>Youareadvisedat everystage of your installationtodouble-check anyelectrical connectionsyou
havemade.After you havecompletedyour installationthereareelectrical teststhat shouldbe
carried out: thesetestsarespecified intheWiring Regulations( BS7671 ) referred tointhe
Building Regulations. If indoubt, consult aqualified electrician.
Installation:
1) Your newtimelag switchcanbeinstalledasadirect replacement for anormal one waywall
switch.
2) Theswitchbodywill fit ontoastandardwall boxusingthescrewssupplied.
3) Lever themountingscrewsout fromthe rear of thecaseusing asmall screwdriver
4) Connect the switchtothelivesupplywireat the “LIVE IN” terminal.
5) Connect the livewirefromyour light fittingor other appliancetothe“LIVEOUT” terminal.
6) Do not connect anyneutralwires.
7) Do not connect anyearthwires.
8) Do not connect anyring livewires.
9) Adjust the timedelaycontrol tominimum(12sec) for testing.
10)Fit the switchtothewall boxorpattress boxandsecureusing the screwssupplied.
11)Restorethe powerandtest the switch.
12)If anyadjustmentstothe timedelayarerequired, switchof theelectricityat the mains before
removing theswitchtoaccess the control.
Electronic
switch
Operation
1) Normal—off state: the redlight glowsinside theswitchbut the power supplytothelight fitting or
applianceisinterrupted.
2) Onstate: theredlight insidetheswitchisoff andpower issuppliedtothelight fitting or appliance.
Oncethebuttonhasbeen pressed, the power will besuppliedtotheappliancefor thetimeperiodset
on theinternal control ( 12secondsto12minutesapproximately). Thepower will beinterruptedat
the end of the timecycleregardless of any additionalpressesof thebutton. Oncethe timecyclehas
elapsed andthepower interrupted, the button can be pressedagainandthecyclebegun again.
3) NOTE:- The timelagswitchwill switchloadsof anytype up toamaximumof 6A. Inanormal
incandescent lighting or other resistiveload, thisisapproximately1400Watts. You will need torefer
tomanufacturersliteraturetodetermine thestart-up current of inductiveloadstodeterminethe
suitabilityof thisswitchtoyour application. If using thisswitchtocontrol fluorescentlighting, the light
fittingsmust haveahigh power factor, if the power factor islow, apower factor correction capacitor
will need tobe added—consult an electrician or electrical wholesaler for availability..
4) Thisswitchusesatransistor andnot arelay, thisenablesfaster switchingand preventscontact
burnout toyieldalongerandmorereliableoperating life.
