WARNING!
Expansion cardscontainverydelicateIntegrated Circuit(IC)chips.Toprotectthemagainst
damage fromstaticelectricity,you shouldfollowsomeprecautionswheneveryou workon your
computer.
1.Turnoff yourcomputerand unplug powersupply.
2.Useagrounded wriststrap beforehandling computercomponents.If you do nothaveone,
touchbothofyourhandstoasafelygrounded objectortoametalobject, suchasthe power
supplycase.
3.Placecomponentson agrounded antistaticpad oron the bag thatcamewiththe
componentswheneverthe componentsareseparated fromthe system.
The cardcontainssensitiveelectriccomponents,whichcan be easilydamaged bystatic
electricity,sothe cardshouldbe left initsoriginalpacking until itisinstalled.
Unpacking and installation shouldbe done on agrounded anti-staticmat. The operatorshould
be wearing an anti-staticwristband,grounded atthe samepointasthe anti-staticmat.
Inspectthe cardcarton forobviousdamage.Shipping and handling maycausedamage toyour
card.Besurethereareno shipping and handling damageson the cardbeforeproceeding.

CARD.
MInordertoensureyourgraphics cardworking correctly,please use officialGigabyte

Installing YourGraphics card..
Nowthatyou haveprepared yourcomputer,you arereadytoinstall yourgraphics
acceleratorcard.
Toinstall yourgraphics acceleratorcard
1.Poweroff the computerand monitor,then disconnectthe displaycablefromthe
backofyourcomputer.
2.Removethe computercover.If necessary,consultyourcomputer'smanualforhelp
inremoving the cover.
3.Removeanyexisting graphics cardfromyourcomputer.
Or,ifyourcomputerhasanyon-boardgraphics capability,you mayneed todisableit
on the motherboard.Formoreinformation,see yourcomputerdocumentation.

4.Locatethe AGPslot. If necessary,removethe metalcoverfromthisslot; then align
yourGraphics cardwiththe AGPslot, and press itinfirmlyuntil the cardisfully
eated.
5.Replacethe screwtofasten the cardinplace,and replacethe computercover.
6.Plug the displaycableintoyourcard;then turnon the computerand monitor.
You arenowreadytoproceed withthe installation ofthe Graphics carddriver.For
detailed instructions,selectyouroperating systemfromthe listbelow:

Inthismanual, weassumethatyourCD-ROMDrive lettertobeDrive D:
3.1.WINDOWS®98 /98SE orWINDOWSME/WINDOWSXP DRIVER
AND UTILITIES INSTALLATION
The installation ofWin98/98SE /WinME/WinXP driversisverysimple.
When you insertthe driverCD intoyourCD-ROMdrive,you can see the AUTORUN
window(ifitdoesnotshowup,run "D:\setup.exe").Then you can followguidesto
setup yourAG32Sdriver(Pleasefollowthe subsection 3.1.3"Step ByStep Installation"
toinstall the driverforyourgraphics accelerator.
3.1.1.Operatingsystemrequirement
lIf yourOSisMicrosoft Windows,when loading the AG32Sdriversforthe
system,pleasemakesureyoursystem(Windows98/98SE orWindowsME)has
installed DirectX8.1orlater.
lIf you install the AG32Sdriversforthe mainboard,which
consistofSIS,ALIorVIAchipsets,pleaseinstall the appropriateDriverprogramfor
thatmainboard.OrpleasecontactyourmotherboardnearestdealerforM/BDiver.

Install Microsoft DirectX8.1toenable3Dhardwareacceleration supportforWin98/
98SE orWinMEtoachievebetter3Dperformence.
Note:ForsoftwareMPEGsupportinWin98/98SE orWinME,you mustDirectXfirst
install.
1.Installation DirectXDriver
Click "Install DirectX8.1”Item.
2.Click "Yes"icon.
3.Click "Yes“icon.

The following isthe step-by-step installation guide.
Step1:NewHardwareFound
AfterAG32Sisinserted intoyourcomputeratthe firsttime,the windowswill automati-
callydetectanewhardwareinthe systemand pop outa"NewHardwareFound"
message.Pleaseselect"Donotinstall adriver"and press OK.
Step2:UpdateDevice DriverWizard:StandardPCIGraphicsAdapter(VGA)
Step3:UpdateDevice DriverWizard:Finish
Atthistime,systemwill ask foryourWindowsCD inordertocompletethe VGAdriver
installation.
If you don'thavethe CD,you can press C:\Windows\Systemdirectory.
Step4:SystemSetting Change
1.Click "Next“icon.
2..Click "Finish“icon.
MDon’tclick “Cancel”,because
the systemwill hang ifyou press it.

