Thank you for purchasing SanCheong’s positive pressure air respirator.
This instruction manual must be carefully read and followed by all persons who have or will
have the responsibility for using or servicing this SCBA.
This SCBA will perform as designed only if used and serviced according to the instructions;
Otherwise it could fail to perform as designed, and improper use of this SCBA may result in
serious personal injury or death.

■ The warning and caution marks mean the following;

1. Forthesakeofsafety,readtheinstructioncarefullyandgetsufcienttrainingpriortouse
the air respirator.
2. Ifanaccidentoccursduetounauthorizedmodicationoralternation,SanCheongshall
not take any responsibilities.
3. NeverusetheAmbientairmodeinaplaceshortofoxygenbyitsconcentration18%or
less,orinaplacecontaminatedbytoxicgas.Usingthebreathingapparatusinsuchplace
may lead to serious injuries or death.
4. Never use the positive pressure air respirator underwater or as a scuba dive.
5. If,duringaleaktestorduringtheprocessofcleaning,anysoapwaterorothersolution
getsintotheinsidethepositivepressureregulatorand/oralarms,itmayincurequipment
malfunction.Takecautionasitmayleadtoseriousdanger.
6. Removingthefacepieceinadangerousplacecontaminatedbytoxicgasmayleadto
suffocationleadingtodeath.Alwaysmovetoasafeplacebeforeremovingthefacepiece.
7. Usingstrongdetergentsorcorrosiveagenttocleanthecylindermaycausedestruction
ofthecylinderduetothestress-corrosioncrackingphenomenon.Thismayleadto
serious injuries or death.
8. Usinganairrespiratorwithcrackedordamagedpositivepressureregulatormaycause
seriousinjuryordeath.Neverusesuchdefectiverespirator.Contactyourlocaldistributor
ormanufacturerforinspectionandrepair.
9. Usingthepositivepressureregulatorwatercontainedinitmayincureequipment
malfunction.Getridofmoistureorwaterinthepositivepressureregulatorbeforeuse.
10.Ifanytroubleoccursontheairrespirator,donotattempttorepairit.Contactyourlocal
distributorormanufacturerforinspectionandrepair.SanCheongshallnottakeany
responsibilityifanyaccidentoccursfromequipmentthathasnotbeenrepairedby

6. Ifairleakisdiscoveredonthevalveorhoseconnectingparts,stopusingtheproduct
immediately,andcontactyourlocaldistributorormanufacturerforinspectionandrepair.
7. Seriousscratchesonthefaceshieldmayreducevisibilitywhichcreatingadanger.Replace
thefaceshieldimmediatelyifscratchedontheshield.
8. Inordertopreventobstructionofviewbybreathing,spreadanti-fogsolutiononinnerpart
ofthefaceshield.
9. Duetouser’sbodyfeaturessuchasbeard,hairandmustache,andtheglassesworn
bytheuser,thefacepiecemaynotperfectlyttheface.Ifthereisanygapbetween
thefacepieceandtheface,airmayleakoutrapidlyreducingthetimeofuse.

10.Whenllingthehigh-pressurecylinder(hereinafterreferredtoas“cylinder”),checkand
replacetheaircompressorlterperiodicallytopreventforeignsubstancesfromgettinginto
the cylinder.
11. Always wear the air respirator in a clean air place.
12.If,duringtheprocessofusingtheairrespirator,thepositivepressureregulatorfails,
immediatelyopentheBy-passvalve(emergencyvalve)tocontinuebreathing.Escapeto
asafeplace,andcontactyourlocaldistributorormanufacturerforinspectionandrepair.

