This manual is designed t be used as a quick start guide al ngside the inf rmative general user
interface (GUI) f the DVR. Additi nal details f the subjects c vered may be f und within the
n-screen menus r in the full manual that can be f und n the supplied s ftware disc. The menu
ab ve is n t exhaustive and is designed t lead the user quickly t the m st ften required aspects
f the unit.
The DVR will require a connection to a monitor to be programmed.

DVR Connection Diagram
Notes on Camera Connection:
The DVR is specifically designed f r High Definiti n 720p cameras (using AHD techn l gy).
The DVR can als supp rt c nnecti n t l wer res luti n anal gue cameras.
The camera input channels n the DVR are gr uped int pairs f r the c nnecti n f either HD
cameras r Anal gue cameras. Channels 1 & 2 can have either 2 HD cameras r 2 Anal gue
cameras c nnected but n t 1 f each, the same applies t channel pairs 3 & 4, 5 & 6 and
7 & 8.

Basic operations
CONNECTION TO A MONITOR
The DVR has a HDMI and VGA utput t c nnect t a m nit r. Please select the appr priate
c nnecti n and select the c rrect input channel n the m nit r.
POWER ON
Plug ne lead fr m the 5-way p wer supply int the 12VDC p wer supply input marked n the DVR.
Turn n the DVR at the mains p wer p int. Select the ON p siti n n the switch n the rear f the
DVR. The P wer supply indicat r light will illuminate n the DVR’s fr nt panel f ll wed by several
sh rt bleeps.
POWER OFF
Turn ff the DVR at the mains p wer s urce after selecting p wer ff fr m the Shortcut Menu.
Select OFF n the p wer switch n the rear f the DVR. Switch the mains supply t OFF.
N.B Auto resume after power failure. If the DVR is shut down abnormally, the DVR can
automatically backup video and resume previous working status after the power is restored.
MOUSE CONTROLLER CONNECTION
In rder t prevent un-auth rised tampering, the maj rity f DVR functi ns are c ntr lled via the
m use c ntr ller.
Please plug in the supplied m use via the USB interface n the fr nt r rear panel when perating
the DVR.
LIVE VIEWING
On start up the DVR will display a divided screen. Using the M use C ntr l, d uble click n any image
t bring t full screen. D uble click again t return t that main divided screen.
The system time and date will be visible, this can be adjusted by entering the
Main Menu > System > General
The rec rding status and alarm status are indicated by the f ll wing ic ns:

TO ACCESS THE MENU
Right click the m use anywhere n screen t activate
the Shortcut Me u.
Selecting Mai Me u pti n will aut matically display
the System Logi screen.
The default settings are:
User Name: Admin
Password: ‘leave blank’

entered three times the DVR alarm will activate. If a wr ng passw rd is entered five times the
system will l ck ut. T reset the system turn the main p wer ff and back n after 5 minutes.
SHORTCUT MENU
Right-clicking n the live camera screen will activate the Sh rtcut Menu where the m st regularly
used settings can be f und.

OPTION 1- Manual Rec rd (Cameras Rec rding C ntinu usly)
Fr m the live camera view screen:
• Right-click n the screen t bring-up the Shortcut Me u and l g-in.
• Select Record Mode and highlight the ALL pti n f r Ma ual
• Click OK t finish set-up
ADDITIONAL MANUAL RECORD CONFIGURATION OPTIONS
Select Main Menu > Rec rd > Rec rd C nfig. t access the ‘Rec rd Plan’.
• Channel – Select 1–4/8 (all ther settings n w affect the specific channel selected)
• Redundancy – Select if d uble backup rec rding is required when tw hard drives are fitted (n t as
standard)
• Length – Sets the file length f each vide file t be rec rded nt the hard drive (functi n d es n t
apply t m ti n detecti n length)
• Pre-Rec rd – The system can aut matically archive up t 30 sec nds f rec rding pri r t a m ti n
r alarm trigger
• M de – Selects the rec rding preference either by schedule r t st p and start rec rding manually
NB. Whe e teri g the ‘Record Pla ’ the default scree will always start with a display of the
setti gs for Cha el 1 a d the curre t day’s schedule.

Fr m the live camera view:
Right-click n the screen t bring-up the Shortcut Me u and l g-in t the Mai Me u.
• Select Mai Me u > Record > Record Co fig.
• Select Cha el as ALL
• Select Mode as Schedule
• Select Week as ALL
• Select Period 1 as Detect
• Click OK
• Fr m the Mai Me u select Alarm > Motio Detect
• Select Cha el as ALL
• Select E able
• Select Record Cha el 1, 2, 3, 4/8
• Click OK t finish set-up
ADDITIONAL SCHEDULE RECORDING OPTIONS
Select Main Menu > Rec rd > Rec rd C nfig.
• Week – Y u n w have the ability t specify the rec rding requirements by each day (select all if ALL
days require the same c nfigurati n)
• Peri d 1-4 – Each day can be segmented int 4 specific rec rding peri ds
• Regular – Simply rec rds c nstantly within the selected peri d
• Detect – Only rec rds by m ti n detecti n via the camera(s) within the pr grammed peri d
• Alarm – Only rec rds by alarm trigger within the selected peri d (selected m dels nly)
RECORDING PLAYBACK
Right click n the live camera view, l gin and enter Playback directly fr m the Shortcut Me u.
QUICK GUIDE
In the playback menu refer t the right hand side f the screen and enter the f ll wing;
• Select M nth and Year f the required rec rding
• Click n the day f M nth
• Select Channel required
• Click n the symb l with the tw inwards p inting arr ws
• Select Start time (T p right-hand c rner f the screen)
• Select End time (T p right-hand c rner f the screen)
• Click the magnifying glass symb l
• D uble click n the rec rding required
• Playback will begin
During playback simply use the ic ns at the f t f the screen t c ntr l playback.

