INTRODUCTION
Thank you for purchasing this product which has
passed through our extensive quality assurance
process. Every care has been taken to ensure that it
reaches you in perfect condition.
SAFETY FIRST
Before attempting to operate this power tool the
following basic safety precautions should always be
taken to reduce the risk of fire, electric shock and
personal injury. It is important to read the instruction
manual to understand the application, limitations and
potential hazards associated with this tool.
CERTIFICATE OF GUARANTEE
This product is guaranteed for a period of 2 Years,
with effect from the date of purchase and applies only
to the original purchaser. This guarantee only applies
to defects arising from, defective materials and or
faulty workmanship that become evident during the
guarantee period only and does not include
consumable items. The manufacturer will repair or
replace the product at their discretion subject to the
following. That the product has been used in
accordance with the guide lines as detailed in the
product manual and that it has not been
subjected to misuse, abuse or used for a purpose for
which it was not intended. That it has not been taken
apart or tampered with in any way whatsoever or has
been serviced by unauthorised persons or has been
used for hire purposes. Transit damage is excluded
from this guarantee, for such damage the transport
company is responsible. Claims made under this
guarantee must be made in the first instance, directly
to the retailer within the guarantee period. Only under
exceptional circumstances should the product be
returned to the manufacturer. In these case it shall be
the consumer’s responsibility to return the product at
their cost ensuring that the product is adequately
packed to prevent transit damage and must be
accompanied with a brief description of the fault and
a copy of the receipt or other proof of purchase. The
manufacturer shall not be liable for any special,
exemplary, direct, indirect, incidental, or consequential
loss or damage under this guarantee. This guarantee
is in addition to and does not affect any rights, which
the consumer may have by virtue of the Sale of Goods
Act 1973 as amended 1975 and 1999.
The power tool is intended for domestic use only.
The power tool is not suitable and is not intended
for commercial or professional use.
The warranty does not cover defects and damage
to power tools resulting from use for purposes
other than domestic use, in particular as a result of
pushing through and abuse.

to one of the conditions below:
1. Misuse of product or negligence of proper
maintenance of product,
2. Commercial, professional or rental use of product,
3. Repair done by an unauthorized service company.

PRODUCT DISPOSAL
When this product reaches the end of it’s life or is
disposed of for any other reason, it must not be
disposed of in household waste. In order to preserve
natural resources, and to minimise adverse
environmental impact, please recycle or dispose of
this product in an environmentally friendly way. It
should be taken to your local waste recycling centre
or other authorised collection and disposal facility.
If in doubt consult your local waste authority for
information regarding available recycling and / or
disposal options.
SPECIFIC SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
WARNING! TWO HANDED OPERATION REQUIRED
This machine requires the use of two hands to ensure
safe operation and should not be used when working
from ladders and step ladders.
If this machine is to be used when working at height a
suitable, stable platform or scaffold tower with hand
rails and kick boards should be used.
EXTRE E CAUTION REQUIRED
Be aware that the paint on old wood could contain
high levels of lead. Extreme care should be taken
when planing painted surfaces. The dust may contain
LEAD which if touched, ingested or inhaled will cause
poisoning and can be fatal.
Any pre 1960 building may have had paint containing
lead on wood or metal structures.
Stop! If you suspect that the paint in your house
contains lead seek professional help.
WARNING!
Some wood and wood type products, especially MDF
(Medium Density Fibreboard), can produce dust that
can be hazardous to your health. We recommend the
use of an approved face mask with replaceable filters
when using this machine in addition to using the dust
extraction facility.
Ensure that power tools are disconnected from the
mains supply when not in use, before servicing,
lubricating, making adjustments, changing
accessories, replacing cutting blades and drive belts.
Before starting the machine for the first time ensure
that the blades are fitted correctly, that all the
securing bolts are tight and all guards are fitted and
are operating correctly.

Always secure the work piece if possible: Use clamps
or a vice to hold the work piece securely. This is far
safer than holding it in your hand and also means that
you have both hands free to operate the electric tool.
Allow the machine to run up to full speed before
commencing any planing. Observe the machine for
excessive vibration. This could indicate a poorly
installed blade or out of balance cutting head.
Blades must be replaced as a pair. Never mix new and
old blades. This is very dangerous and could cause
severe vibration and damage to the machine and
possible injury to the operator.
Do Not use blades that are bent, chipped or damaged
in any way. This is highly dangerous and could result in
a serious accident causing injury to the operator,
bystanders and damage to the machine.
Do Not start the machine with the blades in contact
with the work piece.
Only use blades that are recommended by the supplier
and that are in good condition.
Blade sharpening should only be carried out by trained
personnel with specialist equipment.
Keep hands well away from the ends of the material at
all times.
When planing long lengths ensure that there is
adequate support at both ends of the material.
Always wear safety goggles when operating the planer.
Always plane in the direction of the grain of the wood.
Do not take heavy cuts as better finish will be achieved
with more lighter passes.
Ensure that the work piece is free from any nails or
other foreign objects that could damage the planer
blades.
Never insert your fingers into the dust chute for any
reason while the machine is in operation as the cutting
blades revolve at very high speeds and could cause
injury.
Never leave the machine running while unattended.
Always allow the machine to come to a complete stop.
Then disconnect from the power supply before leaving
the unit unattended.

