3. IMPORTANT RECOMMENDATIONS
CAUTION
To read imperatively before any use of the material
•Underwater Light 318.02 should only be used completely
immersed in water. Otherwise risk destruction of the material.
•After having used the underwater light in water, not to leave it to
the free air before its complete cooling.
•It is recommended not to exceed average life time given by
manufacturer under risk of explosion of the lamp.
•So as to be in conformity with the applicable safety requirements,
always to supply the Underwater Light S-316.01 with differential
circuit breaker 16A/30mA.
•Replace immediately any porthole fissured.
•Replace sacrificial anode when it is dissolved.

5. USER MANUAL
Interconnection drawing of the underwater Light 318.02 is presented in chapter 7.
Connection to power supply
The underwater light connection of the power supply 230V/50Hz is carried out using a
maximum cable HO7RNF 3G2,5 of 100m.
The brown wire is the line
The blue wire is the neutral
The yellow/green wire is the ground
Electrical protection
You must use an electrical protection circuit on the underwater light power supply. For
example you can use an differential circuit breaker 16A/30mA.
Power rise time and hot restrike
The power rise time of the underwater Light is less than 3 minutes. It is necessary to the rise
in temperature of the bulb and the stabilization of the colour temperature.
The 318.02 projectors are not designed to be started again hot. After switch off the
underwater light, the restrike time is less than 10 minutes.
Le projecteur sous-marin 318.02 n’est pas conçu pour être redémarré lorsque la lampe est
chaude. Après l’arrêt du projecteur sous-marin le temps de réamorçage à chaud est inférieur
à 10 minutes.

6. PREVENTIVE MAINTENANCE
Preventive maintenance of underwater light 318.02 is limited to the operations below.
6.1 BOROSILICATE PORT-HOLE CLEANING
The cleaning of the Borosilicate port-hole of the underwater light must be carried out in a
periodic way in order to preserve heat exchange with sea water and lighting efficiency.
The outside of borosilicate port-hole (in contact with sea water) must be cleaned periodically.
The interior face of borosilicate port-hole will not be cleaned that proves to be necessary.
This operation requires the complete opening of the underwater light and must be realized
only in workshop.
Outside
To clean the outside of borosilicate port-hole using a soft rag and of soap water.
Interior face
This cleaning will be carried out in workshop during the bulb replacement.
6.2 CORROSION PROTECTION
A sacrificial anode in Zinc is installed on Stainless Steel Flange. It is intended to be
dissolved to protect other metallic components against marine corrosion.
It is necessary to replace sacrificial anode when it is dissolved.
6.3 REPLACEMENT OF THE BULB
The replacement of the bulb of the underwater light must be carried out imperatively before
the bulb does not arrive at the end of the lifetime. This operation requires the opening of the
projector and must be realized only in workshop.
Underwater light openning
1. Disconnect the electrical installation.
2. Rinse the underwater light with fresh water. Clean underwater light with soap water.
3. Unplug underwater connector.
4. Install underwater light on a table vertically (porthole on the top).
5. Unscrew the protective cage 8 screws (TH M6x20 SS) and remove protective cage
(Option)
5

UNDERWATER LIGHT 318.02: User documentation
6. Unscrew cover ring 8 screws (TH M8x50 SS) and 8 nylstop nuts (M8 SS).
7. Lifts cover Ring.
8. Remove carefully porthole and silicone gasket. Clean it if necessary with soap water.
9. Unscrew reflector 2 screws (CHC M3x10 SS), 2 nuts (M3 SS) and washers.
6

UNDERWATER LIGHT 318.02: User documentation
10. Remove carefully reflector.
11. Remove carefully used lamp
12. Take a new lamp and clean it with paper and isopropyl alcohol.
13. Insert new lamp. Don’t touch the bulb with finger.
14. Insert carefully reflector. Center the lamp in the reflector hole.
15. Screw reflector 2 screws (CHC M3x10 SS), 2 new nuts (M3 SS) and washers
16. Clean, grease and replace (if necessary) the watertight “O” ring.
17. Engage carefully porthole and silicone gasket.
18. Apply cover ring and screw crosswise screws (TH M8x50) and nylstop nuts (M8).
Clamping star. Torque max. 8Nm.
19. Engage protective cage and screw crosswise screws (TH M6x20).
20. Plug underwater connector with marine grease.
21. Test the underwater light outside the water only for a short time (1mn).
REMARK: Only clean and correctly positioned gaskets and “O” Ring guarantee a
watertight housing.
