Rev. 10.06.15 MANUAL MOUNTING SYSTEM FOR PITCHED ROOF WITH BITUMEN

3. Product Description
The ClickFit mounting system consists of mounting brackets, mounting rails and the necessary installation materials to
mount the solar panels in portrait or landscape setup on the roof. The ClickFit mounting system for bitumen / EPDM can be
used for all types of bitumen / EPDM.
Mounting system
The mounting brackets are secured to the bitumen roof using chipboard screws. Because the mounting brackets are
attached to the roof boarding, one can determine freely the location of the solar panels on the roof. Differences in height in
the roof can easily be lled by means of a special increment block (optional). In order to prevent leakage, at the bottom of
the mounting brackets a layer of Tixophalte kit is applied. In an EPDM roof at the bottom of the mounting brackets it is an
option to use as a water stop a self-adhesive sealing tape EPDM instead of the Tixophalte kit layer.
Attachment of the mounting rail
The mounting rail is attached to the mounting brackets by means of a snap connection. For this purpose, no further
materials or tools are needed.
Attachment of the panels
The handy assembly aid contributes to the quick and safe installation and also serves as sliding protection for the solar
panels. The solar panels are attached by means of universal module clamping plates, end clamps and mounting screws.
The mounting screws are screwed directly to the mounting rail in which is a special thread installed.

5.2 Determining position of solar panels and measuring
In the determination of the position of the solar panels on the bitumen roof, it is very important to pay attention to the sunlight
coming in throughout the day and throughout the year. Place the panels on a roof surface which has no shadow. Shadow
of a chimney, dormer, trees and nearby buildings have an adverse effect on the amount of energy generated by the solar
panels.
Measuring and marking
For the placing of the solar panel, you need approximately an area of 160x80 cm or 160x100 cm or 200x100 cm per panel
(depending on the type of solar panel).
Make sure that on the roof around the solar panels 30 cm is kept free. In other words,
30 cm from the ridge and the gutter and 30 cm from the sides in connection with wind load.
Mark the contours of the panel eld on the bitumen roof eld with chalk or a marker. Mark the lines where the mounting rails
are coming (on 1 / 4th of the top panel and bottom panel). Mark then where the mounting brackets must be placed ie on the
ends of the mounting rail up to 30 cm apart and furthermore up to 120 cm
apart (See calculator for distance).

6. Installation
6.1 Preinstall suspension on solar panels (only with portrait)
Install per solar panel 2 suspension sockets at the rear of the solar panel (= same side as the connection box). First insert
the RVS hex bolts M6x20 in the available holes in the frame and afx thereon the suspension sockets. Then install the M6
nuts.
6.2 Preinstall connecting strips
You can attach the mounting rails to each other with the supplied connection strips.
Slide the connection strip in the side of the mounting rail and x this using the supplied mounting screws 6,5x19.
The tightening torque of the screw connections is 4,5Nm.
When the total length of the coupled mounting rails is longer than 20m, a dilation of a number of mm is advisable.
07
Rev. 10.06.15 MANUAL MOUNTING SYSTEM FOR PITCHED ROOF WITH BITUMEN

6.3 Attaching mounting brackets
On the basis of the position of the solar panels on the roof, you determine the position of the mounting brackets.
With solar panels in portrait setup the mounting brackets are xed on 1/4 H of the top panel and panel-bottom edge, at
a mutual distance 2/4 H. Divide the mounting brackets proportionally in the assembly line where the rails will be. The
mounting brackets may be positioned up to 120 cm apart (see calculator for distance). Place on the ends an additional
mounting bracket at a mutual distance of about 30 cm.
1. Mark with chalk or marker on the roof in a straight line the place where the mounting brackets should come.
2. Apply with a kit gun, the Tixophalte kit on the underside of the mounting brackets in a closed circle in order to prevent the
screw hole from leaking. (See processing instructions Tixophalte kit)
2A. Optionally, you can also use self-adhesive EPDM sealing tape instead of the Tixophalte kit for example with EPDM
roofs (see annex on page 14)
3. Ensure that the 2 screw holes of the mounting bracket are completely enclosed.
4. Place the mounting brackets along the marked line on the roof. Always place the mounting brackets parallel to each
other. Make sure that the mounting brackets are never placed on the transition seam of the roof sheets, but place them at
least 5 cm from this seam. Screw the mounting bracket to the eaves with the chipboard screw 5,0x40mm.
For this step only screw the top screw. This allows the mounting bracket to still move something, which makes clicking the
mounting rail easier. Use a cordless screwdriver with bit PZ2 until the bracket is tightened and the kit visibly ows out under
the bracket.
5. Make sure that the mounting brackets are mutually aligned.
Be aware: Differences in height in the roof can easily be lled by means of a special increment
block (optional).
With solar panels in landscape setup you go through the same steps above, the only mounting brackets are rotated
90 degrees and the mounting rails are placed vertically and secured on top. (see annex on page 14)

6.4 Attaching mounting rail
1. Position the mounting rail on the mounting brackets. Make sure the mounting bracket are completely perpendicular to the
mounting rail. It is still possible to turn the mounting bracket something because it is only screwed with the top screw.
2. Make sure the tip of the mounting rail protrudes app. 5 cm against to the last mounting bracket.
3. Then click the mounting rail piece by piece to the mounting brackets. Make sure it clicks properly! The mounting brackets
can be sprayed with silicone spray in order to facilitate the clicking.
4. Make sure that the mounting rails are mutually aligned.
5. Screw the lower chipboard screw 5,0x40mm into the mounting brackets.
6. Check that all chipboard screws are tightly screwed.
Make sure the mounting rails are right above each other in connection with the alignment of the
solar panels!