GENERAL SAFETY RULES
WARNING! Read all instructions Failure to follow all
instructions listed below may result in electric shock,
fire and/or serious injury. The term "power tool" in all of
the warnings listed below refers to your mains
operated (corded) power tool or battery operated
(cordless) power tool.
SAVE THESE INSTRUCTIONS
1) WORK AREA
a) Keep work area clean and well lit. Cluttered and
dark areas invite accidents.
b) Do not operate power tools in explosive
atmospheres, such as in the presence of flammable
liquids, gases or dust. Power tools create sparks
which may ignite the dust or fumes.
c) Keep children and bystanders away while operating
a power tool. Distractions can cause you to lose
control.
2) ELECTRICAL SAFETY
a) Power tool plugs must match the outlet. Never
modify the plug in any way. Do not use any adapter
plugs with earthed (grounded) power tools.
Unmodified plugs and matching outlets will reduce
risk of electric shock.
b) Avoid body contact with earthed or grounded
surfaces such as pipes, radiators, ranges and
refrigerators.
There is an increased risk of electric shock if your
body is earthed or grounded.
c) Do not expose power tools to rain or wet
conditions. Water entering a power tool will
increase the risk of electric shock.
d) Do not abuse the cord. Never use the cord for
carrying, pulling or unplugging the power tool. Keep
cord away from heat, oil, sharp edges or moving
parts. Damaged or entangled cords increase the
risk of electric shock.
e) When operating a power tool outdoors, use an
extension cord suitable for outdoor use. Use of a
cord suitable for outdoor use reduces the risk of
electric shock.
3) PERSONAL SAFETY
a) Stay alert, watch what you are doing and use
common sense when operating a power tool. Do
not use a power tool while you are tired or under
the influence of drugs, alcohol or medication.
A moment of inattention while operating power
tools may result in serious personal injury.
b) Use safety equipment. Always wear eye protection.
Safety equipment such as dust mask, non-skid
safety shoes, hard hat, or hearing protection used
for appropriate conditions will reduce personal
injuries.

c) Avoid accidental starting. Ensure the switch is in
the off position before plugging in. Carrying power
tools with your finger on the switch or plugging in
power tools that have the switch on invites
accidents.
d) Remove any adjusting key or wrench before
turning the power tool on.
A wrench or a key left attached to a rotating part
of the power tool may result in personal injury.
e) Do not overreach. Keep proper footing and
balance at all times. This enables better control of
the power tool in unexpected situations.
f) Dress properly. Do not wear loose clothing or
jewellery. Keep your hair, clothing and gloves
away from moving parts. Loose clothes, jewellery
or long hair can be caught in moving parts.
g) If devices are provided for the connection of dust
extraction and collection facilities, ensure these
are connected and properly used. Use of these
devices can reduce dust related hazards.
4) POWER TOOL USE AND CARE
a) Do not force the power tool. Use the correct
power tool for your application. The correct power
tool will do the job better and safer at the rate for
which it was designed.
b) Do not use the power tool if the switch does not
turn it on and off. Any power tool that cannot be
controlled with the switch is dangerous and must
be repaired.
c) Disconnect the plug from the power source before
making any adjustments, changing accessories, or
storing power tools. Such preventive safety
measures reduce the risk of starting the power
tool accidentally.
d) Store idle power tools out of the reach of children
and do not allow persons unfamiliar with the
power tool or these instructions to operate the
power tool. Power tools are dangerous in the
hands of untrained users.
e) Maintain power tools. Check for misalignment or
binding of moving parts, breakage of parts and
any other condition that may affect the power
tools operation. If damaged, have the power tool
repaired before use. Many accidents are caused
by poorly maintained power tools.
f) Keep cutting tools sharp and clean. Properly
maintained cutting tools with sharp cutting edges
are less likely to bind and are easier to control.
g) Use the power tool, accessories and tool bits etc.,
in accordance with these instructions and in the
manner intended for the particular type of power
tool, taking into account the working conditions
and the work to be performed. Use of the power
tool for operations different from intended could
result in a hazardous situation.
5) SERVICE
a) ave your power tool serviced by a qualified repair
person using only identical replacement parts. This
will ensure that the safety of the power tool is
maintained.
UNPACKING
Caution! This packaging contains sharp objects. Take
care when unpacking. Remove the machine, together
with the accessories supplied, from the packaging.
Check carefully to ensure that the machine is in good
condition and account for all the accessories listed in
this manual. Also make sure that all the accessories
are complete. If any parts are found to be missing, the
machine and its accessories should be returned
together in their original packaging to the retailer.
Do not throw the packaging away, keep it safe
throughout the guarantee period, then recycle if
possible, otherwise dispose of it by the proper means.
Do not let children play with empty plastic bags due
to the risk of suffocation.

