• ConnectthesuppliedHI 76306probetotheDINsocketonthetopof
themeterbyaligningthepinsandpushingintheplug.Tightenthe
nuttoensureagoodconnectionandremovetheprotectivecap.
• Pressandhold the MODE buttonfor2 seconds.Alltheused seg-
ments of the LCD will be visible for a few seconds, followed by a
percentindicationoftheremainingbatterylife(eg.%100bATT).
• Placetheprobein the sample tobetested.Ifpossible,useplastic
beakersorcontainerstominimizeanyelectromagneticinterference.
• SelecteitherECorTDSmode(µSorppmunitfor HI99300,mSor
pptunitforHI 99301)bypressingtheSET/HOLDbutton.Tempera-
turewillalwaysbedisplayedonthesecondaryLCD.
• Tap the probe lightly on the bottom of the container to remove air
bubblesthatmaybetrappedinsidethetip.
• Allowafewminutesforthethermalequilibriumtobereached,i.e.until
theinstabilitysymbol(onthetopleftcorneroftheLCD)disappears.
• ThemeterwillshowtheECorTDSvalueautomaticallycompensated
fortemperatureandthetemperatureofthesample.
• To freeze a reading on the LCD, press and hold the SET/HOLD
buttonuntil“HOLd”appearsonthesecondarydisplay. Presseither
buttontoreturntonormalmode.
• To turn the meter OFF, press and hold the MODE button while in
normalmode.“OFF”willappearontheLCD;releasethebutton.
CALIBRATIONPROCEDURE
• FromECmeasurementmode,pressandholdtheMODEbuttonuntil
“CAL”isdisplayedon the lower LCD.
• Releasethebuttonandimmersetheprobeinthepropercalibration
solution(HI7031 at1413µS/cmforHI99300orHI7030at12.88
mS/cmforHI99301).
• Oncethecalibrationhasbeenautomaticallyperformed,theLCDwill
displayOKfor1secondandreturntonormalmeasurementmode.
• TheCALsymbollightsupontheLCDtoindicatethatthemeteris
calibrated.
Note:Sincethere is aknownrelationshipbetweentheEC andTDS
reading,itisnotnecessarytocalibratethemeterinTDS.Ifthe
conversionfactoriseither0.5or0.7,themeterwillallowadirect
calibrationinTDSbyusingtheHannacalibrationsolutions.
Note:Toresettothedefaultcalibrationvalue,presstheMODEbutton
afterenteringthecalibrationmode.TheLCDwilldisplayESC
for1secondandthemeterwillreturntonormalmode.TheCAL
symbolontheLCDwilldisappear.
METERSETUP
WhileinECorTDSmeasurementmode, pressandholdthe MODE
buttonuntil“TEMP”andthecurrenttemperatureunitaredisplayedon
the lower LCD (eg. TEMP °C). Then:
To select the temperature unit (°C / °F)
• Pressthe SET/HOLD button tochange the temperatureunit, and
thenpresstheMODEbuttonthreetimes,untilthemeterreturnsto
normalmeasurementmode.
To change the EC/TDS conversion factor (CONV) and the tem-
perature compensation coefficient (BETA)
• PresstheMODEbuttonagaintoshowthecurrentconversionfactor
(eg.0.50CONV),thenpressSET/HOLDtochangethevalue.
• PresstheMODEbuttontoshowthecurrent temperaturecompen-
sationcoefficientβ(eg.2.1BETA),thenpressSET/HOLDtochange
thetemperaturecoefficientvalue.
• PresstheMODEbuttonreturntonormaloperation.
BATTERYREPLACEMENT
Themeterdisplaystheremainingbatterypercentageeverytimeitis
turned on. When the battery level is below 5%, the battery symbol
lightsupontheLCDtoindicatealowbatterycondition.Ifthebattery
levelissolowastocauseerroneousreading,theBatteryErrorPre-
ventingSystem(BEPS)willautomaticallyturnthemeteroff.
Tochangethebatteries,removethe4screwslocatedonthebackof
themeterandcarefullyreplaceallthe4batterieswhilepayingattention
totheirpolarity. Reattach thebackmakingsurethatthegasketisin
placeandtightenthe4screwstoensureawatertightseal.
