WARNING: Always wear ear protection where the sound level exceeds 85dB(A) and limit the time of exposure
if necessary. If sound levels are uncomfortable, even with ear protection, stop using the tool immediately and
check the ear protection is correctly tted and provides the correct level of sound attenuation for the level of
sound produced by your tool.
WARNING: User exposure to tool vibration can result in loss of sense of touch, numbness, tingling and reduced
ability to grip. Long term exposure can lead to a chronic condition. If necessary, limit the length of time exposed
to vibration and use anti-vibration gloves. Do not operate the tool with hands below a normal comfortable
temperature, as vibration will have a greater effect. Use the gures provided in the specication relating to
vibration to calculate the duration and frequency of operating the tool.
Sound and vibration levels in the specication are determined according to EN60745 or similar international
standards. The gures represent normal use for the tool in normal working conditions. A poorly maintained,
incorrectly assembled, or misused tool, may produce increased levels of noise and vibration.
www.osha.europa.eu provides information on sound and vibration levels in the workplace that may be useful to
domestic users who use tools for long periods of time.
General Safety
WARNING Read all safety warnings and all instructions. Failure to follow the warnings and instructions may
result in electric shock, re and/or serious injury.
WARNING: This appliance is not intended for use by persons (including children) with reduced, physical
or mental capabilities or lack of experience or knowledge unless they have been given supervision or
instruction concerning use of the appliance by a person responsible for their safety. Children must be
supervised to ensure that they do not play with the appliance.
Save all warnings and instructions for future reference.
1) Work area safety
a) Keep work area clean and well lit. Cluttered or dark areas invite accidents.
b) Do not operate tools in explosive atmospheres, such as in the presence of ammable liquids, gases
or dust.
c) Keep children and bystanders away while operating a powered tool. Distractions can cause you to lose
control.
2) Personal safety
a) Stay alert, watch what you are doing and use common sense when operating a powered tool. Do
not use a powered tool while you are tired or under the inuence of drugs, alcohol or medication. A
moment of inattention while operating a powered tool may result in serious personal injury.
b) Use personal protective equipment. Always wear eye protection. Protective equipment such as dust
mask, non-skid safety shoes, hard hat, or hearing protection used for appropriate conditions will reduce
personal injuries.
c) Prevent unintentional starting. Ensure the switch is in the off-position when not operating the tool and
make use of other safety features which prevent unintentional starting
d) Remove any adjusting key or wrench before turning the powered tool on. A wrench or a key left
attached to a rotating part of the tool may result in personal injury.
e) Do not overreach. Keep proper footing and balance at all times. This enables better control of the tool
in unexpected situations.
f) Dress properly. Do not wear loose clothing or jewelry. Keep your hair, clothing and gloves away
from moving parts. Loose clothes, jewelry or long hair can be caught in moving parts.
g) If devices are provided for the connection of dust extraction and collection facilities, ensure these
are connected and properly used. Use of dust collection can reduce dust-related hazards.
WARNING: User exposure to tool vibration can result in loss of sense of touch, numbness, tingling and reduced
ability to grip. Long term exposure can lead to a chronic condition. If necessary limit the length of time exposed
to vibration. Use the gures provided in the specication relating to vibration if provided to calculate the duration
and frequency of operating the tool. The 2002/44/EC directive relating to vibration in the workplace may provide
useful information even for domestic use of tools. In the rst instance of feeling uncomfortable due to vibration
STOP using the tool immediately.
WARNING: Always wear ear protection where the sound level exceeds 85dB(A) and limit the time of exposure
if necessary. If sound levels are uncomfortable even with ear protection stop using the tool immediately and
check the ear protection is correctly tted and provides the right level of sound attenuation for the level of sound
produced by your tool.
3) Tool use and care
a) Maintain tools. Check for misalignment or binding of moving parts, breakage of parts and any other
condition that may affect the tool’s operation. If damaged, have the tool repaired before use. Many
accidents are caused by poorly maintained tools.
b) Keep cutting tools sharp and clean. Properly maintained cutting tools with sharp cutting edges are less
likely to bind and are easier to control.
c) Use the tool’s accessories and tool bits etc. in accordance with these instructions, taking into
account the working conditions and the work to be performed. Use of the tool for operations different
from those intended could result in a hazardous situation.
4) Service
a) Have your tool serviced by a qualied repair person using only identical replacement parts. This will
ensure that the safety of the tool is maintained.
Internal Combustion Safety
Dangerous environment
• Do not use petrol tools in damp or wet conditions, or expose them to rain. Provide adequate surrounding
work space and keep area well lit
• Do not use petrol tools where there is a risk of explosion or re from combustible material,
ammable liquids, ammable gases, or dust of an explosive nature
Switch off
• Ensure that the engine has stopped before attaching any accessories to the tool
• If the tool stops unexpectedly ensure that the power is switched off and the engine is not running before
attempting to check the tool
Running-in the engine
• New tools should be used at moderate speed
• Do not maintain high engine speed until the engine is completely run-in
• The engine will not be capable of developing maximum power until the end of the running-in period
• When rst using the tool, periodically stop and check that all nuts and screws are securely fastened and
tighten them as necessary
• Do not use fuels containing methanol or ethanol, as these may cause internal damage to the fuel tank
and fuel lines
Warning
• Never leave the tool running unattended
• Never leave the machine unattended when parts are still hot
Servicing
• We recommended that your tool is serviced shortly after its rst use
• In normal use, have the tool serviced regularly
• Do not modify any of the components of this tool. To do so would invalidate your guarantee, and could
result in injury to yourself or others around you
• Always have your tool serviced at an authorized service centre
Storage
• Clean the tool completely after use
• Be careful not to damage the fuel tank, or fuel lines, when it is placed on the ground
• Ensure that the tool will not be subject to impact damage; any damage could cause the tool to become
unsafe
• Store the tool away from direct sunlight
• Ensure that fuel and oil is stored in a safe place, away from heat, direct sunlight or any source of ignition
• Whenever the machine is likely to be out of use for an extended period of time, proceed as follows:
• Empty the fuel tank completely
• Protect all metal engine parts from corrosion by coating them with oil
• Remove the spark plug, put a few drops of oil into the cylinder and then pull the recoil starter 2 to 3
times in order to distribute the oil evenly

