Magnets are used to tune your Idiopan steel tongue drum. Magnets are not
toys. ey are very strong and must be handled with great care. Do not let the
magnets slam into each other or your Idiopan steel tongue drum. Do not place
magnets near electronics, such as cell phones. Read the warning on the reverse
side before you buy and use the magnets.
e Lunabell comes tuned to A Major pentatonic E4, A4, B4, C#5, E5, F#5, A5,
B5 (see the illustration below). e highest pitches on the Lunabell are F4, A4,
C5, D5, E5, G#5, A5, C6 and can be tuned down to E4, G4, A#4, C5, D#5, E5,
G5, A#5 with the included standard magnet pack.
e Lunabell advanced magnet pack allows you to tune the Lunabella down
to hundreds of additional scales. e lowest pitches achievable are B3, D4, E4,
G#4, B4, C#5, D5, F5 (see the chart on right). e pack includes 11 magnets: 4
medium (green), 3 large (blue), 1 standard (yellow), 2 small (red) and 1 extra-
large (black). e Lunabell comes standard with 3 small (red), 2 standard
(yellow) and 3 medium (green) magnets.
Tune with a simple push or pull of the magnets up or down the tongues. For
best results, keep the magnets in the center of the tongues when tuning. Add
magnets, or use larger magnets, to lower the pitch. When stacking the magnets,
always have the smallest magnets on top. It may be helpful to remove magnets
from the drum before stacking.

Stacked Stacked Stacked Stacked Stacked Stacked Stacked
e two at sides of each magnet represent the North and South polarities
(N/S); meaning each magnet has an arbitrary top and a bottom (A.). When
stacking magnets on the tongues for tuning, the magnets stay in place better if
they are all place with the same side (bottom) against the tongue. erefore,
it may be helpful to remove all the magnets from the drum and pre-stack
them before attaching to the tongues (B.). Create a stack of magnets for each
tongue according to the chart above. Set the stacks on a metal surface in a
circle with the same layout as the tongues (1, 2, 3...). en make sure none
of the stacks attract each other; do this slowly and carefully so the stacks do
not collide sharply together. If there is any attraction between stacks, ip the
stack up-side down and try again. Once all the stacks are properly orientated,
transfer them to the appropriate tongue.

Bella can be tuned to with the advanced magnet pack: http://www.dolmetsch.