■Facepiece:Thefacepieceisconsistoffaceshield,regulatorreleasebutton,
speechdiaphragm,airswitchknob,exhalationvalve,headharnessandfacepiece
rubber.Theheadharnessisdesignedintheformofanetallowingcomfortable
feelingofwearandpreventingharnessfrombeingtwisted.
Thefacepieceismadeofsyntheticrubberandlargesingle-lensprovideswideview.
Theairswitchknobisanequipmentenablingwearertobreathewithambientair
whilewearingthefacepiece.(Neverputtheairswitchknobto“Ambientair”inan
areacontaminatedwithtoxicgas.)
■ Regulator:FBO(FirstBreathingOperation)systemallowstheSCBAtoactivate
withoutfreeow.Thisdevicereducesthepressure,whichhasbeenreducedrstby
theregulator,forthesecondtimetoalevelwhichissuitableforbreathing.Itmain-
tainsthepressureinsidethefacepiecetoalevelwhichishigherbyapproximately
20mmH2Othanthepressureoutsidethefacepiece,topreventthepollutedexternal
airgettingintotheinsidethefacepiece.
Incaseanerroroccursontheregular,theredBy-passvalve(emergencyvalve)
enables the user to receive the compressed air inside cylinder without breathing.
■ Regulator side button:Tostopusingtherespirator,pushthesidebuttonas
shown in the picture.
■ Regulator release buttons: Facepiece and regulator has disconnecting
structurewhichallowsusertoreleaseregulatorfromthefacepiecebypushingthe
two red buttons as shown in the picture
■ Pressure gauge: Luminous treatment is applied to the gauge so that user easi-
lycanrecognizeleakofremainingpressureinthedark.
■ Alarm:Thisdevicealertstheuserbygeneratinganalarmwhentheremaining
pressureofthecylinderisapproximately55bar,andtheusercanrecognizeinthe
noisyplacesuchasthesceneofare.
■ 1st stage regulator:Thisdevicesuppliesairtotheregulatorafterreducingthe
cylinderairtoapproximately8bar(8kgf/cm2).
■ Cylinder valve:Valveisequippedwithasafetydevicewhich
preventingburstoffthecylinderfromhightemperatureandovercharge.
Cylindervalvehasabuilt-inpressuregaugetocheckcylinderpressure
without opening valve.
■ Air cylinder: Composite cylinder made with aluminum liner and
wrappedwithcarbonberandberglass.
■ Flashing locator lights:Installedonbothsidesoftheharness,
isautomaticallyoperatedwhenthecylindervalveisopened.TheLED
lightsturnstoredwhentheremainingpressureislowerthanapproxi-
mately 55bar.
■ Shoulder strap:“S”typestructureprovidingcomfortablefeeling
ofwear.The“D”ring,installedonthestrap,allowsthestuffforres-
cue,suchaslantern,ropeandotherpersonalrescuedevices,tobe
equipped.
■ Waist belt buckle:One-touchtypestructureallowingquickand
easy connection.
■ Rescue mask:Thishalfnegativepressure(regulator)mask,con-
nectedtotheone-touchcouplingsocketattachedtotheharness,helps
thevictimbreathe.Thepushbuttononthecenterofthemasktoenable
simplearticialrespiration(*Optional)
■ Harness:Thisdeviceisusedtocarrythecylinderontheback.It
canbexedtothewaistbypullingthewaistbeltwithbothhands.In
order to ensure the air respirator user can work conveniently.

theregulator,forthesecondtimetoalevelwhichissuitableforbreathing.Itmain-
tainsthepressureinsidethefacepiecetoalevelwhichishigherbyapproximately
20mmH2Othanthepressureoutsidethefacepiece,topreventthepollutedexternal
airgettingintotheinsidethefacepiece.

■ Mounting cylinder on harness
-Loosenthecylinderxingbandoftheharnesstolargerthanthecylindercircumference.
-Aimthecylindervalvetowardsthelowerpartoftheharness,andpushitintotheinsideofthe
xingband.
-Priortoconnectingthe1ststageregulatorwiththecylindervalve,checkthedamageordefects
ofO-ringattachedtotheinsidethe1st stage regulator connecting nuts.
-Connectthe1st stage regulator installed on the harness with the cylinder valve.
-Fixthecylinderrmlytotheharnesswiththecylinderxingband.
-Whenthecylindervalveisopenedagain,pressuregaugeindicatorshallnothaveanychanges.
-Ifthereisachangeinthepressuregauge,applysoapwatertotheconnectingpartsofthe
cylindervalvesafetydeviceandairoutlets,pressuregauge,hose,andalarms,andcheckfor
bubbles or drops.
-Ifairleaks,eventhecylindervalveand1ststageregulatorareaccuratelyconnected,checkthe
1ststageregulatoro-ring.CheckO-ringwhetherdamageormissing.
■ Leakage test
Cylinder
-Turnthecylindervalveon.
-Asthepressuregaugeindicatormaychangeduetothepressureexpandednearthehose,
carefullyturnthecylindervalvehandlecounterclockwisefor1ormoreturnsandremainsfor
approximately5~10minutes.
-Checkthepressuregaugereadingandturnthecylindervalvehandleclockwisetoclosethe
valve,andcheckthepressurechangeafterapproximately5~10minutes.
■ Pressure gauge and alarm
-Afteraleakagetest,completelyclosethecylindervalveandslowlyturntheBy-pass(tocounter-
clockwise)toopen.Thepressurebeginstodropbydrainingtheairinsidethehose.
-VerifythatRedLEDandalarmonharnessisgeneratedwherethepressuregaugeindicatesat
approximately55bar(5.5Mpa).

