How to change the CMOS battery on a FOCUS POSIFLEX KS-6615 terminal
If you choose to use this document to replace
your CMOS battery instead of using RCS or a
computer technician understand you are doing
this at your own risk. If you run into any issues
you will need to contact RCS for assistance.

This is best performed when store is closed.
This replacement will require the following, do
not start project without these tools and
replacement battery
USB Keyboard
Phillips Screwdriver
Small Flat Screwdriver
CMOS Battery
CR2032 3v
USB Keyboard
Phillips Screwdriver
Small Flat Screwdriver
CMOS Battery (can be purchased from just about anywhere)

Before starting make sure the terminal you’re
working on matches the model number for this
document. This document is for the POSIFLEX KS-
6615 you can verify this on the sticker on the back
of the terminal.
Using the keyboard shutdown the POS
Plug USB keyboard in and press the Windows button on bottom
right of the keyboard between CTRL and ALT.
Click on START / SHUTDOWN
Once the terminal has shutdown turn terminal
upside down, unplug all cables and release stand
from touchscreen.
The amount and kind of cables can vary
depending on model of terminal. No matter what
remove all cables that will prevent you from
setting the stand to the side. Make note of cables
in case you have issues when reattaching them.
Turn terminal upside down.
Unplug all cables

Release stand from touchscreen
Push button down and slide towards the cable
connection.
Your equipment should now look as the following:

With touchscreen on its back using the phillips
screwdriver unscrews 6 screws.
Turn touch screen on its opisiot side.
Notice the card swipe is loose, be gently with
this as it is only attached to the touch screen
through the cable because we removed 2 of its
screws.
Using your flat head screwdriver gently lift the
top of the screen from the bottom of the base.

Gently lift case up, notice there are internal
wires going from top to bottom.
DO NOT UNPLUG ANY OF THE WIRES.
Gently set to the left the top of the
touchscreen reveling the CMOS battery.
Replacing the battery.
Using your flat head screwdriver gently press
the tab lifting up the battery.
Tip: Some CMOS batteries may be held down
by a metal clip or bar. This clip just holds the
battery in place and the battery can still be
removed by sliding it out from under the clip.
Do not bend this clip to get the battery out, as
a bent clip can result in the battery not staying
in the battery socket.

Take out the old battery.
Take your new battery and put in same
location with the + facing upwards.
Place top of touchscreen back on bottom base
(make sure all loose cables are free from
getting pinched.
Gently turn back over (holding the card swipe
as it will be free from the mount it will be
hanging from just the cable.
Take the 6 screws and put back in each
position they were removed from.
Set base back on back of touch screen and click
back on.
Plug back in all cables but the power cable.
Make sure the USB keyboard cable is plugged
in.
Now plug in the power cable and turn entire
station back upright. The computer should turn
on by itself and start loading Windows. If not
turn unit on by pressing the power on button
on the left side (you will have to open the door
to get to the power button.)

Setting Date & Time
As the computer boots, once it is in Windows
where you can see icons on the desktop,
perform the following instructions.
Once you are at the desktop, Focus will try to
load automatically, on your keyboard press
CTRL + ALT + DEL all at the same time. When
this window shows up click on “Task
Manager”.
When the task manager window comes up
click on Applications tab then click on Focus,
then click on End Task then click on the X at
the top right.

Double click on the time at the bottom right.
When the Date and Time Properties windows
opens, set the Month, Year and time and click
on Apply. Click on Time Zone and set to the
correct Time Zone, click on Apply. Click back on
Date & Time and verify the time is correct from
changing the time zone.
If everything is correct click on OK.
Double click on the Focus icon to launch the
software.
