wer ff.
Use the PAG key t scr ll thr ugh the different measurement pages and the SEL key t see the details.
The presence f several pages is depending n the c nnecti n m de selected int the setup .
