ringwrench.Ifthedrillslidesawayinthedrillholder,a
slightburroccursonthedrillshank,whichmakescentric

Alwaysclamptheworkpieceinthemachineclampor

becausetheworkpieceisinafixedposition.

Adjustthebenchinsuchawaythatthereisstillenough
spacebetweenthetopoftheworkpieceandthepointof
thedrill.Youcanalsoswivelthebenchsideways,ifyou
wishtoclampaworkpiecedirectlyontothefootplate.

Forslanteddrillingandwithaslantedsupportingsurface
oftheworkpiecethebenchcanbeswivelled.Forthis
purposeloosenthehexagonalscrew(20)onthehinge
point(21)ofthebenchandremovethecentring.Swivel
thebench(19)tothedesiredposition.Thenscrew
downthehexagonalscrew(20)properlyusingawrench.

Thesupply-thefeedmotionofthedrill-takesplaceby
handonthe3-armeddrilllever.Thespeedofrotationis
determinedbythenumberofrevolutionsofthedrill
spindleandbythediameterofthedrill.Thecorrect
choiceofsupplyandthenumberofrevolutionsofthe
drillspindlearethedecidingfactorsforthelifespanof
thedrill.Thefollowingappliesasabasicrule:witha
largerdiameterofthedrillthenumberofrevolutions
mustbeadjustedlower;thegreaterthefirmnessofthe
workpiece,thegreaterthecuttingpressuremustalso
be.Inordernottooverheatthedrillinthiscase,the
supplyandspeedofrotationmustbeloweredatthe
sametime.Inaddition,thedrillmustbecooledwithdrill
oil.Forthinplates,quitelargedrillingsmustbecarried
outcarefullywithlittlesupplyandlittlecuttingpressure,
soastogetapreciseresultandsothatthedrilling
remainsthecorrectsize.
Fordeepdrilling(largerthan2xthediameterofthedrill)
thedischargeofchipsismoredifficultandthe
temperatureofthedrillishigher.Thereforelowerthe
supplyandthenumberofrevolutionsandensurea
betterdischargeofchipsbyregularlypullingbackthe
drill.Fordrillingwithagreaterdiameterthan8mm,pre-
drillingmusttakeplace,sothatearlywearofthedrill-
maincuttingedgecanbeavoidedandsothatthedrilling
pointisnottooheavilyloaded.
5.MAINTENANCE
Make sure that the machine is not live when
carrying out maintenance work on the motor.
TheFermmachineshavebeendesignedtooperateover
alongperiodoftimewithaminimumofmaintenance.
Continuoussatisfactoryoperationdependsupon
propermachinecareandregularcleaning.
CLEANING
Keeptheventilationslotsofthemachinecleanto
preventoverheatingoftheengine.Regularlycleanthe
machinehousingwithasoftcloth,preferablyaftereach
use.Keeptheventilationslotsfreefromdustanddirt.If
thedirtdoesnotcomeoffuseasoftclothmoistened
withsoapywater.Neverusesolventssuchaspetrol,
alcohol,ammoniawater,etc.Thesesolventsmay
damagetheplasticparts.
LUBRICATION
Themachinedonotneedtobegreased.Allbearingsand
drivinggearsaremaintenance-freeandgreasedforlife.
Thedrillmustbecleanedwithcompressedairoradry
cloth.Itisadvisabletocleantheblankpartsfromtimeto
timewithenvironmentallyfriendlysolventsandtoonly
greasewithacid-freeoilorgrease.
FAULTS
Shouldafaultoccur,e.g.afterwearofapart,please
contacttheserviceaddressonthewarrantycard.Inthe
backofthismanualyoufindanexplodedviewshowing
thepartsthatcanbeordered.
ENVIRONMENT
Inordertopreventthemachinefromdamageduring
transport,itisdeliveredinasturdypackaging.Mostof
thepackagingmaterialscanberecycled.Takethese
materialstotheappropriaterecyclinglocations.Take
yourunwantedmachinestoyourlocalFerm-dealer.
Heretheywillbedisposedofinanenvironmentallysafe
way.
