Warning: Speedflying is a potentially dangerous activit y. It is the user’s own
responsibility to assess all weather and meteorological conditions, the flying area, all
equipment , etc, before you use t his equipment . This equipment was not designed for any
ot her use than that of speedflying as described in this manual. This equipment should be
launched from t he ground and must never be used for any of the following: Parachuting,
BASE jumping; jumping from any aircraft , or high object; building, antenna, bridge, cliff,
etc. You should wear a helmet as well as all saf ety equipment required for the practice of
paragliding and Speedflying. It is strongly recommended to learn Speedflying in a
specialised school. When Speedflying, always choose a safe, open area enabling you t o
keep a wide safet y margin. Do not practice Speedflying in the vicinity of obstacles, cliff s,
rocks or any other hazards. This equipment requires constant care when it comes t o
maintenance and handling. Only use the Bobcat glider with the Bobcat harness; they have
been designed to be used t ogether.

If y ou do need t o make adj ust ment s t o suit your harness, body and f lying st yl e, we st r ongl y
recommend t hat you t est f ly t he gli der wi t h ever y 2cm of adj ust ment . Ther e shoul d be a

enable you t o incr ease t he speed of your glider , and t o have bet t er penet rat ion t hrough t he air

Act ive Fl yi ng
The YAK has a high i nt ernal pr essure, hi gh r esi st ance t o col lapses and a hi gh level of passi ve
secur i t y . However , i t i s r ecommended wit h t hi s t ype of glider t o adopt an act ive handl ing st yl e
t hat will hel p y ou t o f l y saf ely. The key t o act ive handl ing i s t o keep your gl ider above your
head. If t he gli der has a t endency t o l ag behind, r aise your hands. If t he gli der has a t endency t o
shoot f orward, t hen cont rol it wi t h t he brakes. In al l cases, al way s r emember t o keep suf f i ci ent
ai r - speed and avoi d over - pi l ot i ng. Be ready t o cont rol t he YAK on t he r ol l axi s also, pi lot i ng t he
exi t f r om spi r al i f needed.
In t urbulent condit i ons
The YAK i s a ver y st abl e gl ider and col l apses on one or bot h of t he f ront ri ser s are ext r emely
rare. Ext reme t urbulence could generat e a coll apse but t he YAK wi l l r esume nor mal f l ight i n
al most al l conf i gur at i ons. In case of any doubt , keep your hands at shoul der height and l et t he
gl i der f l y .
However , if t he gli der shoot s f or war d vi ol ent l y, cont rol it wi t h t he brakes immedi at el y . To help
y our gl i der r esume f l i ght mor e r api dly , i t i s r ecommended t o use an act i ve handling st y l e,
wi t hout bei ng out of t ime wit h t he wing’s movement s.
Caut i on :
The YAK is not desi gned t o perfor m manoeuvres out side t he normal fli ght confi gurat i on. Our
t est pil ot s have t est ed t he var i ous react ions i n ext r eme si t uat ions; however we st rongly
recommend t hat you do not per f or m st all s, manoeuvres and spins. It i s al so st r ongl y
recommended not t o f ly any aerobat i cs wi t h t he YAK.

Landi ng wit h t he YAK
Choose a landing ar ea free of obst acles. It i s recommended t o l and wit h a f ul l f lai r ; i t w il l enabl e
you t o obt ain a zero ver t i cal speed and an easy r un at t he end of t he fl ai r . Do not make y our l ast
t urn at l ow hei ght , or make a r adi cal t urn cl ose t o t he ground. Do not approach t oo sl owl y wi t h
t he back t ri mmer on and a l ot of br ake. The best l andi ng approach i s wi t h t he t r i mmer s set t o
neut ral and t hen use a pr oper f l ai r t o bl eed of y our speed.

you manage y our f l ai r correct l y. Landi ng in low speed t rim posi t i on is not r ecommended.

Gr ound handl i ng

ri gidi t y i n t he profi l e r einf or cement s.

Tr anspor t and St or age
Moist ur e i s t he worst enemy of your gl i der , adver sel y af f ect i ng t he agei ng of f abr i c, l i nes and
rei nforcement s. The YAK should t heref ore be kept dr y and cool . Do not pack t he gli der away for a
prol onged per i od i f it i s damp, sandy , sal t y, or i f ot her obj ect s have ent er ed t he cell s. Alway s
al low it t o dry nat urall y befor e st orage i n a dry room. Leave t he r ucksack zi p open whenever
possible t o all ow r esidual moist ur e t o evaporat e, and do not t r anspor t or st or e t he gl i der in t he
pr oximi t y of chemi cal s such as gasol ine, pai nt s or ot her sol vent s.
Cl eaning
Use onl y l ukewarm wat er and a soft cl ot h t o clean your wi ng. Never use any abrasive mat er i al s
or det er gent s. Only clean t he wing if i t i s absol ut el y necessar y e.g. af t er a l andi ng i n sal t wat er .
Mai nt enance Inspect ions
GIN Gl ider s r ecommend t hat t he YAK i s i nspect ed by an aut hor ized Gi n agent af t er every 50
hour s f l ying t ime or ever y year , whi chever i s sooner .

A f ul l i nspect ion wi l l give y ou peace of mind and ext end your gli der 's l i f et ime. Addit i onal
inspect ions shoul d be per formed by a quali fied per son foll owing a crash or viol ent l anding on
t he l eading edge, or i f y ou not e a det eriorat i on of perf or mance or behaviour.
