CONTENTS
This manual providesthe installation, safety, and
operating instructionsfor the atcoPop-Up Toaster.
We recommend all installation, operating, and safety
instructions appearing in this manual be read prior to
installation or operation of your atco Pop-Up
Toaster. Safety instructions that appear in this
manual after a safety alert symbol and the words
WARNING or CAUTION printed in bold face are very
important. WARNINGmeans there is the
possibility of serious injury or death to yourself or
others. CAUTION means there is the possibility
of minor or moderate injury. The word NOTICE
without the symbol signifies the possibility of
equipment or property damage only.
The atco Pop-Up Toaster is a product of extensive
research and field testing. The materials used were
selected for maximum durability, attractive
appearance, and optimum performance. Every unit
is inspected and tested thoroughly prior to shipment.
INTRODUCTION
The atco Pop-Up Toaster is perfect for self-serve
buffet areas and lighter volume restaurants, diners,
and cafes. The unit evenly toasts a variety of bread
products including bagels, texas toast, waffles, and
english muffins. The Pop-Up Toaster makes a great
addition to your conveyor toaster for those non-peak
periods when an occasional order of toast is
needed.
The Pop-Up Toaster features a durable stainless
steel housing, four self-centering extra-wide slots,
individual toasting controls, a removable crumb tray
for easy cleaning, and a 6' (1829 mm) cord with
plug.

IMPORTANT SAFETY INFORMATION
To avoid any injury, do not allow liquids to
spill into the unit.
Some exterior surfaces on the unit will get
hot. Use caution when touching these areas
to avoid injury.
To avoid any injury, do not clean the unit
when unit is energized or hot.
For safe and proper operation, the unit must
be located a minimum of 1" (25 mm) from
combustible walls and materials. If safe
distances are not maintained, discoloration
or combustion could occur.
If service is required on this unit, contact the

This product has no “user-serviceable”
parts. To avoid damage to the unit or injury to
personnel, use only Authorized Hatco
Service Agents and Genuine Hatco
Replacement Parts when service is required.
Genuine Hatco Replacement Parts are
specified to operate safely in the
environments in which they are used. Some
after-market or generic replacement parts do
not have the characteristics that will allow
them to operate safely in Hatco equipment. It
is essential to use Hatco Replacement Parts
when repairing Hatco equipment. Failure to
use Hatco Replacement Parts may subject
operators of the equipment to hazardous
electrical voltage, resulting in electrical
shock or burn.
WARNING
To avoid any injury, unplug the toaster from
the power source and allow to cool
completely before performing maintenance,
cleaning, or attempting to clear a jam.
To assure safe and proper operation, plug
unit into a properly grounded electrical outlet
of the correct voltage, size and plug
configuration. If the plug and receptacle do
not match, contact a qualified electrician to
determine the proper voltage and size and
install the proper electrical outlet.
To avoid electrical shock or personal injury,
do not steam clean or use excessive water on
the unit.
To prevent any injury or damage to the unit
do not pull unit by power cord.
To prevent any injury, discontinue use if
power cord is frayed or worn.
In case of fire, disconnect the toaster from its
power source immediately. This allows the
unit to cool, making it easier and safer to put
out the fire.

do not store or use gasoline or other
flammable vapors or liquids in the vicinity of
this or any other appliance.
To avoid electrical shock, personal injury, or
damage to the unit do not pick up the toaster
by inserting fingers into the toaster slots and

or similar objects into the toasting chamber.
Units are not waterproof. DO NOT submerge
in water. Do not operate if unit has been
submerged in water.

Unit is not weatherproof. For safe and proper
operation, locate the unit indoors where the
ambient air temperature is constant and is a
minimum of 70°F (21°C).
To avoid any injury or damage, locate the unit
at the proper counter height in an area that is
convenient for use. The location should be
level to prevent the unit or its contents from
accidentally falling and strong enough to
support the weight of the unit and food.
Do not place anything on top of toaster;
doing so could damage toaster or subject
personnel to possible injury.
To avoid damage to the unit or injury to
personnel, always operate toaster with
crumb tray installed.
To avoid any injury, do not remove the crumb
tray for cleaning until the toaster is cool.
CAUTIONS
The toasting of coated or buttered products
such as garlic bread, cheese sandwiches,
and sweet rolls is NOT recommended.
Residue will reduce toaster performance and
could ignite inside the toaster.
Use non-abrasive cleaners only. Abrasive
cleaners could scratch the finish of the unit,
marring its appearance and making it
susceptible to dirt accumulation.
Do not lay unit on the side with the control panel
or damage to unit could occur.
Toasters are intended for commercial use
only — NOT for household use.