• Replace the spark plug
• Never store the machine where children may gain access to it

FATAL INJURY, NEVER RUN THE MACHINE INDOORS, OR IN POORLY VENTILATED AREAS. ENSURE
PROPER VENTILATION WHEN WORKING IN TRENCHES OR OTHER CONFINED SPACES.
Chain Saw Safety
WARNING: Chainsaws are potentially dangerous machines which can cause major injury if used by untrained
people
• DO NOT allow children or pets near the work area
• Check that other people are a safe distance away from your work area before starting to cut. When tree
felling, all other people should be a minimum distance equal to twice the height of the tree away
• DO NOT work alone. Always ensure that there is someone nearby to help in an emergency
• DO NOT use this product in wet conditions. Ensure that material to be cut is dry before starting work
• Use of this tool requires the use of gloves, eye/face protection, dust mask, ear defenders, hard hat, and
sturdy clothing
• ALWAYS carry the chainsaw by its front handle, with the blade pointing backwards, away from your body
• When felling trees, always plan an escape route before cutting. Ensure that there is a clear space behind
you, at least twice as far as the tree is tall. The escape route should be clear of all obstructions
• ALWAYS keep the cutting blade properly lubricated; keep covered when not in use
• ALWAYS check the work area for hidden objects, fencing, cables etc.
• Ensure that material to be cut does not contain any foreign objects. Only use this chainsaw to cut wood. Be
sure that it is safe to cut before beginning a job
• NEVER pass arms or legs below the blade when cutting. Always stand back from the cutting area, in a
stable position
• Be prepared for the possibility of kickback. Under some circumstances, if used incorrectly, the chainsaw
may be thrown back towards the user. Correct use and maintenance will signicantly reduce the chance of
kickback occurring
• If the chainsaw jams, switch off immediately. Allow the motor to come to a complete stop before attempting
to clear jammed material
• Be aware that some wood dust is toxic. This is especially likely if you are cutting wood treaded with stains,
or preservatives. If you are unsure of what treatments your wood may have had, do not cut
• Assess your own physical condition. Using a chainsaw, even a smaller model, is physically demanding.
Do not start a job unless you are condent that you are t and strong enough to complete it. Never use a
chainsaw when tired, unwell, or under the inuence of any kind of drugs or alcohol
Kickback Prevention and Safety Precautions
WARNING: Chainsaw operators
• Be aware of kickback. Kickback may occur when the moving saw chain near the upper quadrant of the
guide bar nose comes into contact with a solid object, or is pinched. The reaction of the chain’s cutting force
causes a rotational force on the chainsaw, in the direction opposite to the chain movement. This may lead
to the bar being ung up and back, in an uncontrolled arc, mainly in the plane of the guide bar. Under some
cutting circumstances the guide bar moves towards the operator, who, as a result, may suffer severe or
fatal injury.
• Certain cutting actions may inuence kickback. Kickback may occur when the nose of the guide bar
is unexpectedly pinched, unintentionally comes into contact with solid materials inside the wood, or is
incorrectly used to begin a plunge cut. Kickback may also occur during tree limbing work. The greater the
force of the kickback, the more difcult it is for the operator to control the chainsaw.
• Many factors inuence the occurrence and intensity of a kickback, including saw chain speed, the speed of
the impact with the object, the angle of contact, chain condition etc. The type of guide bar and saw chain
used is another major factor in the occurrence and intensity of kickback reactions.
• Maintain a rm grip, with thumbs and ngers encircling the chain saw handles, with both hands on the saw
and position your body and arm to allow you to resist kickback forces. Kickback forces can be controlled by
the operator, if proper precautions are taken. Do not let go of the chain saw.
• Do not overreach and do not cut above shoulder height. This helps prevent unintended tip contact and
enables better control of the chain saw in unexpected situations.
• Only use replacement bars and chains specied by the manufacturer. Incorrect replacement bars and
chains may cause chain breakage and/or kickback.
WARNING: Use of guide bar/chain combinations not listed in ‘Specication’, or other third-party accessories,
may increase kickback forces and the risk of kickback injuries. Only the chain/guide bar combinations listed in
this manual have been designed to comply with ANSI B 175.1-1991, the chainsaw kickback standard. Non-listed
bar/chain combinations may not be fully compatible with the safety features tted to this chainsaw, and reduce
their efciency.
WARNING: A dull or wrongly sharpened saw chain may lead to an increased risk of kickback. Improper
adjustment of the depth gauges increases the energy of a potential kickback. ALWAYS cut with a properly
sharpened saw chain.
WARNING: An improperly maintained chain brake may increase the time needed to stop the chain after the
brake mechanism was triggered, or may not activate the brake at all.
WARNING: Never operate your chainsaw without the front hand guard in place. When kickback occurs, this
guard protects your left hand and other body parts. Removal of the hand guard will also render the chain brake
inoperable.
Follow these steps to avoid kickback, preventing injury:
1. Hold the chainsaw rmly with both hands and maintain a secure grip at all times
2. ALWAYS stand to the side of the cutting path
3. At all times, be aware of where the tip of the guide bar is located
4. NEVER let the tip of the guide bar come into contact with any object
5. DO NOT use the tip of the guide bar for cutting
6. Stay alert for shifting of the wood and other forces that may cause the cut to close, pinching the saw chain
and guide bar
7. Take extreme care when cutting small, tough branches, as those may easily get caught in the saw chain
8. DO NOT overreach, and NEVER cut above shoulder height
9. ALWAYS wait until the saw chain has reached its maximum cutting speed, before making contact with the
wood
10. ONLY ever cut one log at a time
11. Be extremely careful when you have to re-enter a previously made cut
12. NEVER attempt to perform a plunge cut, if you are inexperienced or have not received formal chainsaw
training
13. Maintain the saw chain according to manufacturer instructions. Cut with a correctly sharpened, properly
tensioned saw chain at all times
Hedge Trimmer Safety
• ALWAYS use adequate protective equipment, including cut-resistant gloves, eye protection, solid shoes and
cut-resistant trousers when working with this hedge trimmer
• DO NOT use the hedge trimmer in the rain or in damp conditions
• Keep hands and ngers well away from the blades
• Always hold the hedge trimmer securely with both hands on the handles when working with the device
• Switch the hedge trimmer off and ensure that the ignition lead is disconnected from the spark plug before
cleaning, removing obstructions or carrying out maintenance. DO NOT attempt to free a jammed blade
before the ignition supply has been disconnected
• Switch the hedge trimmer off and ensure that the ignition lead is disconnected from the spark plug if work is
interrupted. If you are interrupted when operating the trimmer, complete the process and switch off before
turning your attention away from the hedge trimmer
• This hedge trimmer has been designed to cut soft, new growth and should NOT be used on thick branches,
hard wood or for other forms of cutting
• This product requires the use of two hands to ensure safe operation
• Never allow untrained users or children to use the hedge trimmer
• Inspect the area to be cut before starting. Remove any objects or debris that could be thrown, jammed or
become entangled in the blades
• Adopt a stable stance always keeping the hedge trimmer in front of your body
• Grip the front handle bar switch with one hand. With the other hand grip the rear handle and with your
ngers squeeze the trigger switch
• Allow the cutting blades to reach full speed before commencing the cut
• When cutting always move in a forward direction. Never move backwards while operating the hedge
trimmer in case you could fall over unseen obstacles
• Never work towards people or solid objects such as walls, trees or vehicles etc.
• If the blade stalls during cutting, stop the hedge trimmer immediately and disconnect the ignition lead before
investigating the cause. Remove any jammed debris from the blades and examine them for damage before
re-commencing cutting. Always replace any damaged blades.

