gDear customer,
Please read these operating instructions
through carefully. Please make sure you
read the safety instructions on the first
pages of these operating instructions! Keep
the operating instructions for future refer-
ence. Pass them on to any future owners.
Safety instructions
 Please note, efore using the kettle for
the first time, that you should only oper-
ate it with the voltage and current
stated in the rating plate (Fig. 1/H).
 The kettle is only to e used under
supervision. Do not place or use it on a
hot surface or near a naked flame.
 Always use and keep the kettle outside
the reach of children.
 Do not use the kettle if the electric lead
is in any way defective. Check it from
time to time to ensure that it is not
damaged. If any damage should e visi-
le, arrange for the lead to e replaced
at once. Never use the kettle if it has
een dropped or if it shows any visi le
signs of damage. Contact one of the
Electrolux Customer service centres or
an authorised dealer for repair. Repairs
to electrical appliances may only e car-
ried out y a qualified electrician. Any
improper repairs or tampering may seri-
ously endanger the user.
 High temperatures are created when
electric kettles such as this one are used,
and these can cause urns if the appli-
ance is handled carelessly. For this rea-
son, you should only ever take hold of
the kettle y the handle provided (Fig. 1/
F).
 Make sure the lead does not dangle,
especially while the kettle is in opera-
tion, as there is a danger of its eeing
tipped over.
 Please always pull the plug out of the
socket efore cleaning it.
 Do not pull the plug out of the socket y
tugging on the lead.
 Never immerse the kettle in water!
 Make sure the lead and plug are dry
efore the kettle is plugged in or
switched on.
 Do not use the kettle when your hands
are wet.
 Do not jerk the kettle around while it is
in operation.
Caution: Overfilling the kettle may lead
to oiling water spraying out of it. For
this reason, never fill it eyond the max.

 Protect the appliance and its ca le from
heat and wet.
 Only ever use the kettle for heating
water! Never heat any foods, drinks, or
food additives in it, and do not use it to
oil milk or soup! Do not oil anything
in the water in the kettle! Electrolux
cannot accept any legal lia ility for the
consequences of improper use or opera-
tion.
 Never use the appliance out of doors.

Please first make yourself familiar with your
appliance (Fig. 1):

All 1.0 litre Electrolux high-speed electric
kettles have the same asic technical fea-
tures:
 Rating: 1010 Watt (230 V)
 Maximum capacity: 1.0 litre
 Minimum fill: 0.25 litre
Connecting the kettle
Place the kettle on an firm surface. Take the
mains plug out of the plug holder. The lead
can e unwound from the appliance ase to
the required length. Plug the appliance into
the mains. After use, the plug can e rein-
serted in the plug holder to save space.
Turn on the appliance y setting the On/Off
switch (Fig. 1/A) to the I position.
Operation
Before using your new kettle for the first
time, for hygienic reasons, you should clean
it inside and out with a damp cloth. Fill the
appliance with water. The minimum
amount is 0.25 litre (the min mark). Fill at
least enough water to cover the heating
coil. The water-level-markings on the inside
will give you additional help. The maximum
fill is 1.0 (the max mark).
Caution: Never fill less than the minimum
or more than the maximum. If this kettle is
overfilled, there is a danger of oiling water
spraying out or running over.
Important: Make sure you close the appli-
ance properly, as the automatic switch-off
device can only work properly if the lid is
properly shut. This is why you should always
close the lid efore switching on (Fig. 2).
A double measure of safety
Automatic switch-off device
Your kettle will switch off automatically
and the switch will jump ack to 0 when
the water oils.
If you wish to interrupt the oiling process
efore the kettle switches off automati-
cally, simply move the On/Off switch (Fig. 1/
A) to 0. If you wish to reheat the water,
just move the switch ack to I and wait
for the water to start oiling again. The
kettle will switch off automatically again.
Protection against boiling dry
All Electrolux kettles and hot-water oilers
are fitted with a device which switches
them off if there is no water inside. This
protects them from the overheating which
would result from switching them on when
empty or from oiling dry with the lid open.
Should your kettle ever accidentally e
switched on with no water inside, it is auto-
matically protected from overheating. The
heating process is automatically inter-
rupted. However, in this case, the On/Off
switch (Fig. 1/A) does not jump ack to the
0 position, for which reason it is necessary
for you to set the switch to the 0 position
and to leave the appliance to cool for a out
5-10 minutes. As a further safety measure,
in the event of the operating temperature
rising too high as a result of improper use,
the temperature cutout will melt through,
and the power supply will e cut off.
Because of this additional safety feature,

your Electrolux kettle has the est possi le
protection against overheating. In this situ-
ation, the appliance should e send to an
Electrolux service centre.
Cleaning and care
 Disconnect the lead from the electricity
supply every time efore cleaning the
kettle.
 This kettle is very easy to look after. The
interior should e occasionally rinsed
out with clear water and descaled at
regular intervals as descri ed elow. The
outside should simply e wiped with a
damp cloth and dried thoroughly. Do not
use any aggressive or a rasive cleaning
products.
 Never use a damp cloth on the lead or
plug. Make sure every time efore using
the kettle that the lead and plug are dry.
Descaling
If your tap water is relatively hard, you
will need to descale the kettle at regular in-
tervals. For this purpose, use a good propri-
etary rand of liquid descaling agent and
follow the instructions on the pack.
When descaling, please follow these in-
structions:
 First fill the kettle with water and than
add the descaling agent.
 Do not give your kettle an overdose of
descaling agent!
 Take care  when the water comes to the
oil, the mixture may froth up!
 After descaling, rinse the kettle out
twice with clear water.
For the sake of the environment
Do not simply throw the packaging away,
ut follow these instructions:
 Card oard packaging material can e
handed in as salvage at your local
wastepaper collection point.
 If the following packaging materials
have een used:
 Plastic ags made of polyethylene (PE)
can e handed in your local PE collec-
tion point.
 Padding made of expanded polystyrene
(PS) is CFC-free and can e handed in to
your local collection point (recycling
depot).
Please ask your local authority for the
address of your nearest recycling depot.
