FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
I can see a light as I dispense water, but will the UV light damage my
eyes?
UV light is not actually visible to the human eye and that purple glow you see
comes from the lamp but isn't UV. Your advanced UV machine is safe under
normal usage conditions.
Does the water need to be filtered prior to exposure to the advanced UV?
No, it does not need to be, but the clearer the water, the better the UV
penetration. But we do recommend filtering the water prior to the UV phase
as this ensures there are no particles in the water which can block the full
penetration of the light. The clearer the water, the better the transmittance of
the UV light through the water, and the better the purification.
What contaminants is advanced UV effective against?
Advanced UV is effective against bacteria, virus and parasites.
How long will the UV lamp last?
The UV lamp lasts for 5,000 hours.
How quickly does the advanced UV activate?
The advanced UV activates immediately 100% of the time. You may notice a
slight delay in water flow, this is because the advanced UV purifies the nozzle
before the water flows.

WHY FORBES FLO?
Today, rapid industrialisation has led to contamination of water. These
harmful contaminants act as vehicles for a wide spectrum of disease-
causing germs which adversely affect the human body. Namely, the kidneys,
liver, bones and the digestive system. Breeding diseases like typhoid,
hepatitis and dysentery in severe cases. The risk factor, rapidly changing as
your water source (municipal, tap, borewell, tanker, mixed etc.) changes.
Hence, you need to ensure that your quality of water is healthy & pure to drink,
and Forbes FLO is well equipped to eliminate these harmful contaminants,
delivering you the purest and safest water.

All fault-finding procedures must be carried out by a technician trained by
Forbes. Please take great care and suitable health and safety measures
when fault-finding on live electrical parts.
Note - If all the icons should flash and an audible alarm sounds, please switch
the UTS and faucet off immediately and call your authorised service agent.
The UV lamp has failed
Please call your authorised service agent.
A leak has been detected
Please turn off the water supply and call your authorised service agent.
1. No flow of water: Ensure that there is a water supply from the building
and that the installation isolation valve is turned on.
2. No flow of water: Check that the water filters are not blocked and that
they are in date. Forbes recommends filters are changed at 12-month
intervals.
3. Bad or plastic taste: If the Forbes FLO Under the Sink (UTS) & Faucet is
new it may need flushing for a longer period.
4. No power: Check if the building electrical supply to the Forbes FLO
Under the Sink (UTS) & Faucet is on and that the power cord is plugged
in. Ensure the red power switch at the rear of the Forbes FLO Under the
Sink (UTS) & Faucet is on. Test the Forbes FLO Under the Sink (UTS) &
Faucet fuse. Check that the top cover isolation switch is being activated
by the top cover being locked in place correctly. If all these points are OK
start normal fault-finding procedures.

MAINTAINING YOUR
FORBES FLO
1. Isolate the power to the Forbes FLO Under the Sink (UTS) & Faucet by
turning off the green and red switches at the rear of the UTS and by
removing the power cord.
2. Please remember that all Forbes filters have a left-handed thread.
Pre-flush the carbon filters outside the Forbes FLO Under the Sink (UTS)
to wash and then install them. If this is not possible then flush the filters
using the ambient option. Flush at least 10 litres of water through
the filters.
3. Remove the top cover of the faucet and remove the UV lamp first and then
release the water feed fittings to the quartz spiral. Remove the quartz
spiral. Clean the spiral removing any lime scale that may have adhered to
the quartz surface. It is important to clean the quartz to allow maximum
UV purification to take place.
4. Replace the UV lamp and reconnect the UV loom. Do not touch the
UV lamp with your bare hands as this will shorten the lamp life.
5. Reconnect the power cord.
6. Wipe the outside surfaces (non-abrasive cleaner), clean the drip tray,
check if there is sufficient air flow around the Forbes FLO Under the Sink
(UTS) and clean vents if needed.
7. Taste the water, ensure there are no carbon fines in the water and check
the Forbes FLO Under the Sink (UTS) & Faucet functions. Should there
be any taste issues or carbon fines still in the water, flush the Forbes FLO
Under the Sink (UTS) & Faucet again.