• Always check the work area for hidden objects, fencing, cables etc. Ensure that material to be cut does not
contain any objects. Be sure that it is safe to cut before starting the job
• Always wear appropriate safety equipment. Use of this tool requires gloves, eye or face protection, dust
mask, ear defenders, hard hat, and sturdy clothing
• Assess your own physical condition. Using a brush cutter, even a smaller model, is physically demanding.
Do not start a job unless you are condent that you are t and strong enough to complete it. Never use a
brush cutter when tired, unwell, or under the inuence of any kind of drugs or alcohol

• Walk slowly when carrying this tool. Freshly cut grass or brush is slippery, and may conceal trip hazards
• Only use correct nylon trimmer line or specialist blades. Attempting to use any other kind of cutting
accessory is highly dangerous
• Never pass arms or legs near to the blade when cutting. Always stand in a stable position, well back from
the cutting area
• If the brush cutter jams, switch off immediately. Allow the engine to completely stop before attempting to
clear jammed material

Intended Use
Petrol-powered multi-function garden tool which works as either a hedge trimmer, pruner, line trimmer or brush
cutter depending on which head is installed. Easy quick change heads make this a versatile machine for
domestic garden use. Includes a shoulder strap for easy mobility and use.
Unpacking Your Tool
Carefully unpack and inspect your new tool. Familiarise yourself with all its features and functions
Ensure that all parts of the tool are present and in good condition. If any parts are missing or damaged,
have such parts replaced before attempting to use this tool
Before Use
WARNING: Ensure the ignition lead is disconnected before attaching or changing any accessories, or making
any adjustments, to prevent accidental starting.
Pole assembly
1. Position the upper portion of the tool containing the engine on a secure at surface, along with the desired
head assembly
2. Align the lower shaft of the head assembly with the Upper Shaft (8), and position the locating hole (Image
A) of the lower shaft so it is pointing upwards
3. Slide the lower shaft into the Shaft Connector (6) ensuring that the locating hole is aligned with the Shaft
Locating Lever (7). Allow the Shaft Locating Lever to lock the lower shaft into place (Image B)
4. Tighten the Shaft Locking Knob to secure the head assembly to the upper portion of the tool (Image C)
Brush cutter head assembly
WARNING: ALWAYS wear cut-proof gloves when handling the Brush Cutter Blade (27).
Note: The threaded output shaft of the Cutting Head Assembly (3) is left hand thread.
1. Place the Brush Trimmer Shaft (16) assembly on a secure, at surface with the Cutting Head Assembly (3)
directed upwards
2. Lock the rotating head into place by inserting the Small Hex Key (31) into the opening in the Cutting Head
Assembly (Image D). Using the Spark Plug Combi Tool (35), unscrew and remove the 19mm nut from the
Cutting Head Assembly
3. Remove the locking washer and place the Brush Cutter Blade on to the locating washer (Image E)
4. Reinstall the locking washer, ensuring the teeth align with the grooves on the shaft, and tighten down the
19mm nut securely (Image F)
Line trimmer head assembly
Note: The threaded output shaft of the Cutting Head Assembly (3) is left hand thread.
1. Follow Steps ‘1-2’ under ‘Brush cutter head assembly’
2. Remove the locking washer and screw the Bump Feed Spool Head (28) directly onto the threaded shaft
Brush trimmer guard installation
1. Remove the two hex screws that are pre-installed into the Brush Trimmer Guard (26)
2. Align the two threaded holes in the Brush Trimmer with the mounting holes in the Guard Bracket (4)
3. Use the Small Hex Key (31) to tighten the two hex screws removed in ‘step 1’ into the Brush Trimmer
Guard, securing its position (Image G)
Guide bar and chain assembly
WARNING: ALWAYS wear cut-proof gloves when assembling or carrying out any maintenance to the chainsaw.
1. Place the chainsaw head assembly on a secure at surface along with the Guide Bar (24) and Saw Chain
(25)
2. Remove the Guide Bar Securing Nut using the Spanner (32) provided, then remove the Sprocket Cover (2)
3. Install the Guide Bar on to the chainsaw head, ensuring the Tensioning Lug (45) locates in the Guide Bar’s
locating hole (Image H)
4. Install the Saw Chain into the groove on the Guide Bar and around the Sprocket, ensuring the Saw Chain is
the correct orientation
Note: To ensure correct orientation of the Saw Chain, place the chain saw head in the upright position (with the
Chain Oil Reservoir Cap (50) directed upwards). The Saw Chain direction marking should be upright. Install
chain in accordance with (Fig. I).
Note: The Guide Bar Securing Nut may have to be installed loosely whilst installing the Saw Chain, to help
secure the Guide Bar in place.
5. Reinstall the Sprocket Cover and fasten the Guide Bar Securing Nut loosely
6. Tension the Saw Chain by turning the Tensioning Screw (46) with the Multi Screwdriver (34). Clockwise
tensions the chain; anti-clockwise loosens the chain. Tighten until the Saw Chain sits snug to the bottom of
the Guide Bar
7. Tighten the Guide Bar Securing Nut Securely
