The label, settings, and system cabling information in this document are for your reference. Paste the
Control Station label in this provided space, see page 7.

Before you begin

Welcome
The system you are about to install comes factory pre-loaded with Celerra®Network Server software
(DART) and CLARiiON®storage array software (FLARE®).
Software upgrade
If you bought a software maintenance contract, you are entitled to a software upgrade that is
performed only after the installation, Celerra Startup Assistant (CSA), and registration have
successfully completed.
Site preparation
Complete the site preparation by verifying the following activities before installation:
Network connections•
Power requirements•
Rack space requirements•
Default IP addresses
The system components communicate with each other using a private Internet Protocol (IP) network.
By default, this network uses the IP addresses listed in the following table.
If your existing IP network uses addresses on these subnets, you are required to change the private
network addresses of your Celerra Network Server to different subnets before the installation.

Installation steps:
Review and complete the Celerra worksheets (see pages 19 and 20), and verify that the site is1.
properly prepared for the installation of your Celerra NS20FC. About 20 minutes.
If your Celerra NS20FC is to be installed in a customer-supplied rack, use this document to2.
unpack the system from the disposable mini-rack shipping container, and install the system in your
available rack. About 40 minutes.
Note: If your Celerra NS20FC system arrives at your site in a pre-installed cabinet and is previ
ously cabled, verify the cabling before you begin the use of your system.
Cable your system according to the instructions and illustrations contained in this document.
Ensure that all of your cables are seated securely. About 45 minutes.
When you install your Celerra NS20FC, use the Celerra Startup Assistant (CSA) to configure your3.
system. The CSAis on the Celerra Applications & Tools CD. The CSA will help create CIFS shares,
NFS exports, or iSCSI LUNs and to register your Celerra system. About 15 minutes.
Register your system with the service provider. If you do not register your system now, using the4.
Celerra Startup Assistant, your request for support from EMC®Customer Service will be delayed.
About 5 minutes.
Implementation step:
5. After you have registered your Celerra NS20FC system, you must configure the system for
production. There are several documented implementation procedures based on common
usages. You can configure your system manually using Celerra Manager, or follow the common
implementations listed below.
Common implementations:
Create CIFS shares• Create iSCSI LUNs• Create NFS exports• Configure MPFS-enabled systems• Add additional host for Fibre Channel enabled systems• Perform Common Post-CSA tasks•
At the end of each implementation, your system will be usable and ready for production.
Note: Configure your system using these procedures to create basic implementations.
To configure additional implementations, follow the Celerra user documentation on Powerlink®.
Your Celerra NS20FC system has the Fibre Channel option enabled; use Navisphere Manager®
to configure your storage disks.

Unpacking the Celerra NS20FC system
If your Celerra NS20FC system was purchased and shipped in an EMC 40 Unit cabinet, (70 in. tall,
where1 unit =1.75 in.), start on page 11 of this document and confirm that the cables are
installed correctly and securely; otherwise start unpacking your Celerra NS20FC system from the
disposable mini-rack shipping container.

Caution: Two people are required to remove the components. Only remove screws
holding the components in place at this time. Do not remove the screws holding
the rails in place; this may cause damage to the components. Only remove one
component at a time.

Remove rails and install into the site rack

rails in place. Keep the screws
to install the rails in your rack.
The mini-rack is part of the
shipping container and is not to be
removed.
2. Insert the rail slide and seat
the rail extensions into the rear
channel of your rack.
3. Do not fully tighten the two initial
screws that join the rails to the rack.

the installation of the components.

Use the two cables with HSSDC-to-HSSDC2 connectors to perform the following:
1. In LCC A, PRI, orient the thumb clip-latch down and insert the plug until you hear a click.
2. In LCC B, PRI, orient the thumb clip-latch up and insert the plug until you hear a click.

Note: The CSA pre-populates values based on auto-discovery. Shaded values are values that will be auto-discovered
based on your system and network environment; if auto-discovery fails, you need to provide the information manually.
Verify that the site is properly prepared for your Celerra System. Complete the worksheets and
use the information to verify the values when you run the Celerra Startup Assistant (CSA).

Note: Public IP addresses for your storage processors are required to use the Navisphere Service Taskbar on both
Fibre Channel (FC) and non-FC enabled models for routine array maintenance. Additionally, all FC enabled models
require the use of Navisphere Manager to configure and manage the storage on the array for both Celerra and non-
Celerra Hosts. The IP addresses must be on the same subnet as the Control Station.
Note: The dial-in modem number is the phone number for the line that connects to the modem. This is the local
number that is used by the service provider to dial into your system.