FILTERS
The filtration system on the Forbes FLO Under the Sink (UTS) & Faucet is
designed to reduce dirt and sediment particles from the water. The activated
carbon process will remove a whole range of contaminants e.g. chlorine and
pesticides. It is important for theadvanced Firewall UV sterilization system to
be supplied with clean water in order to achieve maximum efficiency when
destroying bacteria that may be present in the water.
There are many kinds of different filter combinations available from Forbes to
suit local water conditions. The filters are mounted on the exterior of the under
the sink unit.
IN FAUCET UV
The unique design allows the faucet area to be sterilised before, during and
after every dispense. The UV sensor detects if the UV lamp is working and
also monitors the UVC intensity.
UV LAMP
The UV light used is a 15 Watt germicidal lamp with a wavelength of
253.7 NM, which is very efficient at destroying bacteria in water. The UV lamp
is situated in the advanced faucet and surrounded by a quartz spiral that
attains NSF standard 55 class A purification as well as NSF P231.

OPERATING YOUR
FORBES FLO
Sleep mode is an energy-saving feature that minimizes power consumption
when the Forbes FLO Under the Sink (UTS) & Faucet is not in use over
extended periods.
Dispensing your water is very simple, as follows:
1. Place your cup centrally in the dispensing area of the Faucet.
2. Keep the button depressed until your cup has reached the desired level,
and then release the button.
AMBIENT WATER
Press the ambient water button and water will be dispensed after a 2-second
delay for the first dispense, this allows the faucet and advanced UV system to
be sanitised.

5. Check the electrical wall socket (polarity) and then make the electrical
connection to the Forbes FLO Under the Sink (UTS) & Faucet by plugging
the power lead into the socket on the rear of the Under the Sink (UTS).
Then connect to the electrical feed wall power outlet. Turn on the power
supply to the Under the Sink (UTS).
6. Taste test the water. If there is any hint of plastic taste in the water it means
the filters need to be flushed with an additional 10 litres.
7. Forbes FLO Under the Sink (UTS) & Faucet must not be installed in direct
sunlight, adjacent to a heat source.

PRINTED CIRCUIT BOARD (PCB)
The PCB (Printed Circuit Board) is the control unit for the Forbes FLO Under
the Sink (UTS) & Faucet. It is responsible for the functions of all the
mechanical and electrical parts (24V DC). The microprocessor drives the
display and buttons (on the top of the tap) which informs the user of the status
of the unit.
WATER PIPES AND FITTINGS
The inlet and the internal water circuit pipe size is 1/4” and 5/16”. The entire
internal water circuit and all the components which come in contact with
water are all food grade NSF/ WRAS approved parts.
WATER VALVES
Dispensing of water to the customer is achieved by means of a 24V DC
electrical solenoid valve. The valves are energized every time the customer
pushes the dispense button for a drink. DC voltage is used to give a positive
and quieter action of the solenoid valve.

Important notice: This procedure should only be carried out by a technician
trained by Forbes.
1. Check the box and its contents for any damage that may have occurred
during transportation.
2. Mount the Faucet on the counter using the diagrams and templates
provided in this manual. You will need to drill 3 holes so that you can mount
the faucet on the countertop. Use the base template to position the angle
of the faucet as once the holes have been drilled you cannot make any
adjustment to the angle.
The centre hole is used to secure the faucet to the counter. The outer holes
are for the water supply and the communication/power connection and
also help to secure the faucet to the counter.
3. It is advisable that the water and electricity supply are within two metres of
Forbes FLO Under the Sink (UTS) & Faucet and that the water isolation
valve and power supply are accessible. Forbes FLO Under the Sink (UTS)
& Faucet should not be installed using an extension lead. The water
supply should be from a potable source.
4. Connect the water supply. All water sources should be potable. Allow the
water supply to run clear of any sediment before connecting to the Forbes
FLO Under the Sink (UTS) & Faucet. The minimum pressure for the Forbes