Note: A new saw chain will expand when rst used. Check and readjust the chain tension frequently, as a
loose chain can easily derail, and incorrect chain tension leads to premature wear, damage and encourages
dangerous kickback.
Front handle installation
WARNING: Do not use this tool without the Front Handle (30).
1. Undo the 4 hex screws located on the Front Handle using the Large Hex Key (33) (Image I)
2. Detach the clamp/handle from beneath the Front Handle
3. Position the clamp/handle beneath the Rubber Grip (9), ensuring the lip ts into the recess of the Rubber
Grip (Image J)
4. Install the top half of the handle and fasten down securely with the four hex screws
Preparing 2-stroke mix
WARNING: ALWAYS use dedicated fully synthetic 2-stroke oil. DO NOT use regular engine oil for 2-stroke mix.
1. Use the supplied 2-stroke Fuel Mixing Bottle (22) to measure the required amount of oil - see mixing chart

Filling with fuel
WARNING: Danger of re and burn injuries. Take extra care when fuelling this machine.
WARNING: NEVER ll with fuel whilst the engine is running. Switch off the engine and wait until it has cooled
before refuelling.
WARNING: ONLY refuel the hedge trimmer outdoors, in well-ventilated areas.
WARNING: ALWAYS open the fuel tank carefully to allow potential pressure build-up inside the tank to release
slowly. Never open the fuel tank while the engine is running.
• Always use extreme care when handling fuel. Fuel is highly ammable
• Never attempt to fuel the hedge trimmer if the fuel system components are damaged or are leaking
• Never attempt to refuel the engine while it is running or still warm; allow it to cool before fuelling
• Never smoke or light res near the hedge trimmer or fuels
• Always transport and store fuels in an approved container
• Never place ammable material close to the engine exhaust
• Do not use petrol which contains ethanol or methanol as it may damage the fuel lines and other engine
parts
• Mix only enough fuel for immediate needs. If fuel must be stored longer than 30 days, it should rst be
treated with a stabiliser or similar product
1. Premix the fuel in a suitable 2-stroke fuel mixing bottle, following the guidelines under ‘Preparing 2-stroke
mix’
2. Place the unit on a secure, at surface and wipe away any debris from around the Fuel Cap (37)
3. Unscrew the Fuel Cap and pour the mixture into the tank with the aid of a funnel
Note: Take care not to spill any of the fuel mixture. If this happens, wipe the spill with a clean rag.

Filling with chain oil
WARNING: Be careful not to spill any oil. Thoroughly clean away any spilled chain oil, even if bio-degradable
chain oil is used. Be aware of slipping hazards.
1. Clean the area around the Chain Oil Reservoir Cap (50), and wipe away all debris from the area
2. Open the Chain Oil Reservoir Cap by turning it anticlockwise
3. Fill with an appropriate chain lubricant. DO NOT overll
4. Immediately ret the Chain Oil Reservoir cap, and close by turning it clockwise until hand tight and sealed
Note: If chain oil delivery cannot be increased through adjustment, thoroughly clean the Guide Bar (24) and its
oil port, and check for damage.
Checking the chain tension
WARNING: ALWAYS wear cut-proof gloves when handling the Saw Chain (25).
• When properly tensioned, the Saw Chain should sit loosely but snug inside the Guide Bar (24)
• The chain should be tight enough so that the drive links stay engaged in the Guide Bar when pulling on the
top of the chain (Fig. II). There must be no sag at the bottom of the Guide Bar
• If the Saw Chain sags, or if drive links can be pulled out of the Guide Bar, adjust the chain tension as
outlined in ‘Adjusting chain tension’ in the ‘Maintenance’ section of this manual
WARNING: Saw Chains can also be over-tightened. Tightening the Saw Chain too tightly risks rupture during
operation. There should be some play in the Saw Chain; but not enough for the drive links to leave the Guide
Bar. The chain must ALWAYS be able to move freely and easily on the Guide Bar.
Attaching the shoulder strap
WARNING: Do not use this tool without the Shoulder Strap (29).
• Attach the Shoulder Strap to the Shoulder Strap Mounting Hole (10) located just in front of the Ignition
Switch (11)
• Adjust the Shoulder Strap so the head of the tool is evenly balanced, and hovers just above the ground
when in use
Operation
WARNING: ALWAYS wear eye protection, adequate respiratory and hearing protection, as well as suitable
gloves, when working with this tool.
WARNING: Immediately switch off the engine in case of excessive engine noise or vibration, development of
smoke or smells (other than engine exhaust), or if the tool operates sluggishly or at reduced performance.
WARNING: The cutting head will continue to move for a few seconds after the engine has stopped.
Running in the engine
Note: During run-in and cold starts in colder climates, it may be necessary to change the fuel/oil ratio to 25:1.
• During the rst ve hours of use, run the engine at a moderate speed
• The engine will reach its maximum power output at the end of the run-in period
Switching on and off
1. Press the Ignition Switch (11) forwards into the ‘I’ position
2. If the engine is being started from cold, move the Choke Lever (39) into the ‘closed’ position before starting