When using equipment, a few safety precautions must
be observed to avoid injuries and damage. Please
read the complete operating manual with due care.
Keep this manual in a safe place, so that the
information is available at all times. If you give the
equipment to any other person, give them these
operating instructions as well.
We accept no liability for damage or accidents which
arise due to non-observance of these instructions and
the safety information.

The hand-held electric plane is designed for planing,
rebating and chamfering pieces of wood.

The machine is to be used only for its prescribed
purpose.
Any other use is deemed to be a case of misuse.
The user/operator and not the manufacturer will be
liable for any damage or injuries of any kind caused as
a result of this.
Please note that our equipment has not been designed
for use in commercial, trade or industrial applications.
Our warranty will be voided if the machine is used in
commercial, trade or industrial businesses or for
equivalent purposes.
BEFORE STARTING THE EQUIP ENT
Before you connect the equipment to the mains supply
make sure that the data on the rating plate are identical
to the mains data. Please ensure that the unit is not
connected to the electrical supply before making
adjustments to the equipment.
ASSE BLY
Note: Before carrying out any assembly or disassembly
of the unit please ensure that the unit is not connected
to the electrical supply.
ADJUSTING THE DEPTH OF CUT (FIG.4/ ITE 1)
The depth of cut scale is marked in increments of
0.1mm to a maximum depth of cut of 2.0mm.
To increase the depth of cut rotate the depth
adjustment knob clockwise. To decrease the depth of
cut, turn the depth adjustment knob anti-clockwise.
Always return the knob to the 0 position when the
planing operation is finished.
SAWDUST EXTRACTION (FIGS. 5-6)
For an optimal sawdust extraction you can connect the
supplied dust bag (2) to the hand-held electric plane.
To do so, slide the dust bag (2) into the chip ejector (7).
The dust bag (2) can be connected to the chip ejector
(7) optionally on either the left or right.
Use the changeover switch (9) to select between the
chip ejectors (7). It is recommended that the dust
extraction facility is used at all times.
PARALLEL GUIDE (FIG.7/ ITE 13)
Use the parallel guide (13) when you want to plane
parallel to the edge of the workpiece.
FITTING THE PARALLEL GUIDE (FIG.7)
Fasten the mount (d) of the parallel guide to the left
side of the tool using the supplied thumb screw (a).
Now connect the mount (d) to the slide of the parallel
guide (13).
The guide rail must always be aligned in downward
direction.
Fix the distance required between the parallel stop and
the edge of the workpiece.
Fasten the parts with the carriage bolt (b) and the wing
nut (c).
OPERATION
ON/OFF SWITCH (FIG.8)
The hand-held electric plane comes with a safety
switch which is designed to prevent accidental starting.
To start the machine press in the side safety lockoff
button (3) on the side of the handle and squeeze the
ON/OFF switch (4).
When the machine starts the safety butt n can be
released. T st p the machine release the ON/OFF
switch (4).
PRACTICAL TIPS
I PORTANT!
Only ever bring the hand-held electric plane towards
the workpiece while switched on.
PLANING SURFACES
Press in the safety button on the side of the handle,
then squeeze the ON/OFF trigger. Wait until the motor
reaches full speed, then bring the planer into contact
with the work piece. Using firm, even pressure push
the planer along the work piece. Keep the planer
parallel with the work piece, do not over reach and use
both hands at all times. Smooth actions result in a
smooth finish.
If excessive force is required inspect the blades for
sharpness and replace.
Used a low chip depth for finishing surfaces and
complete several passes over the surface.
CHANFERING EDGES (FIGS 9-10)
There is a V-shaped groove (a) in the front base plate
that enables you to plane edges at an angle of 45° for
a smooth finish, Fig.9.
Switch on the tool and wait until it reaches full speed.
Place the V-shaped groove (a) on the edge of the
workpiece at an angle of 45°, Fig.10. Now move the
electric plane along the edge of the workpiece.
To achieve a good quality result you should keep the
feed speed and angle constant.
PLANING STEPS (FIG. 7 & 11)
The planing of steps is possible with the help of the
parallel stop (13).
Mount the parallel stop (13) on the left side of the tool.
To mount the depth stop fasten the step depth scale
(12) to the front right side of the plane housing with the
locking screw (11) (See Fig. 11).
Release the locking screw (11) and position the step
depth scale (12) so that the required step depth is
displayed.
Tighten the locking screw (11) again.
WIDTH OF STEP:
You can set the width of the step with the parallel stop
(13).

