DANGER
Indicates a hazardous situation which, if
not avoided, will result in death or serious
personal injury.
WARNING
Indicates a hazardous situation which, if
not avoided, could result in death or seri-
ous personal injury.
CAUTION
Indicates a hazardous situation which, if
not avoided, could result in minor or mod-
erate personal injury.
The hazard statements are structured in the following
way:

1.2 Notes
The symbols and notes below may appear in
Grundfos installation and operating instructions,
safety instructions and service instructions.
Observe these instructions for explosion-
proof products.
A blue or grey circle with a white graphical
symbol indicates that an action must be
taken.
A red or grey circle with a diagonal bar,
possibly with a black graphical symbol, in-
dicates that an action must not be taken or
must be stopped.
If these instructions are not observed, it
may result in malfunction or damage to the
equipment.
Tips and advice that make the work easier.

2. Product introduction
2.1 Product description
PowerAdapt is a power blending solution that uses
solar power as primary source and tops up the
missing power with the connected AC power supply
to create a constant power output. It enables a
continuous operation experience and provides the
option to operate even if the AC power source is
missing.

2.2 Variants
PowerAdapt works only with the RSI connected
externally. PowerAdapt is available in 3 variants:
• PowerAdapt, 16 A
• PowerAdapt, 31 A
• PowerAdapt, 72 A.

2.2.1 MP 204 control unit
MP 204 protects RSI by disconnecting the AC power
source when one of the trip limits is reached.
Trip conditions:
• temperature
• missing phase
• overvoltage
• undervoltage.
Sensor inputs and outputs:
• Pt100 or Pt1000 sensor.
2.2.2 RSI
Grundfos Renewable Solar Inverter (RSI) is an off-
grid solar inverter converting the DC power output
from the solar panel to AC power supply for pump
operation. RSI can be used in both new and existing
systems as long as the motor specifications are
compatible and are suitable for use with a variable
frequency drive. The following Grundfos pump types
can be used in applications with RSI:
• CR
• SP
• NB, NK
• MTR
• CM
• TP.
2.3 Intended use
Grundfos PowerAdapt is a power blending solution
that ensures a constant power output by
supplementing solar power with AC electricity from an
additional source to the necessary extent. The
solution allows solar power to be the main source of
energy while benefiting of a stable operation.

3. Receiving the product
3.1 Inspecting the product
Before installing the product, perform the following:
1. Check that the product corresponds to the order.
2. Check that the visible parts are not damaged.
3. If parts are damaged or missing, contact the local
Grundfos sales company immediately.
4. Re-tighten the screws as they may become loose
during transport.

3.2 Scope of delivery
These installation and operating instructions apply to
Grundfos PowerAdapt.
The following documents are supplied with this
product:
• Wiring diagram.
• Parts list.
• Sectional drawing.
• Installation and operating instructions for MP 204.
• Installation and operating instructions
for RSI (only if the control cabinet includes an
RSI).
4. Installation requirements
4.1 Location
• Place the product in a flood-safe place.
• Make sure that the ambient temperature is within
the limits.
• Install the product as close as possible to the
connected pumps, sensors, and accessories.
• The product must be protected from direct
sunlight.
• The product must be easily accessible.
• Install the product in a protective shed or
enclosure to avoid direct sunlight and rain.
• Indoor installation: The product must be installed
in a well-ventilated room to ensure cooling of its
components.

5. Mechanical installation
5.1 Mounting the product
The product is designed to be mounted on a flat and
vertical surface. The cable glands must face
downwards.
To ensure sufficient ventilation, allow at
least 200 mm (8") of space on either side
of the cabinet.
1. Drill holes in the surface. Use the measurements
below depending on the cabinet type. For further
information on cabinet types, see the data booklet
of the selected product.
2. Insert wall plugs, if applicable.
3. Fit the four screws in the mounting holes and
cross-tighten them.

‐Switch off the power supply before
making any electrical connections.
Make sure that the power supply can-
not be switched on unintentionally.
‐All electrical connections must be car-
ried out in accordance with the sepa-
rate wiring diagrams delivered with the
system.
‐Check and fasten the connectors with
appropriate torque when the installa-
tion is finished. The torque value is 1.2
- 1.5 Nm.