3. Press the Primer Bulb (38), roughly six times, until the bulb is lled with fuel
4. Pull the Recoil Starter (15) two or three times until the engine begins to start
Note: It may be required to pull the Recoil Starter more; depending on the ambient temperature and the fuel
status. If pulling the recoil starter over six times, move the Choke Lever into the middle position to prevent
ooding the engine.
5. Move the Choke Lever into the ‘open’ position (Image L)
6. Allow the engine to run at idle for ten seconds to allow the engine to warm up
• To switch the engine off, move the Ignition Switch into the ‘STOP’ position
• To operate the tool, squeeze the Trigger Lock (12) to release the Throttle Trigger (14) (Image M)
• Squeeze the Throttle Trigger to accelerate the engine
Brush cutter operation
• Operate alone without assistance. Do not allow anyone within a 15 metre radius of the operator and tool
• Always hold the tool rmly with both hands; the left hand should be rmly holding the Front Handle (30),
whilst the right hand should be holding the Rear Handle (13) to operate the Throttle Trigger (14)
• Cut from right to left, moving your body in the same direction. The blade rotates anti-clockwise.
WARNING: Cutting from left to right may cause looseness of a blade bolt, or dangerous kickback when the
blade hits stones, trees or other objects unintentionally
• Avoid stones and stumps, which may cause kickback. Should an object be hit accidentally, stop the engine
and check for damage
• Correct cutting portion of the blade is 2/3 from the top of the vegetation
• Always use a well-sharpened Brush Cutter Blade (27). NOTE: that the Brush Cutter Blade must remain
balanced after sharpening
• Ensure rm footing at all times
• Ensure the engine is off and the Ignition Switch (11) is in the ‘STOP’ position before attempting to remove
foreign objects wound around the cutter housing
• Scything:
• Guide the Brush Cutter Blade (27) like a scythe to cut long growth, felted grass and brushwood. Do not
use the Brush Cutter Blade for stronger vegetation or wood
• Scalping:
• Hold the Brush Cutter Head at an angle of 30° to cut vegetation down to the ground
WARNING: Scalping may present greater danger of injury to the operator and any persons in the vicinity due to
objects being propelled from the ground by the blade.
WARNING: Shrubs and trees may jam the cutting blade. Cut through appropriate undergrowth and brushwood
in stages and from different sides to prevent the blade becoming stuck. If the cutting blade does get stuck, stop
the engine immediately and switch the Ignition Switch to the ‘STOP’ position before attempting to clear the
blade. The blade may be hot; allow the blade to cool before touching.
Line trimmer operation
• The trimmer is suitable for trimming high grass and weeds
• Examine the territory and determine the desired cutting height
• Always hold the tool rmly with both hands; the left hand should be rmly holding the Front Handle (30),
whilst the right hand should be holding the Rear Handle (13) to operate the Throttle Trigger (14)
• Swing the trimmer slowly in sickle-like movements from side to side
• Always hold the cutting head parallel to the ground
• Operate alone without assistance. Do not allow anyone within a 15 metre radius of the operator
• Balance the line trimmer to the right in a natural position whilst holding it with the handle grips
• Always maintain rm footing when using the trimmer
• Trim longer grass in stages for best results. Cutting longer grass will increase the possibility of foreign
objects becoming stuck in the Bump Feed Spool Head (28)
• Ensure the engine is off and the Ignition Switch (11) is in the ‘STOP’ position before attempting to remove
foreign objects wound around the cutter housing
• To use the bump feed mechanism:
• To advance the line, bump the base of the spool assembly onto a hard surface whilst maintaining a
moderate engine speed.
WARNING: Excessive line will be cut and projected outwards. When excessive line has been advanced, the
blade located on the Brush Trimmer Guard (26) will trim the line to the right length.
Note: If the line fails to advance when the Bump Feed Spool Head is bumped, switch the engine off and make
sure the Ignition Switch is in the ‘STOP’ position before inspecting the head.