DEPTH OF STEP:
We recommend you to set a cutting depth of 2 mm
and to keep planing the workpiece until the required
depth of step is reached.
RE OVING THE BLADE (FIG.12)
Warning! Before carrying out any maintenance or
adjustments the machine must be disconnected from
the mains power supply.
It should be noted that the heads of the clamping
screws (6) are used to secure the blade carrier
assembly into the recess in the blade cylinder. Use the
supplied blade wrench to slacken the three clamping
screws (6) in a anti-clockwise direction.
Caution! The blade is very sharp and care should be
taken when handling blades. Carefully remove the
blade (3) by sliding it outwards. If the blade does not
move easily use a flat bladed screw driver to gently
ease the blade out. Please note that the blade is
double edged and can be turned over to use the
second cutting edge.
Repeat this operation for other blade.
All parts should be inspected for wear and damage and
thoroughly cleaned to remove all traces of sawdust and
wood shavings.
Note: Blades should always be replaced in pairs.
INSTALLING THE BLADE (FIG.13)
Warning! Before carrying out any maintenance or
adjustments the machine must be disconnected from
the mains power supply.
Making sure that the blade is the correct way round,
slide the new blade between the blade carrier (4) and
the blade support (2).
Note that the lower back edge of the blade locates into
the groove in the blade support. Slide the blade along
until it sits centrally between the blade carrier (4) and
the blade support (2) the blade carrier assembly must
also sit centrally in the blade cylinder (1). Tighten the
three screws (6) clockwise until blade support (4) and
blade (3) are tightly clamped. No further adjustment is
necessary.
Repeat the operation for other blade.
Caution! The two Allen screws (5) (Fig.12) are factory
set and must not be adjusted. Before and during each
use periodically check the position and security of all
screws, bolts knobs and accessories to ensure correct
position and security. Switch the planer on and allow it
to reach full speed. If it vibrates abnormally or makes
an unfamiliar sound. Stop immediately and investigate
the cause.
CARBON BRUSHES
In case of excessive sparking, have the carbon brushes
checked only by a qualified electrician.
Important! The carbon brushes should not be replaced
by anyone but a qualified electrician.
BELT DRIVE REPLACE ENT
Before carrying out any maintenance or adjustments
the machine must be disconnected from the mains
power supply.
Remove the screw (a) securing the drive belt cover
plate (Fig.14) and remove the cover plate.
Remove the worn belt drive (b) by slowly rotating the
large pulley in an anti clockwise direction and at the
same time apply outward pressure to the top of the
belt and ease it off the large pulley and away from the
small pulley. Clean the two belt pulleys (c/d), Fig.15.
To fit the new drive belt, locate the belt over the small
pulley (c) ensuring that all the grooves in the belt are
correctly located into the grooves in the pulley. Offer
the other end of the belt onto the top of the large
pulley (d). Slowly rotate the large pulley and at the
same time ease the belt onto the large pulley ensuring
that all the grooves in the belt are correctly located into
the grooves in the pulley. Re-fit the drive belt cover
plate (6) and secure it with the screw. Switch the planer
on and allow it to reach full speed. If it vibrates
abnormally or makes an unfamiliar sound stop
immediately and investigate the cause.
AINTENANCE
Warning! To avoid accidents always disconnect the
tool from the power supply before cleaning or
performing any maintenance.
This power tool normally requires no maintenance;
from time to time the ventilation slots on the motor
casing should be cleaned out. If the unit should
become defective, repair should be performed by an
authorized service agent for electric tools.
The tool may be cleaned most effectively with
compressed dry air. Always wear safety goggles when
cleaning tools with compressed air.
Ventilation openings and switch levers must be kept
clean and free of foreign matter. Do not at tempt to
clean by inserting pointed objects through openings.
Avoid using solvents when cleaning plastic parts. Most
plastics are susceptible to damage from various types
of commercial solvents and may be damaged by their
use. Use clean cloths to remove dirt, dust, oil, grease,
etc.
Warning! Do not at any time let brake fluids, gasoline,
petroleum based products, penetrating oils, etc., come
in contact with plastic parts. Chemicals can damage,
weaken or destroy plastic which may result in serious
personal injury.
Electric tools used on fiberglass material, wallboard,
spackling compounds, or plaster are subject to
accelerated wear and possible premature failure
because the fiberglass chips and grindings are highly
abrasive to bearings, brushes, commutators, etc.
Consequently, we do not recommended using this tool
for extended work on these types of materials.

is extremely important to clean the tool using
compressed air.

All of the bearings in this tool are lubricated with a
sufficient amount of high grade lubricant for the life of
the unit under normal operating conditions. Therefore,
no further lubrication is required.
