lation and operation must comply with local regulations
and accepted codes of good practice.
1.1 Hazard statements
The symbols and hazard statements below may appear in Grundfos
installation and operating instructions, safety instructions and
service instructions.
DANGER
Indicates a hazardous situation which, if not avoided, will
result in death or serious personal injury.
WARNING
Indicates a hazardous situation which, if not avoided,
could result in death or serious personal injury.
CAUTION
Indicates a hazardous situation which, if not avoided,
could result in minor or moderate personal injury.
The hazard statements are structured in the following way:
SIGNAL WORD
Description of the hazard
Consequence of ignoring the warning
• Action to avoid the hazard.
1.2 Notes
The symbols and notes below may appear in Grundfos installation
and operating instructions, safety instructions and service
instructions.
Observe these instructions for explosion-proof products.
A blue or grey circle with a white graphical symbol indi-
cates that an action must be taken.
A red or grey circle with a diagonal bar, possibly with a
black graphical symbol, indicates that an action must not
be taken or must be stopped.
If these instructions are not observed, it may result in mal-
function or damage to the equipment.
Tips and advice that make the work easier.

3.1 Menu selection

Button Description
[Status]: Used for selecting the single-display screen or multi-display screen. Also used for returning to the display
mode when in the [Quick Menu] or [Main Menu].
[Favorites Menu]: Gives access to the parameters in the [Favorites Menu].
[Main Menu]: Gives access to all parameters.
[Alarm log]: Displays the last 10 alarms. For additional information about a specific alarm logged, use the arrow but-
tons to navigate to the alarm number and press OK. The additional information will be displayed.

3.2 Navigation

Button Description
[Back]: Used for reverting to the previous step or exiting the current parameter subgroup.
[Cancel]: Used if a change to the selected parameter is not to be carried out.
[Information]: Displays information about a command parameter or function in any display window. Press the [Infor-
mation], [Cancel] or [Back] buttons to exit.
OK: Used for selecting or changing a parameter in either the [Main Menu] or [Favorites Menu]. Must be pressed to
accept the change to a parameter.

ON
HAND ON: Operates the VFD (variable frequency drive) in Hand (manual) mode.
OFF
OFF: Stops the VFD and the motor during Hand or Auto mode operation.
AUTO
ON
AUTO ON: Operates the VFD in Auto mode based on the present parameters and PID signal.
RESET
RESET: Resets the VFD after an alarm.

4. Preliminary configuration
This configuration must be completed before startup.

‐Touching the electrical parts may be fatal, even after SmartFlo has been switched off. Before starting any work on SmartFlo, the
main supply and other input voltages must be switched off for at least 7 minutes.
4.1 Setting the analog input, terminal 54
Contact A54 is positioned behind the Local Control Panel (keypad) and used for setting the signal type for the analog input (terminal 54). The
factory setting of the input is voltage signal "U".
If a 0/4-20 mA sensor is connected to terminal 54, the input must be set to current signal "I".
Switch off the power supply before setting contact A54.

5. Transducer wiring
The type of the supplied transducer: 24 VDC, 4-20 mA, 2-wire with a braided shield.
The brown wire (+ 24 VDC) must to be connected to terminal 12.
The black wire (signal) must to be connected to terminal 54.
The braided shield must be attached to the chassis of the VFD, as seen below.

If the warning "LIVE ZERO" is displayed on the Local Control Panel, check the transducer connections at terminals 12 and 54.

6. First-time setup via the "Start-up Guide"
At each step, if defaulted to the correct selection, press
the [Down] button to continue to the next step. If the se-
lection needs to be changed, press OK and use the [Up]
and [Down] buttons until the correct selection is highlight-
ed. Press OK again, then press the [Down] button to con-
tinue to the next step.