Hedge trimmer operation
WARNING: This hedge trimmer is designed for the trimming of hedges, bushes and shrubs. If it is used for any
other purpose not detailed in this manual, there may be a risk of damage to the hedge trimmer or serious injury
to the user.
Note: If this is the rst time using the hedge trimmer attachment, remove the protective cover from the Hedge
Trimmer Blade (20).
• Adjusting the trimmer head angle:
1. Attach the Hedge Trimmer Shaft (21) to the Upper Shaft (8) by following the instructions under ‘Pole
assembly’
2. To adjust the angle of the Hedge Trimmer Blade (20), hold the Adjustment Handle (19) and press the Angle
Position Lever (18) (Image N)
3. Use the Adjustment Handle to alter the angle of the Blade, then release the Angle Position Lever to lock the
Blade into place
• Inspect the area to be cut before starting. Remove any objects or debris that could be thrown, jammed or
become entangled in the blades
• Always hold the tool rmly with both hands. The left hand should be rmly holding the Front Handle (30),
whilst the right hand should be holding the Rear Handle (13) to operate the Throttle Trigger (14)
• Allow the cutting blades to reach full speed before commencing the cut
• When cutting, always move in a forward direction - never backwards
• Never work towards bystanders or solid objects such as walls, trees or vehicles
• If during cutting the blade stalls, stop the hedge trimmer immediately by switching the Ignition Switch (11) to
‘STOP’ before investigating the cause
• Remove any jammed debris from the blades and examine them for any damage before recommencing
cutting. Always replace damaged blades.
• The hedge trimmer can be used for trimming soft and new growth on hedges, shrubs and bushes.
• When cutting:
• Assume a secure position, using two hands to hold the trimmer
• Trim both sides of the hedge, starting at the bottom
• Pass the blade lightly through the surface of the hedge. Do not attempt to cut too deep
• Trim the top of the hedge
• For older hedges that require cutting back substantially, use the pruner attachment to cut the thicker
branches and then nish the job with the hedge trimmer
WARNING: Do not let the blade make contact with fencing wire or any other object that could cause damage.
Pruner operation
WARNING: The pruner attachment is not used for felling trees - only domestic pruning/limbing tasks.
WARNING: Never use any type of elevated platform such as ladders or steps to perform pruning tasks. Doing so
will greatly increase the possibility of balance loss and user injury.
• Thoroughly check the area to be cut; NEVER operate the pruner near power lines or other such cables
• Inspect the limb to be cut for any hidden foreign objects such as nails and other dense materials
• Operate alone without assistance. Do not allow anyone within a 15 metre radius of the operator
• Maintain rm footing when operating the pruner
• Always hold the tool rmly with both hands. The left hand should be rmly holding the Front Handle (30),
whilst the right hand should be holding the Rear Handle (13) to operate the Throttle Trigger (14)
• Allow the saw chain to reach full speed before performing the cut
• Always maintain a stable cutting angle of not more than 60° from the horizontal ground plane (Fig. III)
• Never stand directly beneath the limb that is being pruned; debris may fall differently than expected
• Never use the end of the Guide Bar (24) to perform a cut; doing so will greatly increase the possibility of
kickback
• Do not cut the branch ush against the main limb; doing so will strip back the bark
• Allow the pruner to work through the branch with minimal pressure applied. Do not force or apply excessive
force to try to accelerate the cut
• Cutting thin branches: Thin branches (less than 60mm dia.) may be cut in a single pass, but it is
recommended to cut the branch in increments starting from the end to prevent slivering
• Cutting thick branches: Thick branches (60-150mm dia.) should be cut in stages to control the separation of
the branch from the tree, and to prevent blade damage and possible operator injury
1. Cut the branch in an upwards direction from below, to the outside of where the branch is intended to be
nally cut, and cut no more than halfway through the branch (Fig. IV)
2. From the top, cut into the branch, to the outside of where the branch is intended to be nally cut, cutting
roughly halfway through the branch (Fig. IV)
3. Perform the nal cut through the branch close to the trunk of the tree and on the inside of the previous two
cuts (Fig. IV)
Note: Ensure the chain oil level is monitored when performing extensive cuts; the chain oil will deplete faster
when the pruner is under constant loads.

General inspection
• Regularly check that all the xing screws are tight
• Inspect the fuel tank and lines of the tool prior to each use for damage or wear. Repairs should be carried

WARNING: Maintenance not covered by this manual MUST be carried out by an authorised GMC technician.
Attempting such maintenance or repairs will void the warranty.

Cleaning the air lter
WARNING: Never run this tool without the air lter element tted, as this will lead to rapid wear of internal
components, causing permanent engine damage and shortening the service life of this tool.
1. Remove the Air Filter Cover (40) from the Air Box (41) by squeezing the sides of the Air Filter Cover and
pulling it away from the Air Box
2. Remove the air lter element from the Air Filter Cover
WARNING: DO NOT use petrol or other ammable solvents to clean the lter element as this may lead to re
or explosion.
3. Wash the air lter element thoroughly in a solution of warm water with non-foamy household detergent, or
clean with a specialised non-ammable solvent
WARNING: DO NOT wring out the element, as this could damage the sponge material.
WARNING: NEVER install a wet lter element, as water in the air intake will lead to permanent engine damage.
4. Immerse the dried lter element in clean engine oil, or alternatively, apply specialised air lter oil to the lter
element. Gently squeeze (but DO NOT wring out) to remove excess oil.
5. Reinstall the air lter element and the Air Filter Cover
Spark plug maintenance
Note: Before installing a new spark plug, ensure the gap is correctly set to 0.6 - 0.8mm. Not doing so could
cause the piston to conict with the spark plug, damaging internal components.
1. Pull off the Ignition Lead (43) to reveal the spark plug
2. Remove the spark plug using the provided Spark Plug Combi Tool (35)
3. Clean or replace the spark plug
4. When installing the spark plug, turn the plug by hand until resistance is felt, then continue to turn using the
Spark Plug Combi Tool another 1/3 of a turn
Trimmer line replacement
1. Lock the Bump Feed Spool Head (28) into place by inserting the Small Hex Key (31) into the opening in the
Cutting Head Assembly (Image D) and remove the Bump Feed Spool Head by turning it clockwise
2. Push-in the two tabs located on either side of the Bump feed Spool Head (Image O); the head will separate
into two pieces
3. Remove the spool from the centre (Image P) and wrap the new trimmer line around in the direction
illustrated on the top of the spool
4. Feed the trimmer line through the eyelets on either side of the Bump Feed Spool Head (Image Q)
5. Replace the cover, ensuring the tabs ‘click’ back into place
6. Pull both ends of the trimmer line to tension the trimmer line inside the Bump Feed Spool Head
7. Ret the Bump Feed Spool Head as instructed in ‘Line trimmer head assembly’
Adjusting chain tension
WARNING: ALWAYS wear cut-proof gloves when touching the saw chain.
1. Loosen (do not remove) the Guide Bar Securing Nut (1) using the supplied Spark Plug Combi Tool (35)
2. Use the Screwdriver (34) to adjust the Tensioning Screw (46):
• turn clockwise to increase chain tension
• turn anticlockwise to decrease chain tension
3. Tighten the Guide Bar Securing Nuts securely (12-15Nm)
4. Check chain tension as described in ‘Checking the chain tension’. Start over from step 1, should
adjustments need to be made
Cleaning
• Keep the tool clean at all times. Dirt and dust will cause internal parts to wear quickly, and shorten the
machine’s service life. Clean the body of your machine with a soft brush, or dry cloth. If available, use clean,
dry, compressed air to blow through the ventilation holes
• Clean the tool casing with a soft damp cloth using a mild detergent. Do not use alcohol, petrol or strong
cleaning agents
• Never use caustic agents to clean plastic parts