■ Mounting cylinder on harness
-Loosenthecylinderxingbandoftheharnesstolargerthanthecylindercircumference.
-Aimthecylindervalvetowardsthelowerpartoftheharness,andpushitintotheinsideofthe
xingband.
-Priortoconnectingthe1ststageregulatorwiththecylindervalve,checkthedamageordefects
ofO-ringattachedtotheinsidethe1st stage regulator connecting nuts.
-Connectthe1st stage regulator installed on the harness with the cylinder valve.
-Fixthecylinderrmlytotheharnesswiththecylinderxingband.
-Whenthecylindervalveisopenedagain,pressuregaugeindicatorshallnothaveanychanges.
-Ifthereisachangeinthepressuregauge,applysoapwatertotheconnectingpartsofthe
cylindervalvesafetydeviceandairoutlets,pressuregauge,hose,andalarms,andcheckfor
bubbles or drops.
-Ifairleaks,eventhecylindervalveand1ststageregulatorareaccuratelyconnected,checkthe
1ststageregulatoro-ring.CheckO-ringwhetherdamageormissing.
■ Leakage test
Cylinder
-Turnthecylindervalveon.
-Asthepressuregaugeindicatormaychangeduetothepressureexpandednearthehose,
carefullyturnthecylindervalvehandlecounterclockwisefor1ormoreturnsandremainsfor
approximately5~10minutes.
-Checkthepressuregaugereadingandturnthecylindervalvehandleclockwisetoclosethe
valve,andcheckthepressurechangeafterapproximately5~10minutes.
■ Pressure gauge and alarm
-Afteraleakagetest,completelyclosethecylindervalveandslowlyturntheBy-pass(tocounter-
clockwise)toopen.Thepressurebeginstodropbydrainingtheairinsidethehose.
-VerifythatRedLEDandalarmonharnessisgeneratedwherethepressuregaugeindicatesat
approximately55bar(5.5Mpa).

1.Uponcompletionofusingtheapparatus,keepawayfromthetoxicgasareacompletely.
Turntheairswitchknobtothe“Ambient air”positionandthenpushtheregulatorside
button.
2.Pullandloosenthefacepiece’sharnessstrap,andremovethefacepiecestartingfromthe
chin.
3.Disconnectcheststrapbuckleandunfastenwaistbelt.
4.Pullthestrapclampupwardtoloosenthestrap.
5.Putdowntheharnesscarefully,trynottoapplyimpacttothecylinder.
6.Closethecylindervalve,anddrainairoutofthehoseuntilthepressuregaugeindicates
0kgf/cm2byusingtheBy-pass.ThenclosetheBy-pass.
7.Disconnectthefacepiecehosefromthecouplingsocket.
8.Checkthefacepieceandtheairrespiratorforanysignofmalfunction.
■ Cleaning
1.Closetheaircylindervalvecompletely,anddrainallpressureremainingintheairrespirator
hose.
2.Usingapieceofsoftcloth,cleanandremoveforeignmaterialsfromthefacepiece,cylinder,
hose and harness.
3.Cleanthefacepieceonlyafterremovingtheregulator.
4.Forcleaningsolution,usemildsoapwithwarmwater.Dipapieceofsoftclothintothediluted
solutionandcleanthefacepiece,cylinder,hoseandharness.
5.Soakasoftclothintowarmwaterandcleanthefacepiece,cylinder,hoseandharness.
6.Usingadriedcloth,removeremainingwaterfromthefacepiece,cylinder,hoseandharness.
7.Storeapparatusinwell-ventilatedplaces.Keepawayfromheatanddirectsunlight.
8.Tocleanthefaceshield,usedriedandsoftclothwithextracare.
9.Removeandcleantheforeignmaterialsfromtheleftandrightwaistbeltadjustingframeof
theharness.Iftheframeisnotproperlyworking,cleantheframewithasortofoilpaper.
■ For use the rescue mask
1. Connect the rescue mask to the harness socket.
2. As the rescue mask is operated in the negative
pressuresystem,airissuppliedfromtheair
respirator only when the wearer inhales air.
3. Ifthewearerneedslargeamountofair,press
thebuttonlocatedontheuppercenterofthe
rescue mask.

If,afterconnectingtherescuemask,2personsusetheapparatussimultaneously,theactualair
respiratoroperationtimewillbereducedsignicantlythanthetimepresentedbythemanufac-
turer.Precautiousduringuse.
1.Donotuseacetone,benzene,chemicalproductsorgasolineandothertypeofsolvents
tocleantheproduct.Usingsuchmaterialstocleantheproductmaycausedamagetothe
product.
2.Donotsoakanyofthevalves,positivepressureregulator,high-pressureregulatorand
hoseinthewater.Anymoistureorwaterexistinginsideanyofsuchpartsmayinducefault
whileusingtheequipment,placingtheuserindanger.
3.Donotusestrongdetergentsorcorrosiveagent(suchasacidorbasicsolutionandother
chemicalproducts)tocleanthecylinder.Usingsuchmaterialstocleanthecylindermay
causedestructionofthecylinderduetothestress-corrosioncrackingphenomenon.
Thismayleadtoseriousinjuriesordeath.
