» take 2 x-rays from different angles
» a precise appreciation of canal anatomy is very
important
» fi nd entrance of canal and access the obturation
material
» prepare, if needed, a cavity 1-2 mm (DR1) and
drop solvent to soften obturation material. If
necessary, use a heat plugger or ultrasonics.
CORONAL THIRD FILLING REMOVAL
» gently engage DR1 rotating at 1000 rpm (1.5 Ncm)
into the obturation material
» the active tip of DR1 facilitates the initial penetration
» don’t force the way, take out the fi le, clean it
regularly and re-insert
» tip: clean and check the blade regularly
MEDIAN AND APICAL THIRDS FILLING REMOVAL
» insert DR2 rotating at 600 rpm (0.7 Ncm)
» don’t force the way, clean and check the blade
regularly
» continue to advance apically as long as fi lling
material is visible on the fl ute
» if needed, drop solvent to help removal of
obturation material
» establish fi nal WL and fi nalise shaping with
standard NiTi RaCe fi le(s)