Troubleshooting
Carburettor adjustment
Note: It may be necessary to adjust the idle speed, dependant on climate, ambient temperature and elevation.
• To adjust the idle speed, turn the Idle Adjustment Screw (42) clockwise to increase the idle speed, and
anti-clockwise to decrease the idle speed
Lubrication
• Slightly lubricate all moving parts at regular intervals with a suitable spray lubricant
Storage
• Store this tool carefully in a secure, dry place out of the reach of children
Preparation for long-term storage
• Whenever the hedge trimmer is out of use for an extended period of time, proceed as follows:
1. Carry out an overall clean and a thorough check
2. Clean the air lter element
3. Drain the fuel system
4. Remove the spark plug; ll approximately one spoonful of 2-stroke oil into the cylinder through the spark
plug hole, and pull the Recoil Starter (15) gently two to three times to distribute the oil evenly. Replace the
Spark Plug
5. Slowly pull the Recoil Starter just until resistance is felt. At this point, the piston is coming up on its
compression stroke, and both the intake and exhaust valves are closed. Storing the engine in this position
will help prevent internal corrosion
6. Protect all metal parts from corrosion by coating them with oil or a machinery preservative
Storing fuel
• Store 2-stroke mix ONLY in containers specically designed for fuel storage
• Store fuel in a dark place with a constant, low temperature
Disposal
Always adhere to national regulations when disposing of power tools that are no longer functional and are not
viable for repair.
• Tools powered by petrol-based internal combustion engines must not be disposed of with household
waste. Such tools should be taken to your local recycling centre and disposed of according to current
environmental protection requirements in your country.
• Petrol, oil and petrol-oil-mixtures are hazardous waste and have to be treated as such. Oil and fuel must