7. Commissioning the product
Check the following before the first startup:
1. The solar panels are installed according to the
installation and operating instructions and local
regulations.
2. The electrical connections are made according to
the installation and operating instructions and
local regulations.
3. When connecting the DC supply, make sure that
the correct wiring of +/- is made to both
PowerAdapt and RSI.
4. The pump is installed according to the relevant
installation and operating instructions.
5. Make sure that all earthing is connected to a
common potential.
7.1 Grundfos GO Remote
The product is designed for wireless radio or infrared
communication with Grundfos GO Remote.
Grundfos GO Remote enables functions and access
to status overviews, technical product information and
current operating parameters.
Use Grundfos GO Remote together with Grundfos MI
301 mobile interface:

an Android or iOS-based smart device
through Bluetooth connection.
8. Starting up the product
RSI needs to be configured according to the installed
motor and pump. See the installation and operating
instructions for RSI.
Check that RSI with the motor and the pump operates
according to the specifications.
8.1 Operation
The system ensures an automatic operation. When
the system is powered up, the DC source powers
directly the RSI. The AC source is connected with a 3
minutes power-on delay. The 3 minutes delay
protects against voltage transients during start-up in
the generator application.
8.2 Derating and ambient temperature
Under maximum operation conditions, the ambient
temperature cannot exceed 40 °C. Higher ambient
temperatures are allowed, but only with a derating
current indicated in the figure below.

‐Disconnect the power sources and en-
sure continuous disconnection during
maintenance of the drive and load.
If the variant has heatsinks attached, they must be
maintained for proper functionality. If the heatsinks
are covered in dust or any other materials, such as a
spider’s web, the heatsink does not dissipate the heat
sufficiently.
To prevent this issue, frequently inspect the heatsinks
and clean or remove any material preventing airflow
from going through the fins of the heatsink.

11. Disposing of the product
This product or parts of it must be disposed of in an
environmentally sound way.
1. Use the public or private waste collection service.
2. If this is not possible, contact the nearest
Grundfos company or service workshop.

2. Presentación del producto
2.1 Descripción del producto
El cuadro PowerAdapt es una solución de
combinación de fuentes de alimentación que usa la
energía solar como fuente principal y, si eso no basta,
la complementa con la fuente de alimentación de CA
conectada para generar una salida constante de
suministro eléctrico. Posibilita el funcionamiento
continuo y ofrece la opción de que el equipo siga
funcionando incluso si se produce una interrupción
del suministro eléctrico de CA.

2.2 Variantes
El cuadro PowerAdapt solo funciona con el inversor
RSI conectado externamente. Está disponible en 3

2.2.1 Unidad de control MP 204
La unidad de control MP 204 protege el inversor RSI

2.2.2 RSI
El inversor solar renovable Grundfos RSI es un

funcionamiento de una bomba. El inversor RSI puede
utilizarse en sistemas nuevos o ya existentes,
siempre que las especificaciones del motor sean

variador de frecuencia. Los siguientes tipos de
bombas Grundfos pueden formar parte de

2.3 Uso previsto
El cuadro PowerAdapt de Grundfos es una solución
de combinación de fuentes de alimentación que

fuente adicional en la medida necesaria. Esta
solución permite mantener la energía solar como

3. Recepción del producto
3.1 Inspección del producto
Antes de instalar el producto, lleve a cabo los
siguientes pasos:
1. Compruebe que el producto coincida con el
pedido.
2. Compruebe que las piezas visibles no estén
dañadas.
3. Si hay piezas dañadas o faltan piezas, póngase
en contacto con su distribuidor local de Grundfos
inmediatamente.
4. Vuelva a apretar los tornillos que puedan haberse
aflojado durante el transporte.

3.2 Contenido de la caja

4. Requisitos de instalación
4.1 Ubicación
• Instale el producto en un lugar a salvo de
inundaciones.
• Asegúrese de que la temperatura ambiente no
exceda los límites.
• Instale el producto tan cerca como sea posible de
las bombas, los sensores y los accesorios
conectados.
• El producto debe protegerse de la exposición
directa a la luz solar y la lluvia.
• Debe poderse acceder con facilidad al equipo.
• Instale el producto bajo una cubierta protectora o
encapsúlelo para evitar la luz solar directa y la
lluvia.
• Instalación en interiores: Este producto debe
instalarse en una sala bien ventilada para
garantizar una refrigeración adecuada de los
componentes.

