1.1 What is it for?
The Polar Max Tension is an electric retractable projection screen that utilizes our awar
winning, ISF-Certifie Polar Star™ ambient light rejecting material. A full IR an RF remote
control kit is inclu e along with a 12volt projector trigger. The retractable esign provi es a
big screen performance without e icating wall space to exclusively one purpose, enabling
the viewer to enjoy greater versatility with a isappearing screen when not in use.
1.2 How does it work?
The Polar Max Tension inclu es a tab-tensioning system that provi es a flat, taut surface. The
Polar Star material is a reference quality front projection material precisely formulate for
environments with minimal control over room lighting. It was esigne to enhance picture
brightness, offer accurate color fi elity, an improve contrast levels. The Polar Star is best for
family rooms, e ucational facilities, conference rooms or any applications in which inci ent
light is a factor.

Caution: The screen’s Black Top Drop is alrea y set to its maximum rop istance. There is NO extra Black Top Drop in
the roller. Please be aware of this as it will voi your warranty with Elite Screens. Unapprove changes or
mo ifications (except for cutting the power cor for har wire installations) to this unit are prohibite an will voi
your warranty. For more information, please contact our Technical Support Dept. at [phone] Ext. 604.

• To avoi amaging the unit, o not use with any unauthorize accessories not recommen e by the
manufacturer.

• The power outlet supplying power to the unit shoul be close to the unit an easily accessible.
• Do not install the unit on uneven or incline surfaces.

Due to various installation environments, the instructions provided in this user’s guide are for
reference only. Please consult a professional installation company for further installation and
safety advice. The installer must insure that proper mounting hardware is used to provide
adequate strength suitable for the installation. Elite creens is not liable for any faulty
installations.

4.5 Notice to Installer
Please use the following installation instructions to obtain optical performance from the Polar
tar Angular Reflective ALR (Ambient Light Rejecting) creen Material.
1) Angular-reflective material is not compatible with ultra/short-throw projectors
2) Ambient Light must not come from the same irection as the projector’s light
3) Minimum Lens Throw Ratio of 1.5x image wi th
Since angular-reflective means t at your projected image will reflect at t e mirror-opposite angle, it is
important to position t e projector so t at t e viewer will get t e best performance.

1. Determine where the screen will be installed. Then, measure and mark the distance between the top and bottom
screw holes from each bracket.
2. Drill a hole on all marked areas and install the brackets on the wall with the screws. Lift the screen up leveled with
the brackets, slide the screen in the bracket grooves and push until you hear a “click” sound.
3. Secure the screen.
4. To remove the screen, hold the screen screen’s case and press both bracket plates at the same time, then lift the
screen.
B. Ceiling Mount
I. Flush ceiling mount
1. Determine where the screen will be installed. Then, measure and mark the distance between the screw holes from
each bracket.
2. Drill a hole on all marked areas and install the brackets on the wall with the screws. Lift the screen up leveled with
the brackets, slide the screen in the bracket grooves and push until you hear a “click” sound.
3. Secure the screen.
4. To remove the screen, hold the screen screen’s case and press both bracket plates at the same time, then lift the
screen
II. Suspended
1. Measure and mark the distance between the expansion anchor hooks and drill a hole and install them to the ceiling.
2. Attach the ring to the bracket and secure it with the M6 nut.
3. Hang the screen from the anchor hook or attach the spring snap link to the ring and anchor hook.
4. For high ceiling installation, a chain or steel wire can be used (not included)

4.8 Operation
Electric current: The screen may operate on 100V/110V/220V depending on region.
Caution: The screen’s motor is equipped with a thermal heat protector which will cause the motor
to stop running and prevent overheating if it is in continuous use for more than four minutes.
When this occurs, please allow the motor to cool down and use again after 15 minutes.
1. Plug the screen’s power cord to a power outlet.
2. Once the screen has power you’ll be able to control it with the IR or RF remote.
4.9 Control ystem
The Polar Max Tension Series has Infrared and Radio Frequency receivers. You can control the
screen’s UP/STOP/DOWN positions utilizing either the IR (Infrared) or RF (Radio Frequency)
remotes.
1. IR remote control: The IR remote control requires line of sight to the IR sensor. Make sure to
point the IR remote directly to the extended IR sensor(see step 3 for installation).
Note: a. The IR remote has a range of 15 feet.
b. The IR sensor must not be covered or blocked.
2. RF remote control: The RF remote does not require line of sight and can be used up to 50ft.

4. -12 volt trigger: Connect the mini jack plug end to the 5 12 volt trigger port (see image above)
and the other end to your projector’s output port to synchronize the projector’s power cycle to your
screen. Connection to the projector’s trigger port is not included. Refer to the diagram below for
wiring instructions. Contact your projector’s manufacturer for proper 5 12 volt trigger cable
information.
The screen should automatically DROP when the
projector is turned ON and RETRACT when
the projector is turned OFF.
You can test the operation using a 9 volt battery.