DIGITAL ZOOM
During playback it is p ssible t carry ut a digital z m. Left click and h ld anywhere in the picture
then m ve the m use in any directi n t create a selecti n wind w. Once y u are happy with the
selecti n wind w release the left click and then left click again within the created wind w t z m in.
T return t the riginal screen simply d uble click.
NB. Practice playi g back footage to familiarize yourself with the process before a i cide t occurs.
As default the record resolutio is set to 720p. For best performa ce i this resolutio it is
recomme ded that o ly o e cha el at a time is selected for playback.
TRANSFERRING A RECORDING TO USB
Rec rded data can be easily transferred using a USB stick drive.
The am unt f data that can be st red is nly limited by the capacity f the USB drive. Larger
capacity drives are available.
QUICK GUIDE
During playback refer t the right hand side f the screen;
After finding the required rec rding (by f ll wing the RECORDING PLAYBACK instructi ns):
• Insert the USB stick int the back f the DVR
• Select the file t be backed up nt the USB stick by clicking inside the white b x f r the required time
• At the b tt m right hand side f the page Click n the disc symb l
• The Backup wind w will appear, select Detect and then Backup
• Selecting Backup readies the selected file
• Select Backup Format as AVI
• Select Start
• A pr gress bar will then display when backup is c mplete
NB. Practice backi g-up footage to familiarize yourself with the process before a i cide t occurs.
The AVI file will e able playback via a PC usi g AVI players such as Wi dows Media Player a d DIV-X.
ADDITIONAL BACKUP MENU OPTIONS
Insert USB stick > Select Main Menu > Rec rd > Backup > Backup
• Type – Select all rec rded material r rec rdings made fr m specific triggers such as alarm r
m ti n detecti n events.
• Channel – Select the channels that y u wish t back up.
• Start Time – Select the start date and time f the desired back up.
• End Time – Select the end date and time f the desired back up.
• Rem ve – Clear the file inf rmati n.
• Add – Sh w the file inf rmati n satisfying the set file attributes.
• Start – Click the play butt n t start the backup and click the pause butt n t st p the backup.
• Cancel – During backup y u can exit the page lay ut t carry ut ther functi ns.
• Backup F rmat – Rec mmend: AVI

Remote Viewing
NETWORK INTRODUCTION- IMPORTANT
Netw rking sh uld always be carried ut by a c mpetent/qualified engineer, specifically when
adjusting settings n the r uter which is required f r rem te viewing.
When unsure please c ntact y ur ISP (Internet Service Pr vider) f r m re inf rmati n.
There are tw main ways t c nnect the DVR t a netw rk;
• A c nnecti n fr m the DVR’s LAN p rt via an Ethernet cable t the r uter (rec mmended f r the
m st stable c nnecti n).
• A c nnecti n using the pti nal DVRWLA* (wireless adapt r d ngle), which enables the DVR t
btain a c nnecti n t the LAN via Wi-Fi.
*DVRWLA is supplied and can be purchased as a separate item
T then add the DVR nt the netw rk (f r rem te viewing), please refer t and c mplete the How to
Remote Access your DVR guide that c mes supplied with the DVR.
Once the DVR has been added t the netw rk there are different meth ds t view the DVR rem tely:
Smart-pho e: iPh ne / Andr id App. Refer t the How to Remote Access your DVR guide f r the
rec mmended App r scan the QR c de during DVR start up
Desktop Browsi g: CMS (Central Management S ftware) that is supplied n the CD supplied with the
DVR (Wind ws c mpatible)
Web Browsi g: Internet Expl rer (Wind ws / Internet Expl rer)
Cloud Service: (Wind ws / Internet Expl rer / App)
T rem te view the DVR using the rec mmended App, CMS, Internet Expl rer r the Cl ud please
refer t the How to Remote Access your DVR guide.
NB: ESP are unable t guarantee that y ur PC / m bile device will be c mpatible with the DVR and
s ftware supplied. Y ur specific m del f ph ne, tablet r ther device, the hardware it c ntains,
y ur service pr vider, the types f data services they ffer and y ur specific ph ne / device plan
will all affect the perf rmance f y ur PC / m bile device f r rem te access t the DVR.
Troubleshooting Guide
In the event f tr uble with the system please f ll w the tr ublesh ting guide. If further pr blems
persist please c ntact the installer / supplier.