Afterthe systemhasfinished loading,insertthe AG32SdriverCD disk intoyourCD-
ROM,and then you can see the AUTORUN window.If itdoesnotshowup,pleaserun
"D:\setup.exe".

3.1.4.Utilities on driverCD
The utilitiesinclude DisplayDriverand V-Tunerutilities.Pleasebrowsethe driverCD
fordetail.
Afterinstallation ofthe displaydrivers,you will find an GBTicon on the taskbar’sstatus
area.Right-clicking thisicon opensthe GBTcontrolpanel,showing amenu composed
ofshortcuteofthe graphics board’senhanced and otherfunctions.
You mayclick the “DisplayProperties”item,and then click Settings.Click “Advanced”
afterclickng Settings.Click the appropriatetab tochange yourdisplaysettings.
You can linktoGBTweb site
forupdated information about
the graphics borad,latest
drivers,and other
information.

ColorAdjust
ColorAdjustallowsyou tomakecoloradjustments,suchasbrightness,
contrast, and gammavaluesforeachorall ofRGBcolors.

The screen showsthe information ofdisplayadapter,color,the range ofdisplay
area and the refreshrate.
Setting (Resolutionsand Colordepthforwindows)
The Setting propertiespage allowsyou toadjustthe Direct3Dsettings
OptionsProperties
Click”Advanced..”icon foradapter
and setting.
You can click the itemtochange
the colordepth.
You can movethe slidertothe
change resolution.
nEnableATItaskbaricon application enablesor
disablesthe ATItaskbaricon.However,thisfeature
mustbe enabled forATIhotkeysupport.
nShowATIicon on taskbaraddsorremovesthe ATI
icon fromthe taskbar.

The OpenGLpropertiespage givesyou completecontrolofthe OpenGLsettings.
nOptimizationPreference
lQualityallowsyou tooptimizeyourOpenGLsettingsforquality.
lPerformance allowsyou tooptimizeyourOpenGLsettingsforperformance
nOpenGLSettings
lConvert32 bittextures to16 bitallowsyoutoincreasevideo performancefor
gamesthatmakeheavy useoftextures.Howeverthiscouldalsoreduceimage
quality.
lEnableKTXbufferregion extension enablesrapidupdatesofthoseportionsof
yourscreen thathavebeen moved.
lEnablepageflipping allowsyoutoenablehardwareacceleration ofpage flipping
toswap full screen buffers.
lForce 16-bitZ-buffering allowsyou todisableall otherformatsofZ-bufferand
utilizes16-bitZ-buffering.
lDisabledithering whenalphablending mayremoveartifactsleft on the screen
when bothdithering and alpha blending areenabled.
lWaitforverticalsynclowersthe framespersecond rateinfull screen games
Howeverthiscan reducethe image tearing thatcan occurwithhigherframerates.
lLevelofDetail allowsyou tosetthe levelofmipmapped detail.
The Sharpsetting isrecommended forlarger,moredetailed,mipmapping scenes
The Fuzzysetting isrecommended forsmaller,less detailed,mipmapping scenes.

Direct3DDisplay Properties
The Direct3Dpropertiespage allowsyou toadjustthe Direct3Dsettings.
D3DSettings
nWaitforverticalsyncallowsyou tolowerthe framerateoffull screen games.Thiswill .
reduceimage tearing thatcan occurwithhigherframerates.
nCompressedtextureformatallowsyou toenablesupportforDirectXcompressed
textureformats.Someapplicationscannothandletoo manytextureformats.Disabling
compressed textureformatthe video driverceasestosupportthisfeature.Thisreduces
the numberoftextureformatssupported.
nAnti-aliasing providesyou withan overall higherqualityvideo image withaslight
reduction inperformance.When “Application Preference”mode isselected,the video
driverwill useanti-aliasing onlywhen an application requestsit. When “Always On”
mode isselected,the video driverwill forceanti-aliasing on all applications.
nDefaultsrestoresyourDirect3Dsetting totheirdefaultvalues.
