conditioner. Under no circumstancesshouldyou removethe ground

Test the power cord
All Friedrichroomair conditionersare shippedfrom the factory with a
LeakageCurrentDetectionInterrupter(LCDI)equippedpowercord. The
LCDIdeviceontheendofthe cordmeetstheULandNECrequirements
forcordconnectedairconditioners.
Totestyourpowersupplycord:
1. Plugpowersupplycordintoagrounded3prongoutlet.
2. PressRESET(SeeFigure1).
3. PressTEST,listenfor click;the RESETbuttontrips andpopsout.
4. PressandreleaseRESET(Listenforclick;RESETbuttonlatches
andremainsin). Thepowercordis readyfor use.
Failureto adhere to this precaution may cause
premature equipment malfunction.
Oncepluggedin,the unitwill operatenormallywithoutthe needtoreset
theLCDIdevice. Ifthe LCDIdevicefailstotripwhentestedorifthepower
supplycordisdamaged,itmustbereplacedwithanewpowersupplycord

Getting Started- Installtwo(2)AAA batteriesinthebatterycompartment
locatedonthebackofthe unit.
Operation -The remote control should be within 25 feet of the air
conditionerforoperation. (Referto Figure11foreffectiveness).Pressthe
powerbuttontoturn the remoteon. Theremotewill automaticallypower
offafter 15secondsifthebuttonsarenotbeingpressed.Theremotemust
be ontocontroltheunit.
POWERButton -Turnsremoteand unitonand off.
SYSTEM Button -Allows the user to sequentially select the
following: AUTO -AUTO -, COOL_, HEAT[], andFANONLY
operations.Whenthebuttonis pressed,the displayindicateswhich mode
has been selectedvia a display message.Notethat when the heating
functionisnotavailable,thesystemwillautomaticallyskipthe HEATmode.
FANMODEButton- Selectsbetweenautomatic(I!_t_W_ll)or
operation. Inthe _ mode,the fan onlyturnson and offwhenthe
compressoroperatesor the heatfunctionisenabled.
NOTE: _ is not availablein the FANONLYMode,the display
indicates_!. In the _ mode,fan speed is
determinedbyyourselectiononthe_ button.
FANSPEEDButton -Usedtosequentiallyselect newfan speed,plus
AUTO operation.Whenthe _ button is pressed,the fan speedicon
(triangle)changestoindicatethenewspeedlevel.Fanspeedautomatically
variesdependingonthesettemperatureonthecontrolpanelandtheactual
roomtemperature.Forexampleif thereisa bigdifferencebetweenyour
set temperatureand theactual roomtemperature,the systemfanspeed
increasesto HIGH. It remainsat thisspeeduntilthe roomtemperature
matchesthesettemperature.
SCHEDULEButton - The_ buttonturnsthe schedule function
on and off. Pressthe Schedule buttononce to turn on the Schedule
(Residential,Commercial,Timer,or Customized)that hasalreadybeen
selectedon yourunit. Pressingthe_ buttonasecondtimeturns
the schedule functionoff.
UP and DOWNArrows- Pressingeitherthe _ (UP) or [] (DOWN)
buttonchangesthe desiredroomtemperature.Thefactorypresetlower
andupperlimitsare60°F(16°C)and99°F(37°C).Thesebuttonsarealso
usedtonavigatebetweenfunctionoptionswhenusingthe UserMenuor
MaintenanceMode.
RemoteEffectiveness
Hand HeldRemote-Hasan operatingrangeofupto 25ft. Theinfrared
remotecontrolsignalmusthavea clearpathto transmitthe commandto
the air conditioningunit.The remotesignalhassomeabilityto "bounce"
offofwallsandfurnituresimilartoatelevisionremotecontrol.Thediagram

with 8 ft highceilings.
