The DataShield Pro encrypts all of your data and keeps it safe
from unauthorized access even if the hard drive is removed
from its housing. This unit is fully usb-powered and ideal for
personal or business use where data privacy is required.

First Time Set Up
Step 1: Conguring Your (DEK) Data Encryption Key
1. Press and hold down numbers 1 and 3 while simultaneously
connecting the USB cable to your computer or laptop.
2. The red and green LED lights will turn on after 5 seconds,
then release both buttons. Sequence is as follows:
Step 2: Choosing Your Passcode
1. Enter your desired passcode (0 -12 digits) followed by (#)
to save. Both the blue and orange lights will turn off after
successfully setting your passcode.
TIP: Failure to press buttons 1 and 3 simultaneously before connecting
to the computer will result in incomplete DEK set up. If so disconnect the
enclosure and complete steps 1-3 again.
2. Re-enter your passcode and press (#) to conrm.
3. The blue light will turn on to conrm that your passcode has
been successfully set up.

3. Press and hold (*) for 5 seconds, the orange LED light will
turn on. If the orange LED light does not turn on, it means
conguration mode was unsuccessful.

2. Locate your DataShield Pro drive in the list. It will show as
“Not Initialized”

4. Make sure your disk is selected and use GPT option

Step 3: Initialization and Formatting
A) Instructions for use with Windows 10, Windows 8, Windows 7,
and Windows Vista (for Mac see pg. 6)
1. On your taskbar, right click on the Windows icon and select
“Disk Management”

5. Right click the disk and select “New Simple Volume”
6. Select default settings, assign a volume label and click “Next”
7. Your drive is now ready to use.

B) Instructions for use with Mac OSX
1. Open Utilities, then Disk Utility
2. Select the disk and click the erase tab
*Warning: This will delete all your current data in the drive!
3. Select Mac OS Extended (Journaled) and click “Erase”
4. Your drive is now ready to use

Connecting the Drive
1. Connect the drive to the computer and wait until both red
and green LED lights are turned on
2. Enter your passcode and press (#)
3. The red LED light will turn off and the blue LED light will
turn on — The device is now unlocked.

Changing Your Passcode
1. Press and hold down (*) for 5 seconds while simultaneously
connecting the USB cable to your computer or laptop. The
red, green, and orange LED lights will turn on. Then release
the (*) button.
2. Input your current passcode and press (#). The blue LED light
will blink and turn off together with the orange LED light.
3. Enter your new passcode and press (#).
4. Enter your new passcode again and press (#). The red LED
light turns off and blue LED light turns on. Your device is
now unlocked.

Frequently Asked Questions
Q. Can I access the date if I forget the passcode?
A. No, you cannot access your encrypted data if you forget
your passcode.
Q. Can I still use the DataShield Pro if I forget the passcode?
A. Yes, you can continue using the device by resetting DEK. However,
all data will be lost. (See First Time Set Up)
Q. Does Datashield Pro provide defense against brute force attack?
A. Yes, after 20 failed passcode entries the Datashield Pro will
self-destruct. Data encryption key is deleted and data cannot
be recovered.
