Please read before use. HouseParty AirWave
Features:

Getting started:
■Plug the power cable into the back of the unit
and then into the mains supply.
■To activate the speaker, use the power switch
on the back of the unit.
■To select the mode, press the MODE button
on the speaker or on the remote control.
N.B. When using the HouseParty AirWave for
the first time, follow the instructions on the
screen to set up time and network access.
For use with
iPod / iPhone:
■Select and insert the correct docking adapter
to suit your iPod / iPhone.
NB: Please ensure that you use the correct dock
adapter for your iPod / iPhone to avoid damage
to the dock connector. If the specific adapter is
not included, please use the correct adapter
available from Apple with your iPod / iPhone.
GEAR4 will not be responsible for any damage
resulting in not using a dock adapter.
■When docking your iPod / iPhone, you will be
prompted to change to iPod mode.
■Alternatively press the MODE button on the
speaker, or remote control until iPod is
displayed on the screen.
■If your iPod / iPhone was switched off, it will
turn on and automatically start playing.
■Use the button on the speaker or the INFO
button on the remote control to choose
between displaying the song title, artist name,
album title, play time, date or authentication
confirmation on the screen of the speaker.
■To navigate your iPod / iPhone menu,
short-press the MENU button on the speaker
or remote control. Press SELECT to confirm.

■Press VOL– / VOL+ on the speaker or remote
control to adjust the volume.
■Press or on the speaker or remote
control to change track.
■Repeat play: press LOOP on the remote
control to repeat a single track.
■Press again to repeat all tracks on your
current playlist. Press again to cancel.
■Shuffle Play: Press button on the remote
control to shuffle tracks. Press again to
cancel.
■To access the system menus, long-press
MENU on the speaker or remote control.
For use with Internet
radio:
■To enter Internet radio mode, press the
MODE button on the speaker or remote
control until the display shows Internet radio.
■To select a radio station press the MENU
button, then select ‘Station List’.
■From this menu you can browse for radio
stations by location, genre, popular stations
or manually search for a station.
■To manually search for a station, go into
‘Stations’, and then ‘Search stations’.
Enter a keyword by selecting characters
then select OK.
■To select a recently listened to radio station
- press the MENU button. Scroll to ‘Last
listened’ and press the SELECT button to
confirm. The station most recently used will
be displayed at the top of the list.
■To store an Internet radio preset - press and
hold PRESET on the remote control until the
display shows the save preset screen. Select
one of the 10 presets to save the current
radio station.
■To listen to a preset radio station - press
PRESET on the remote control, then select
one of the listed preset stations.
■To store a playing station as a favourite, press
and hold Select until the display shows
‘Favourite added’. The station appears in the
default favourites list Stations.
■To find your favourite stations, select Menu >
Station list > My favourites > Stations.
■To browse podcasts - press the MENU button
on the speaker, then select ‘Station list’ then
‘Podcasts’. From this menu you can browse
by location or genre, or you can manually
search by entering a keyword.
■Whilst the Internet radio or Podcast is
streaming, the screen will display the station
name and a description. To view further
information press on the speaker or INFO
on the remote control.
N.B. BBC Radio ‘Listen Again’ programmes are
accessible through the Podcast menu.

For use with DAB radio:
■Extend the radio antenna.
■Press the MODE button on the speaker or
remote control to select DAB mode.
■When using the HouseParty AirWave for the
first time it will run a full scan and store the
stations in its memory.
■To start a manual scan, press the MENU
button and select ‘Full scan.’
■Use the and buttons to scroll through the
available stations and press SELECT to
confirm.
■To store a DAB radio preset - press and hold
PRESET then select one of the listed preset
stations.
■To listen to a preset radio station - press
PRESET on the remote control, then select
one of the listed preset stations.
■Whilst the DAB radio is playing, the screen
will display the station name and a
description. To view further information press
on the speaker or INFO on the remote
control.
■To change the order that the stations are
listed - press the MENU button, then select
station order.
For use with FM radio:
■Extend the antenna of the radio.
■Press the MODE button on the speaker or
remote control to select FM mode.
■To select a station - use the and buttons
on the speaker or on the remote control.
■To store a FM radio preset - press and hold
PRESET on the remote control, then select
one of the preset stations.
■To listen to a preset radio station - press
PRESET on the remote control, then select
one of the listed preset stations.
■Whilst the FM radio is playing, the screen will
display the station name and a description.
To view further information press on the
speaker or INFO on the remote control.
■To ensure only stations with good signal
strength are found press the MENU button on
the speaker then select ‘Scan Settings’ and
select ‘YES’.
■To only play stations with weak signal
strength in mono, press the MENU button on
the speaker then select ‘Audio setting’ and
select ‘YES’.

For use with a Media
Storage Centre:
It is possible to play audio files from a storage
centre on the local network.
■Press the MODE button on the speaker or
remote control to select Media Player mode.
■To select a music source - select ‘Shared
Music’ then the source you would like to
listen to.
■To make a playlist - find the track you would like
to add to the playlist, then press and hold the
SELECT button on the speaker until ‘Added to
My playlist’ is displayed on the screen.
■To manage a playlist - press the MENU button
on the speaker then select ‘My playlist’. From
here the whole playlist can be viewed.
■To delete a song from the playlist - press and
hold the SELECT button until ‘Delete from
My playlist’ is displayed on the screen, then
select ‘YES’.
■To repeat a track - press the MENU button on
the speaker, then select ‘Repeat play’.
■To shuffle tracks - press the MENU button on
the speaker, then select ‘Shuffle play’.
■Whilst a track is playing, the screen will
display the track name. To view further
information press on the speaker or INFO
on the remote control.
For use with other audio
devices:
■Press the MODE button on the speaker or
remote control to select AUX in mode.
■Plug a 3.5mm audio cable (not included) into
your CD, MP3 or MP4 player, and connect
the other end into the AUX IN port at the back
of the unit.
■Use your audio device to control the music.
■To adjust the volume, use the VOL–and VOL+
buttons on the speaker or remote control.
To set the time and date:
When the radio first connects to the Internet it
will automatically set the time and date.
■To change the mode to either FM or DAB -
press the MENU button on the speaker to
revert back to the main menu. Then select
‘System settings’, then ‘Time / Date’, then
‘Auto update’. From here the update source
can be changed.
■To manually change the time and date - press
the MENU button on the speaker to revert
back to the main menu. Then select ‘System
settings’, then ‘Time / Date’ followed by ‘Set
Time / Date’.
■Use the and buttons on either the
speaker or the remote control to adjust the
hour. Press SELECT to confirm.

■Follow the same process to set the minutes,
date, month and year.
To set the alarm:
■Press the ALARM button on the remote
control or MENU on the speaker followed by
‘Alarms’.
■Select whether ‘Alarm 1’ or ‘Alarm 2’ is to
be set.
■To enable the alarm - select ‘Enable’ and
select the frequency of the alarm.
■To set the time - select ‘Time’ from the alarm
menu, then alter the the hour and minutes
using the and buttons and SELECT
to confirm.
■To set the alarm mode - select ‘Mode’ from the
alarm menu, then select the required mode.
■To set the alarm volume - select ‘Volume’
from the alarm menu, then use the and
buttons and SELECT to confirm.
N.B. When the speaker is in standby mode,
press the ALARM button on the remote control
to activate the alarm.
Sleep function:
The sleep function turns the HouseParty
AirWave off after a period of time.
■To use the sleep function - press the S/S
button on the remote control or press the
MENU button on the speaker then select
‘Main Menu’ then ‘Sleep’.
■Use the S/S button on the remote or the
and buttons on the speaker to scroll
between different time periods.
To perform a factory
reset:
■Press the MENU button on the speaker or on
the remote control and select ‘System
settings’, followed by ‘Factory reset’.
N.B. A factory reset will revert all user settings
back to default values, including time / date,
network configuration and presets.
To perform a software
update:
The HouseParty AirWave will automatically
check for updates.
■To change this press the MENU button on the
speaker or the remote control, then select
‘System settings’ followed by ‘Software
update’ then ‘Auto-check settings’.

software, connect your iPod / iPhone to iTunes.
If there is a newer software version available
you will be prompted to upgrade.

UNPACKING AND INSTALLATION
Unpack your unit carefully. We recommend that
you save the packaging in case you ever need to
store your unit. To avoid damage, never place the
unit or its batteries near radiators, in front of
heating vents, under direct sunlight or near water.
FOR YOUR SAFETY
‒ When disconnecting the power supply, pull
the plug first. Do not pull the cord by itself.
‒ Never handle the power plug with wet hands,
as this could cause fire or electric shock.
‒ Refer servicing to qualified personnel only.
‒ Do not open the housing.
‒ Do not twist or pinch the power supply cord.
If the plug or power supply cord needs to be
replaced, ensure that it complies with the
manufacturer’s recommendation.
‒ Unplug the unit during lightning storms and
when unused for extended periods of time.
DISPOSAL
According to the European Directive 2002/96/EC
all electrical and electronic products must be
collected separately by a local collection system.
Please act according to your local rules and do
not dispose of your old products with your
normal household waste.

symbol, within an equilateral triangle,
is intended to alert user to the

GEAR4 One-Year Warranty
Disruptive Limited, who owns the GEAR4 brand, warrants this product to be free from defects in
workmanship and materials at the point of sale and that when this product is used in accordance
with the instructions for its use it shall continue to be free from defects, for a period of one (1) year
from the date of original purchase.
Any damage or defects caused by a failure to follow the instructions which relate to this product or as
the result of an accident, abuse, misuse, misapplication, product modification, faulty ancillary
equipment, improper voltage or current, lightning or other acts of God, commercial non-home use,
normal wear and tear, shipping damage or loss, damage to digital media players or damage caused
by service performed by anyone other than Disruptive Limited are expressly excluded from the
warranty stated above.
Disruptive Limited will, at its sole election, repair or replace any product that proves to be defective in
either or both of workmanship or materials and which is covered by this warranty. If the product is no
longer current or is out of stock, at its sole election, Disruptive Limited may replace your product with
a similar product. Disruptive Limited’s liability is limited to the repair or replacement, of any defective
product under warranty and any incidental or consequential damages are expressly excluded to the
fullest extent permitted by law. This warranty is not transferable and does not extend to users other
than the person who originally purchased the product.

Return Policy / Warranty Service
Warranty claims will only be valid when accompanied with proof of purchase to evidence that the
product was purchased from an authorised dealer and that the claim is within allowed period. To
make a warranty claim you must first contact Disruptive Limited by email to support@gear4.com
stating your name, full postal address, telephone number, date and place of purchase and a detailed
description of the problem you are experiencing and don’t forget to include the name of the product
and its serial number.
If the defect is covered by this warranty then you will be provided with a Return to Manufacturer
Authorisation number and instructions for return shipment. Sending the product back to us under
this warranty shall be at your expense, and the return MUST be accompanied by the original proof
of purchase whilst we highly recommend that you retain a copy of this. Disruptive Limited shall not
responsible for lost or damaged products during shipment. Any product returned without the original
proof of purchase will be returned without being examined or tested and such return shall be at the
customer’s expense.
To avoid any additional charges, all returns and exchanges must include the original packing
materials, product box, all included accessories which may include, but not necessarily be limited
to, power adapters or power cords, connecting cables, remote controls, adapters, inserts cards and
instruction manuals. The absence of any of the aforementioned items may mean that you incur a
charge for their replacement. Disruptive Limited shall not be liable for any inconvenience, or loss of
time, loss of use of the product.
This warranty gives you specific legal rights in addition to the ones afforded you by the laws of your
country and nor is this warranty intended nor does it operate to limit such legal rights.
