Safety Recommendations
For safe operation, it is imperative that these service instructions be read before use and
that the safety recommendations mentioned herein be scrupulously respected. Opening
the 3624 instrument exposes non-insulated electrical components with hazardous
voltages. Therefore the instrument should not be opened. If repairs or adjustments are
necessary, the instrument should be returned to an authorized Hach Ultra service center.
If danger warnings are not heeded to, serious material or bodily injury could occur.
WARNING
In accordance with safety standards, it must be possible to disconnect the power supply
of the instrument in its immediate vicinity.
WARNING
The installation of the instrument should be performed exclusively by personnel
specialized and authorized to work on electrical installations, in accordance with
relevant local regulations.

None of the instrument’s components can be serviced by the user. Only personnel from
Hach Ultra or its approved representative(s) is (are) authorized to attempt repairs to the
system and only components formally approved by the manufacturer should be used.
Any attempt at repairing the instrument in contravention of these principles could cause
damage to the instrument and corporal injury to the person carrying out the repair. It
renders the warranty null and void and could compromise the correct working of the
instrument and the electrical integrity or the CE compliance of the instrument.
If you have any problems with installation, starting, or using the instrument please

1 Installation
This section should provide you with all the necessary information to prepare for and
install your ProBrix Plus. Should you have any questions, or encounter any difficulties,
please do not hesitate to contact your Hach Ultra representative.
Note:
Because there are specific line-to-sampling module distances and line-level
considerations specified in “Pre-Installation Procedures” on page 10, make a pre-
installation inspection before delivery of the ProBrix Plus to ensure that these conditions
can be met.
Note:
User-supplied N2purge gas cylinder mounts on right side and may vary in width.

ORBISPHERE
1.1 Pre-Installation Procedures
Before installing the ProBrix Plus, perform the following:
• Locate two filling line connections on the sampling module. The first within one
meter of the inlet connection, and the second at up to three meters from the outlet
connection.
• Weld two isolation valve fittings (Swagelok VCO ½" male fittings or fittings for ½"
inside diameter tubing) on the filling line, as close as possible to the filler. Mount
the nuts on the connectors before welding.
Note:
During the above procedures, ensure there are no restrictions in the inlet line, as this
could cause degassing of the CO2leading to incorrect measurements.
Tilt the connectors 10-15° upward and 45° toward the line axis, as illustrated in Fig 1-2.
• Mount the liquid detector in a T-Piece Swagelok fitting in the inlet line. The
detector should be on top, facing downward as depicted in Fig 1-3.
• Provide an N2gas cylinder (minimum 30 liters recommended) with a pressure
regulator output in the range 2 to 7 bar.
• Provide access to a 115 or 230 VAC power supply within two meters from the
sampling module location.
• Route the serial communication cable from the instrument to the PC location.
• Route a cable from the instrument to the filling line hold switch. The switch should
be open when the line is on and closed when line is off.

1.2 3624 Sampling Module Installation
1.2.1 Sampling Module Unpacking and Assembly
The sampling module is packed in a crate for shipment. The indicating instrument,
instrument mounting neck (for mounting onto the sampling module), CO2and O2
sensors, adjustable feet, and cables are packaged separately.
Note:
If you have ordered the sampling unit for Brix analysis only (model 32109D.A or
32109D.B), a CO2sensor is not included. Instead a sensor simulator (model 29117) is
pre-installed (see diagram above). As such, all the following references to the CO2
sensor installation can be ignored.
• Keeping the crate vertical, open the front cover of the crate and carefully pull the
sampling module out of the crate. The sampling module is heavy, 95 kg, and
requires a forklift for movement.
Fig 1-4: External Cabling
Fig 1-5: Sampling Module (Front Cover Opened)

Operator Manual
ORBISPHERE
• Open the sampling module and check for shipment damages inside the sampling
module. Retighten all fittings in the sampling module.
• Attach the four adjustable feet to the bottom of the sampling module (see Fig 1-6).
Do not tighten the locking nut yet.
• Place the CO2sensor and the O2sensor in their respective flow chamber
mountings inside the sampling module (see Fig 1-5), using their collar to secure
each sensor into place.
• Connect the cables with 10-pin LEMO connectors to the CO2sensor and the O2
sensor. The CO2sensor cable connects to the purge backup unit; the O2sensor
cable connects to the Brix/Diet sensor controller.
CAUTION:
Take care to connect the O2sensor to the correct cable, as it can be damaged if
plugged into the CO2sensor cable.
• Connect the temperature sensor to the CO2sensor's temperature adapter using
the cable with the 4-pin LEMO connector.
• Connect the CO2sensor's purge gas tubing from the purge gas regulator, and re-
tighten all purge gas fittings (see also “CO2Sensor Purge Gas Connection” on
page 23).
• Install the 3mm (inside diameter) purge gas exit tube into the CO2sensor
• If you have also taken delivery of the sample filter, install this on the sample inlet
tube using standard Swagelok connections (see also “Model 32957 Sample Filter
Kit” on page 75 for additional information).
• Reposition the ProBrix Plus to its final location.
• Make sure the sampling module vents (on both the left and right sides) are
sufficiently unobstructed to allow airflow to the pump. The pump must have
adequate airflow to prevent it from overheating.
CAUTION:
Prevent water from being sprayed directly into these vents.
• Secure the sampling module feet to the floor if necessary. The feet have holes that
can be used to bolt the unit to the ground.
• Adjust the four feet to level the unit. To test, place a level on top of the Brix/Diet
sensor inside the sampling module. It should be level (or tilted slightly
counterclockwise, just 1-2° to the left as you face the unit) to avoid liquid collecting
inside its U-tube densitometer.

1.3 3624 Indicating Instrument Installation
Cable glands for serial, recorder output, hold switch, and alarms are provided on the
underside of the instrument. LEMO and Binder connectors for the sensors, sampling
module, and power are inside the opening of the mounting bracket.
If mounting separately, include at least 400 mm additional frontal clearance for front
panel access, and at least 100 mm bottom clearance for cable protrusion.

1.3.1 Mounting
Usually, the instrument is mounted onto the sampling module, as described below.
Alternatively, you may mount the instrument on a wall using a stainless-steel support
(model 32209). However, if you wish to wall-mount the instrument, then please contact
your local Hach Ultra Service Representative for more information.
To mount the instrument onto the sampling module, perform the following:
• Pass the four cables from the top of the sampling module (with the LEMO-6,
LEMO-8, LEMO-10, and Binder connectors) through the stainless steel neck (see
Fig 1-8).
• Attach the neck to the top of the sampling module, using the four bolts provided on
the top.
• Connect the cables to the three LEMO connectors and the Binder connector at the
bottom of the instrument case. The LEMO and Binder connectors for the sensors,
sampling module and power are located between the four mounting blocks (see
Fig 1-9).
• Attach the instrument to the top of the neck using the four mounting bolts on the
bottom of the instrument case.