Met het oog op onze aanhoudende productontwikkeling kunnen de specicaties van GMC producten zonder
voorafgaande kennisgeving worden gewijzigd.
WAARSCHUWING: Bij een geluidsintensiteit van 85 dB(A) of hoger is het dragen van gehoorbescherming
en het limiteren van de blootstellingstijd vereist. Bij oncomfortabel hoge geluidsniveaus, zelfs met het dragen
van gehoorbescherming, stopt u het gebruik van de machine onmiddellijk. Controleer de pasvorm en het
geluiddempingsniveau van de bescherming.
WAARSCHUWING: Blootstelling aan trilling resulteert mogelijk in gevoelloosheid, tinteling en een vermindert
gripvermogen. Langdurige blootstelling kan leiden tot chronische condities. Limiteer de blootstellingsduur en
draag anti-vibratie handschoenen. Vibratie heeft een grotere invloed op handen met een temperatuur lager dan
een normale, comfortabele temperatuur. Maak gebruik van de informatie in de specicaties voor het bereken
van de gebruiksduur en frequentie van de machine.
Geluid- en trillingsniveaus in de specicatie zijn vastgesteld volgens EN60745 of een gelijksoortige
internationale norm. De waarden gelden voor een normaal gebruik in normale werkomstandigheden. Een slecht
onderhouden, onjuist samengestelde of onjuist gebruikte machine produceert mogelijk hogere geluids- en
trillingsniveaus. www.osha.europa.eu biedt informatie met betrekking tot geluids- en trillingsniveaus op de
werkplek wat mogelijk nuttig is voor regelmatige gebruikers van machines.
Algemene veiligheid
WAARSCHUWING Lees alle bediening- en veiligheidsvoorschriften. Het niet opvolgen van alle voorschriften
die hieronder vermeld staan, kan resulteren in een elektrische schok, brand en/of ernstig letsel.
WAARSCHUWING: De machine is niet geschikt voor gebruik door personen met een verminderde mentale
of fysieke gesteldheid of een gebrek aan ervaring, tenzij de persoon wordt begeleid of geïnstrueerd door een
persoon verantwoordelijk voor de veiligheid. Kinderen mogen niet met de machine spelen
Bewaar deze voorschriften voor toekomstig gebruik.
1) Veiligheid in de werkruimte
a) Houd de werkruimte schoon en zorg voor een goede verlichting. Rommelige en donkere ruimtes leiden
vaak tot ongelukken.
b) Gebruik het gereedschap niet in explosieve atmosferen, als in de aanwezigheid van vlam bare
vloeistoffen, gassen en stof.
c) Houd kinderen en omstanders uit de buurt wanneer u elektrisch gereedschap bedient. Door aeiding
kunt u de controle over het gereedschap verliezen.
2) Persoonlijke veiligheid
a) Blijf alert en gebruik uw gezonde verstand wanneer u elektrisch gereedschap bedient. Gebruik het
elektrisch gereedschap niet wanneer u vermoeid bent of onder invloed bent van drugs, alcohol of
medicijnen. Onoplettendheid tijdens het bedienen van elektrisch gereedschap kan leiden tot ernstig letsel.
b) Maak gebruik van persoonlijke bescherming. Draag altijd een veiligheidsbril. Passende bescherming
voor de omstandigheden, zoals een stofmasker, niet-slippende veiligheidsschoenen een helm of
gehoorbescherming, vermindert het risico op persoonlijk letsel.
c) Voorkom onopzettelijk starten. Zorg ervoor dat de schakelaar in de uit-stand staat wanneer het
gereedschap niet gebruikt wordt en maak gebruik van andere voorzorgsmaatregelen om onopzettelijk
starten te voorkomen
d) Verwijder alle stel- of moersleutels voordat u het elektrische gereedschap inschakelt. Een moer- of
stelsleutel die zich op een draaiend onderdeel van het elektrische gereedschap bevindt, kan leiden tot
letsel.
e) Reik niet te ver. Blijf altijd stevig en in balans staan. Zo houdt u meer controle over het elektrische
gereedschap in onverwachte situaties.
f) Draag geschikte kleding. Draag geen loshangende kleding of sieraden. Houd haren, kleding en
handschoenen uit de buurt van bewegende delen. Loshangende kleding, sieraden en los hangende
haren kunnen vast komen te zitten in bewegende delen.
g) Als er onderdelen voor stofafvoer- en stofverzameling worden meegeleverd, sluit deze dan aan en
gebruik deze op de juiste wijze. Het gebruik van deze onderdelen kan het risico op stof gerelateerde
ongelukken verminderen.
WAARSCHUWING: Bloodstelling aan trilling kan leiden tot gevoelloosheid, tintelen en verminderde grip
bekwaamheid. Op de lange termijn kan het leiden tot chronische condities. Limiteer de lengte van blootstelling
aan trilling. Gebruik de gegevens in de specicaties van het gereedschap om de gebruiksduur en –frequentie
te berekenen. De 2002/44-EEG richtlijn met betrekking tot trilling in de werkruimte bevat mogelijk bruikbare
informatie. Bij een oncomfortabel gebruik ten gevolge van trilling stopt u onmiddellijk met het gebruik van het
gereedschap
WAARSCHUWING: Wanneer het geluidsniveau boven de 85 dB(A) reikt is het dragen van gehoorbescherming
een must. Wanneer geluidsniveaus, zelfs tijdens het dragen van gehoorbescherming, oncomfortabel hoog zijn,
stop dan met het gebruiken van het gereedschap en controleer of het juiste dempingsniveau gegeven wordt
3) Gebruik en verzorging
a) Het onderhouden van gereedschap. Controleer op een verkeerde uitlijning of binden van
bewegende onderdelen, beschadiging aan onderdelen en andere condities wat het gebruik
beïnvloed. In geval van beschadiging, vervangt u het gereedschap onmiddellijk. Vele ongelukken
worden veroorzaakt door slecht onderhouden gereedschap
b) Houd snijwerktuigen scherp en schoon. Goed onderhouden snijwerktuigen met scherpe messen slaan
minder snel vast en zijn gemakkelijker te bedienen.
c) Gebruik de accessoires in overeenstemming met deze instructies, waarbij rekening gehouden wordt
met de werkomstandigheden en het uit te voeren werk. Het gebruik van het gereedschap voor taken,
anders dan waarvoor het bestemd is, kan resulteren in gevaarlijke situaties
4) Onderhoud
a) Laat uw gereedschap onderhouden door een gekwaliceerde vakman en gebruik alleen identieke
vervangstukken.

Gebruik benzinegereedschap niet in vochtige of natte omstandigheden, en stel het niet bloot aan regen. Zorg
voor voldoende werkruimte en verlichting. Gebruik benzinegereedschap niet op plaatsen met ontplofngs- of
brandgevaar omwille van brandbaar materiaal, vloeistoffen, gassen of stof van explosieve aard.
Uitschakelen
Zorg ervoor dat de motor is uitgeschakeld voordat u accessoires op het gereedschap bevestigd. Als het
gereedschap onverwacht stopt, wacht dan tot de motor gestopt is met draaien voordat u het gereedschap
inspecteert.
Inlopen van de motor
Laat de motor wanneer het gereedschap nieuw is op een matig toerental draaien.
Laat de motor pas op volle toeren draaien als hij volledig is ingelopen.
De motor zal pas aan het eind van de inloopperiode op maximaal vermogen lopen.
Wanneer u het gereedschap voor het eerst gebruikt, controleer dan of alle bouten en moeren goed zijn
aangedraaid en draai ze zo nodig alsnog aan.
Gebruik geen methanol of ethanol bevattende brandstoffen omdat deze de brandstoftank en de
brandstoeidingen intern kan beschadigen.

Onderhoud
Wij raden aan om het gereedschap kort na het eerste gebruik een onderhoudsbeurt te laten geven.
Zorg bij normaal gebruik regelmatig voor een onderhoudsbeurt.
Modiceer de onderdelen van dit gereedschap niet. Daarmee vervalt niet alleen de garantie maar het kan
tevens leiden tot letsel aan uzelf of mensen om u heen.
Onderhoud moet altijd worden uitgevoerd door een bevoegd persoon.
