Tools required: Welder, hex wrench set, saws-all (cutting torch optional), screwdrivers, 1/4" drill, hammer, punches.
Step #1:
With the hopper in the open position, peel the black tape at the top and both sides of the hopper to expose nine screws
holding the stainless steel face to the head. Remove the screws with a screwdriver and remove the face.
Step #2:
Disconnect the springs and shock from the housing inside the safe.

Step #3:
With the hopper in the open position, exposed are eight press in caps covering socket head cap screws that hold the side
bars to the housing. Drill a 1/4" hole at the top and bottom of each cap and remove the caps by driving a pin behind them
or by using pliers to work them out. Now remove the screws and the side bars and remove the hopper.

Step #4:
Remove the plastic gate ejector track from the left side of the housing.
Step #5:
Cut the cable from lock and remove spring. Remove lock, lock detent, and micro switch also.

Step #6:
Remove four screws holding the top casting in the housing and remove the casting. Pull the alarm wires through the
divider plate and retain for future use.
Step #7:
Drill out the bottom three break-off screws from the bottom front panel. Cut the curved baffle plate from the top down into
the front plate approximately one inch. The curved baffle and front plate can now be removed as one unit. The remaining
pieces of the curved baffle should also be removed.

Step #8:
Cut the top divider plate to the back wall and across the back wall and remove plate.
Step #9:
Cut the rear shock mount from the housing and grind smooth.

Step #10:
Remove the terminal strip and wire from the bottom of housing.
Step #11:
Place the new front plate into the housing flush with the front and weld in place. The bar welded to the new front plate
should be to the top and inside when installed. Weld the new deflector plate into the housing with the notches toward the
front plate. The deflector should rest on the bar welded to the front plate.
Step #12:
If your template is not yet formed, bend both sides up 90 degrees and bend both tabs on the top of each
side down 90 degrees.

Step #13:
Place the template into the housing and bolt the new mounting bars to the template. The wide bar mounts to the left and
the narrow bar mounts to the right. With the template setting on the new front plate and flush with the face of the housing,
weld the mounting bars to the housing sides. Remove the template from the housing.
Step #14:
Mount the new alarm switch to the right side no lower than twelve inches from the top of the new front plate. You can use
the existing wires from the old switch that was removed. Set the switch so that the plunger is activated at 2-3/4" from
the face of the housing. Install the new 98RH into the housing with the bucket partially opened. Secure the new head
with 3/8-16 X 1" socket head cap screws, lock washers, and flat washers provided.
