by Etekcity. This device offers rapid reading and simple
operation for measuring both eardrum and forehead
temperature. This multifunctionality offers a safer and
simpler solution in temperature analysis for subjects
ranging from the age of infancy to seniors. It eliminates
the potential dangers of glass thermometers and
mercury with highly accurate infrared scanning
measurement. Know body temperatures in an instant
and recall from a history of up to 20 past measurement
results. The Dual Mode Thermometer also includes a
fever alert when results are high, so you can act fast
for a quicker recovery. A simpler life starts here.
IMPORTANT: Please read, understand, and comply
with all the instructions provided in this manual
before using the device. Failure to comply with the
instructions given in this manual and/or using the
device in ways other than the ones mentioned in this
manual may result in serious injury and/or damage to
the product.
NOTE: The thermometer has a precision of ±0.2°C
(±0.4°F). Should you ever receive a high fever alert
from the thermometer, it is recommended to consult
your primary physician before taking any further
action.

Operation
Forehead Temperature Analysis
1. Before measuring forehead temperature, make sure
there is no water, sweat, or direct sunlight on the
forehead.
2. Press and hold ‘F1’ while slowly scanning the entire
forehead from one temple to the other. Make sure to
keep the thermometer in contact with the forehead
at all times while moving from one side of the
forehead to another.
3. Release the ‘F1’ button. The temperature results will
appear on the LCD display. A second measurement
may be taken once the LCD backlight turns off.
NOTE: Keeping the infrared scanner at one point may
affect the accuracy of temperature results. Make sure
to move the thermometer across and in contact with
the forehead for better temperature result accuracy.
Eardrum Temperature Analysis
1. Remove the sensor plastic cover.
2. Before measuring eardrum temperature, clean out
the ear canal.
3. Gently insert the sensor tip fully into the ear canal.
4. Press ‘F2’ while holding the sensor in the ear canal.
The thermometer will chime and the temperature
results will appear on the LCD display.

EN
10
Note: Make sure to dry the ear canal and keep the
sensor contact with ear canal for better temperature
result accuracy.
Fever Alert: When measuring temperature in either
of the two modes, the thermometer will sound 7 short
ticks and the LCD display will flicker if the reading
results exceed 37.5°C / 99.5°F to indicate that the
subject may have a fever.
Auto-Off: If left idle for 10 seconds, the thermometer
will shut off automatically to conserve battery lifetime.
Memory Recall
1. When the thermometer is on standby, press and hold
the ‘F2’ button for 4 to 8 seconds. The LCD screen
will display ‘- - - M’ with the ‘M’ letter blinking.
2. Press ‘F2’ once more and the LCD screen will display
data with a corresponding icon indicating what
mode the results are under.
Unit Conversion
While the device is off, press and hold ‘F2’ for 8 to 12
seconds. The current unit of measurement will appear.
Press ‘F2’ once more to change and select the desired unit.
NOTE: While holding the ‘F2’ button, the memory
interface will first appeal. Keep holding the button until
the unit changing interface appears.

ENEN
11
Cleaning and Maintenance
Inaccurate results may occur if the thermometer is
not regularly cleaned. The thermometer sensor is
extremely sensitive to dirt and oil, so make sure to
check that it is clean before each use. If cleaning is
necessary, gently clean with medical alcohol and a
cotton swab or Q-tip until the sensor is no longer dull
or lackluster.

NOTE: Normal human body temperatures vary depending
on the body location. When taking temperature from
different parts of your body, it is normal to obtain a
slight variation in the temperature readings. An ear
(tympanic) temperature is usually 0.5-1°F (0.3-0.6°C)
higher than an oral temperature, whereas a forehead
(temporal) temperature is usually 0.5-1°F (0.3-0.6°C)
lower than an oral temperature. Therefore, it is
NORMAL to get 1-2°F (0.6-1.2°C) difference between
an ear measurement versus a forehead measurement.
This is NOT due to the inaccuracy of the thermometer.
Security Type
:This signal indicates that thermometer is a BF
type device with internal power supply.