5. Instalación mecánica
5.1 Montaje del producto
Este producto está diseñado para su instalación
sobre una superficie lisa y vertical. Los prensacables
deben quedar orientados hacia abajo.
Con objeto de garantizar la suficiente ven-
tilación, debe dejarse libre un espacio mí-
nimo de 200 mm (8") a cada lado del cua-
dro.
1. Taladre los orificios necesarios en la superficie.
Use las medidas indicadas a continuación según
el tipo de cuadro. Para más información acerca
de los diferentes tipos de cuadros, consulte el
catálogo técnico del producto seleccionado.
2. Coloque tacos en los orificios, si es necesario.
3. Enrosque los cuatro tornillos en los orificios de
montaje y apriételos en orden cruzado.

tes de realizar conexiones eléctricas.
Asegúrese de que la fuente de alimen-
tación no se pueda conectar por acci-
dente.

‐Una vez finalizada la instalación, com-

3.1 Inspección del producto
7. Puesta en marcha del producto
Lleve a cabo las comprobaciones descritas a
continuación antes del arranque inicial:
1. Compruebe que los paneles solares estén
instalados conforme a lo especificado en las
instrucciones de instalación y funcionamiento y en
la normativa local en vigor.
2. Asegúrese de que las conexiones eléctricas se
establezcan conforme a lo especificado en las
instrucciones de instalación y funcionamiento y en
la normativa local en vigor.
3. Al conectar la fuente de alimentación de CC,
asegúrese de conectar correctamente los cables
a los terminales positivos y negativos del cuadro
PowerAdapt y el inversor RSI.
4. La bomba debe instalarse de acuerdo con las
instrucciones de instalación y funcionamiento
correspondientes.
5. Asegúrese de que todas las conexiones a tierra
estén conectadas a un punto equipotencial.
7.1 Grundfos GO Remote
El producto está diseñado para la comunicación
inalámbrica por radio o infrarrojos con
Grundfos GO Remote.
Grundfos GO Remote permite habilitar funciones y
proporciona acceso a información general de estado,
los datos técnicos del producto y los parámetros de
funcionamiento actuales.

Grundfos MI 301:
Módulo independiente que permite la comuni-
cación por radio o infrarrojos. Use este módu-
lo en conjunto con un dispositivo inteligente
Android o iOS mediante una conexión Blue-
tooth.
8. Arranque del producto
Debe configurar el inversor RSI en función del motor
y la bomba instalados. Consulte las instrucciones de
instalación y funcionamiento del inversor RSI.
Compruebe que el conjunto formado por el inversor
RSI, el motor y la bomba funcione conforme a las
especificaciones.
8.1 Funcionamiento
El sistema garantiza el funcionamiento automático.
Cuando el sistema está encendido, la fuente de CC
alimenta directamente el inversor RSI. La fuente de
CA se conecta con un retardo de encendido de
3 minutos. El retardo de 3 minutos proporciona
protección contra transitorios de tensión durante el
arranque cuando el sistema se usa como generador.
8.2 Derrateo y temperatura ambiente
En condiciones máximas de funcionamiento, la
temperatura ambiente no puede superar los 40 °C.
Se admiten temperaturas ambiente superiores, pero
solo con la corriente de derrateo indicada en la
gráfica siguiente.

9. Mantenimiento y revisión del
producto

‐Desconecte la fuente de alimentación
antes de comenzar a trabajar con el
producto. Asegúrese también de que
la fuente de alimentación no se pueda
conectar accidentalmente.
‐Después de apagar, espere el período
de tiempo indicado en la etiqueta del
inversor RSI antes de trabajar con el
producto. Para más información, con-
sulte las instrucciones de instalación y
funcionamiento del inversor RSI.
‐Todas las conexiones eléctricas deben
efectuarse según los esquemas eléctri-
cos suministrados con el sistema.
1. Si el producto presenta algún defecto, consulte
las instrucciones de instalación y funcionamiento
de la unidad de control MP 204 y el inversor RSI.
2. Póngase en contacto con Grundfos si el problema

9.1 Mantenimiento

‐Desconecte las fuentes de alimenta-
ción y garantice la desconexión cons-
tante durante las labores de manteni-
miento del variador y la carga.
Si la variante cuenta con disipadores, estos deberán
recibir el adecuado mantenimiento para que el
funcionamiento tenga lugar correctamente. Si los
disipadores están cubiertos de polvo u otros
materiales, como telarañas, no disiparán
suficientemente el calor.
Para evitar este problema, inspeccione con
frecuencia los disipadores y limpie o elimine el
material que impida que fluya el aire a través de las
aletas de los disipadores.
