2. IR Med User Manual
Welcome to the IR Med non-contact infrared thermometer. This
instrument has been designed for quick response, non-contact
human temperature measurement.
The infrared sensor is located at the top of the instrument and is
used for skin surface temperature measurement.
We have provided a quick reference guide to help you understand
dierent temperature indicaons:
>35.7 – 37.4 Acceptable
>37.4 – 38.5 Elevated
>38.5 – 42.2 Possible high fever
Important informaon
It is important to note that in most cases, temperature readings alone
cannot constute a medical diagnosis. The temperature displayed by
this instrument serve as an indicaon only.
If in any doubt ALWAYS seek medical aenon.

To open the baery compartment, remove the non-capve screw
and li o the baery cover.
Insert one 9 volt baery PP3 style (MN 1604 or equivalent), with
terminals facing down.
The orientaon of the baery is not important; the instrument will
work with the baery ed either way.
Ret the baery compartment cover.

• Prior to rst use, please remove the protecve lm from your IR
Med
• Protect sensor from hard or sharp objects
• Ensure sensor is free of dust and other foreign substances
• Keep the IR Med dry and away liquids and direct sunlight
• The sensor may be cleaned using an alcohol swab or a coon
bud moistened with 70% alcohol to gently wipe the sensor
clean
• Allow the sensor to dry fully for one minute
• Store at room temperature between -20˚C and +50˚C, RH <85%

Prior to taking a measurement, the IR Med and person must be at
the same stable ambient (room) temperature for 15 minutes before
operang.
Step 1: Aim the sensor at the person’s forehead, keeping a distance
of 3cm. Do not make contact with the forehead. This will aect the
readings and may contaminate the instrument.
Step 2: Gently press and release the ON (le) buon. Keep aiming at
the person’s forehead for approximately 2.5 seconds.
Step 3: Take a reading - once the IR Med has taken a reading it will
hold that value unl another reading is taken or it is turned o.
To take another reading repeat steps 1-3.
To turn the IR Med o, press the OFF (right) buon.
The IR Med will turn o automacally aer approximately 90 seconds
of inacvity.

• The IR Med is not intended as a substute for consultaon with
your doctor
• Keep out of reach of children under 12 years of age
• Do not allow children to take their own temperature unaided
• The IR Med is not waterproof. Do not submerge in water or other
liquids
• Do not use the IR Med if there are signs of damage to the sensor
• The IR Med is not intended for clinical use
• Forehead temperature is displayed in oral mode. This mode
converts forehead surface temperature to its ‘oral equivalent’
value
• Holding the IR Med for too long may cause a higher ambient
temperature. This could make the forehead temperature value
lower than usual
• Intended use for the IR Med: the measurement of infrared heat
generated by the temple area of the forehead
• Skin temperature measurement range 25°C-40°C - indicated
oral equivalent values 35°C-42.5°C
• Accuracy +/- 0.3°C in the displayed range

service and is a requirement in many sectors. The frequency for
calibraon cercaon is generally dictated by the quality standards
or operang procedures you adhere to - or somemes even by
legislaon. All our temperature calibraon cercates are traceable
to UKAS (United Kingdom Accreditaon Service).

This IR Med has been carefully assembled and tested. It is warranted
against faulty workmanship and materials for two years, from the
date of purchase.
During the warranty period, any defects to your IR Med will be
repaired or replaced at the discreon of the manufacturer.
This warranty does not cover damage or failure, resulng from
misuse or accident.
The modicaon, adjustment or alteraon of the internal arrangement
of your IR Med shall absolve the manufacturer from any liability in
respect of the instrument.
In the unlikely event that your IR Med should develop a fault please
return it to:
