1.3.0 Functions of GfS e-Bar®
The GfS e-Bar® is innovative thanks to intregrated multiple functions. It complies with the European Norm DIN EN 1125 for
push-bars. As all control functions are integrated into the product, no additional means are required to secure the emer-
gency exits. The GfS e-Bar® might secure single- or double-winged panic doors against abuse. In order to increase the in-
hibition threshold, the GfS e-Bar® works with pre- and main alarm.
Door alarm secured
The panic door is alarm secured. The wired GfS e-Bar® display shines constantly
green. The battery operated GfS e-Bar® is working in an energy saving modus
and doesn’t shine.
Step -1 Pre-alarm
While slightly pressing the GfS e-Bar®, a visual red LED light and acoustic
(95 dBA/1 m) pre-alarm is activated. It expires as soon as the GfS e-Bar® is
released. The door remains closed.
Step 2 – general alarm
When pushing the GfS e-Bar® completely, the emergency exit door opens and
the display emits a flashing green light and a permanent acoustic alarm
(95dBA/1m).Onlyanauthorizedpersonwithakeymayswitchoandreacti-
vate the GfS e-Bar®. An automatic alarm shutdown can be set up.
Single release
By using the integrated key switch or by employing an external access control
system, an authorized person may pass the emergency exit once. In case the
door has been left open for more than 10 seconds a gentle “door-too-long-open”
alarm is emitted.
Permanent release
Byusingtheintegratedkeyswitch,anauthorizedpersonmaydeactivatethe
GfS e-Bar® in order to pass the emergency exit for a longer period of time.
This status is communicated by a rising and ebbing green display.

This model works either with a 9V battery which is controlled by the PCB or with an external power supply of 10-30VDC.
The battery control function checks every 10 hours the voltage. If the voltage drops below 7V, all 60 seconds an acoustic alarm
is emitted. The battery has to be exchanged. When battery operated the GfS e-Bar® works in an energy saving mode which ba-

3.2.0 Shortening
1. Insert shortening tool into the corresponding profile.
2. Fix the base profile in a bench vice as demonstrated.
The clamp jaws are used as block for the lug of the shortening tool.
Attention: In order to avoid scratches on the surface of the profile,
the profile has to be protected with wooden/ plastic protective sleeves.
3. Position a regular metal saw right next to the lug. Cut the profile parallel to the cover surface.
Light pressure towards the lug makes it easier to cut straight.
4. After having shortened the GfS e-Bar® bur carefully the edges, in order to avoid injuries
Attention: Do not employ “lubricants and coolants” when shortening the GfS e-Bar with mechatronic.
Remove the swarf in the GfS e-Bar® before assembling it. Otherwise risk of short circuit failure.

GfSSafety at doors
Voltage 9V battery or 12–30V DC power supply
Current draw in battery operation mode
door alarm secured 4 µA
door open 0,5mA, briefly 90mA short-term, intermittent
pre-alarm 190 mA
main-alarm in average 160mA intermittent
Current draw with external power supply
door alarm secured 130 mA
door open 6 mA, briefly 130 mA short-trem intermittent
pre-alarm 235 mA
main-alarm in average 190mA intermittent
Battery low signal below 7V (measured during operation)
Automatic alarm switch o when jumper is set: after 3 minutes
Alarm activation delay in EECU mode 15 sec.
Attention: The code switch has to be positioned on “0”. When releasing the GfS e-Bar® with a key switch, a signal is sent to the
EECU, which releases the magnet. After 15 sec. the magnet will be activated again (or when closing the door again). Therefore
another external reed contact on the door is required. Otherwise a bridge has to be placed on the PCB. The functionality of the reed
contact might lead to an unintentional alarm in case that the activated GfS e-Bar is pushed while the door is still standing open.
