Install the Batteries
Open the battery compartment on the back of the unit by
turning the cover counter-clockwise. Insert the LIR2032
battery included with the anemometer. Make sure the
polarity is correct (the “+” side should face up).
And remember to put the cover back
on by turning the cover
clockwise.
Open the Package
When you open the package, you
should nd your manual, your
anemometer, its carrying case and
lanyard, and an LIR2032 battery.

Turning the Anemometer On and Off
Press the Power Button briey to turn the
anemometer on. Press the Power Button
for more than 1 second to turn it
o again.
Backlight
You can also turn the backlight on if you need it. Press the Set Button for more than
2 seconds to turn the backlight on or o.
Cycling Through Measurement Parameters
Press the Set button briey to change the displayed parameter.
The instrument will cycle through the parameters in the following order:
Wind Speed » Wind Chill » Temperature » Relative Humidity » Heat Index »
Dew Point » Barometric Pressure » Pressure Altitude.

Changing the
Measurement
Units
In any measurement parameter mode
briey press the Units Button to change the
measurement unit displayed. For example,
in wind speed mode choose between mph,
m/s, ft/min, knots, and km/h.

Hold Function
To freeze the current reading, press the Units Button for more than 2 seconds.
Press it again for more than 2 seconds to exit this mode. This is handy for measuring
air ow in dicult situations.
Max/Min/Avg Value Measurement Function
This function allows you to track the maximum, minimum and average of your
readings for any parameter each time you power on the unit.
In any measurement parameter mode briey press the Power button to display
the Maximum Reading. A second press will display the Minimum, a third press will
display the Average and a fourth press will return the meter to the real-time current
readings.
For average readings, keep in mind that periods of zero wind speed may skew your
average. In this case you may want to restart the unit to reset the Max/Min/Avg data.
Max : In this mode the meter will display the maximum value registered since it
was powered on.
Min : When in this mode the meter will display the minimum value registered.
AVG : When in this mode the meter will display the average of all values since it
was powered on.
NOTE: The Max, Min and Avg values will be
reset when the meter is turned o.

TROUBLESHOOTING
My battery is empty. Can I replace it with the more common CR2032?
No. The battery needed for the eA980R is a LIR2032 LITHIUM BATTERY
(included). Replace it with a new LIR2032 or recharge it with a suitable
charger. Do NOT use CR2032 batteries, their voltage is not high enough to
operate the anemometer properly.
Cannot Measure the Temperature Properly?
Temperature response depends upon air ow through the unit due to the
location of the temperature sensor inside the unit. Response may be slow at
zero air ow (5 to 10 minutes), but typically only takes 60-90 seconds in steady
air ow.
Measurement is way off when measuring Average Wind Speed?
For average readings, keep in mind that periods of zero wind speed may skew
your average. In this case you may want to restart the unit to reset the Max/
Min/Avg data.
