1. Preface
The ShockMaster 300 is a product of the ymna Shockwave Therapy family with
following characteristics:
•Portable;
•1 output channel;
•WinCe operating system;
•Integrated Air Compressor;
•Hidden service menu;
•18bit colour LCD of 7” with a resolution of 800x480;
•Resistive touch screen.
It is built according the requirements of the MDD security standards.
All functions of the unit are controlled by a microprocessor in a WinCE
environment, ensuring a high degree of reliability, safety and numerous
applications.
An integrated service menu gives the service technician the possibility to locate
and repair a technical problem in the most efficient way.
This service manual gives a technical overview of the ShockMaster 300 and
necessary information for after sales, including trouble shooting.
In doing so, it will equip you to perform correct diagnoses and provide
professional solutions when service is needed.
CAUTIO
This Service manual is intended as an aid for all personnel authorized by
ymnaUniphy nv to carry out repairs, maintenance and technical modifications on
the ShockMaster 300.
Authorized personnel are personnel that have attended the ymnaUniphy Service
Training Courses and were awarded the certificate confirming successful
completion.

2. Important remarks
2.1 Safety aspects
To understand and practice all procedures described in this manual a basic
technical background is needed.
ymnaUniphy can’t be held responsible for any actions executed on the unit by
unauthorized personnel, or for executing any procedures not prescribed in this
manual.
2.2 Data registration
The distributor must be able to provide the following data for each unit:
•Instrument data: Part and serial number
ymnaUniphy has the original configuration of each unit.

All these parts have a serial-or batch number that has to be filed in case of a
configuration change.
•Customer data: Name, full address and date of delivery
•Service activities: All service activities must be filed
If any critical parts are changed, we also expect the distributor to file the new
serial numbers of these part(s). To file this data, an example of a data
registration document is included as appendix at the back of this manual.

4. System description
4.1 General functionality
The ShockMaster 300 is a compressed air operated ballistic shockwave generator
featuring high-precision ballistic components in its applicator for shockwave
generation. The motion and the weight of the projectile, accelerated by
compressed air, produce kinetic energy that is converted into sound energy when
the projectile strikes an unmoved surface (shock transmitter).
Very basically the whole device is built to control 3 parameters: Pressure,
Frequency and Time. Variation of those parameters makes it possible to do
different treatments. All parameters can be set in the user interface, operated by
a touch screen and controlled by a WinCE application.
Pressure
The integrated air compressor generates the compressed air to operate the
handpiece. The input silencer reduces the intake noise of the compressor. The
ventilator is used to cool down the compressor. The check valve prevents a
backflow of air if the compressor is off. The air filter unit includes a micro filter to
clean the air. It also separates out the condensate water. The ventilation valve is
used to regulate air pressure for the handpiece. During opening the condensate is
also directed to the drain silencer, where it evaporates. The pressure sensor is
part of the pressure control loop.
The safety valve opens at a pressure of 6.5 bar to protect the hand piece from
overpressure. The valve is factory-set, so do not disassemble the valve itself. The
stop valve connects the compressed air to the hand piece as long as the device
triggers. When the triggering stops, the stop valve stops the air flow and releases
the remaining air off the hand piece via the output silencer. The hand piece

connector connects the air pressure and control signals to the hand piece.
Frequency
The frequency can also be set in the user interface which transfers the data to the
application PCB. The application PCB sends a pulsed signal, with a frequency
identical to the set frequency, to the valve in the handpiece. This valve will chop
the air flow in the handpiece which results in the necessary frequency.
Time
The duration of the treatment is expressed in the number of shocks. The desired
amount of shocks is set by the user interface, but it is the application PCB which
counts the pulsed signal sent to the valve in the handpiece.

Mains inlet (133111)
Description
The mains inlet functions as the interface between the mains power and
the internal power supply PCB. It contains the 2pole mains switch, two
mains fuses T2AL/250VAC in a fuse carrier and an EMC filter.

Removal/Installation

Make sure the power cable is
disconnected.
Remove the top cover of the
device by unscrewing the five
bolts (two at the back and
three at the bottom).

Disconnect the 2 phase
connectors and earth
connection on the back of the
mains inlet.

Unscrew the two nuts (size
5,5) and take out the mains
inlet.

Proceed the previous steps in reverse order to install the part
again.

The Switch Mode Power Supply (SMPS) module has a wide input range of
nominal 100–240VAC, 50/60 Hz and generates +24 VDC and +5 VDC.

Removal/Installation


Remove the top cover of the

Disconnect the two connectors
on the PCB

Unscrew the four bolts and
take out the PCB.

Proceed the previous steps in reverse order to install the part
again

Application interface (342105)
Description
The application interface PCB is supplied with 24V and communicates via a
serial protocol with the main board. This PCB distributes all data received
from the main PCB to the relevant parts, i.e. pressure controller, power
socket compressor, applicator connectors and output valves.

Removal/Installation


Unscrew the four nuts (size 7)
and take out the PCB.

Proceed the previous steps in reverse order to install the part
again.