MODEL DESCRIPTION
ALL MODELS
The atco Pop-Up Toaster is perfect for buffet areas
and lighter volume restaurants. The TPT series
toasters have four self-centering, extra wide slots
with individual progressive toasting controls. The
durable stainless steel housing contains a
removable crumb tray for easy cleaning.
MODEL TPT-120
The TPT-120 is capable of toasting up to 220 slices
of toast per hour. This unit comes equipped with
cord wrap clips on the bottom of the toaster to
minimize clutter on the counter.
MODEL TPT-208 & TPT-240
The TPT-208 and TPT-240 are capable of toasting
up to 320 slices of toast per hour.

PLUG CONFIGURATIONS
Units are supplied from the factory with an electrical
cord and plug installed. Plugs are supplied
according to the applications. (See Figure 3.)
To ensure safe and proper operation, plug unit
into a properly grounded electrical outlet of the
correct voltage, size, and plug configuration. If
the plug and receptacle do not match, contact a
qualified electrician to determine and install the
proper voltage and size electrical outlet.

INSTALLATION
UNPACKING
The Toaster is shipped with all components pre-
assembled. Care should be taken when unpacking
shipping carton to avoid damage to unit and
components enclosed.
To prevent any injury or damage to the unit do
not pull unit by power cord.
To prevent any injury, discontinue use if power
cord is frayed or worn.
To avoid electrical shock, personal injury, or
damage to the unit do not pick up the toaster by
inserting fingers into the toaster slots and
grasping the heating elements.
1. Remove the unit from the carton.
2. Remove the information packet. To prevent
delay in obtaining warranty coverage, fill out
and mail in the warranty card.
3. Remove tape and protective packaging from all
surfaces of unit.
Do not lay unit on the side with the control
panel. Damage to the unit could occur.

For proper operation and maximum performance,

NOTE: T e TPT-120 series is equipped wit cord
wrap clips on t e bottom of t e toaster to
minimize clutter. Place excess cord around
cord wrap clips (see Figure 7.).
2. Set COLOR CONTROL knobs to desired toast
darkness. For lighter toast, turn the COLOR
CONTROL knob counter-clockwise. For darker
toast, turn the COLOR CONTROL knob
clockwise (see Figure 6).
3. Place product in toasting slots and push
operating lever(s) down to toast product.
Operating lever(s) will raise at the end of the
toasting cycle automatically.
NOTE: T e operating lever(s) can be lifted
manually during toasting for product
removal.
4. For periodic cleaning, remove and empty the
crumb tray.
NOTE: Do not operate t e toaster w en t e crumb
tray is removed.

CLEANING
The atco TPT Toaster is designed for maximum
durability and performance with minimum
maintenance.
To avoid any injury, unplug the toaster from the
power source and allow to cool completely

attempting to clear a jam.

2. Wash the crumb tray with warm water and a mild
detergent. Rinse with water.
3. Allow the crumb tray to air dry or hand dry with a
soft cloth before placing back into the toaster.
4. Wipe the exterior surface of the toaster with a
damp cloth.

one year from date of purchase or eighteen months
from date of shipping from atco, which ever occurs
first.

TROUBLESHOOTING GUIDE
To avoid any injury or damage the toaster must
only be serviced by qualified personnel.
WARNING
To avoid any injury, unplug the toaster from the
power source and allow to cool completely
before performing any maintenance, cleaning,
or attempting to clear a jam.

SYMPTOM PROBABLE CAUSE CORRECTIVE ACTION
Toast too light. COLOR CONTROL knob set on a
light setting.
Adjust COLOR CONTROL knob to a darker
setting.
Supply voltage to unit is low. Verify the supply voltage to the toaster
matches the unit specifications.
Toast too dark. COLOR CONTROL knob set on
a dark setting.
Adjust COLOR CONTROL knob to a lighter
setting.
Unit takes too long to toast.
Supply voltage to unit is high. Verify the supply voltage to the toaster
matches the unit specifications.
The first few batches can take
longer because the toaster needs
time to heat up when initially
turned on.
Allow toaster to heat up before inserting bread
product.
Unit toasts on one side only. eating element defective. Visually check heating elements inside toaster
with the latch engaged. With the handle
pushed down, the heating element should
glow red. If the element does not glow, contact
atco Service for assistance.
Toaster does not pop-up
automatically.
Spring is broken.
Unlatching solenoid is no longer
working.
Control board has stopped
working.

2. PRODUCT WARRANTY
atco warrants the products that it
manufactures (the “Products”) to be free from
defects in materials and workmanship, under
normal use and service, for a period of one (1)
year from the date of purchase when installed
and maintained in accordance with atco’s
written instructions or 18 months from the date
of shipment from atco. Buyer must establish
the product’s purchase date by returning
atco’s Warranty Registration Card or by other
means satisfactory to atco in its sole
discretion.

atco’s liability and Buyer’s exclusive remedy
hereunder will be limited solely, at atco’s option,
to repair or replacement by atco or a atco-
authorized service agency (other than where
Buyer is located outside of the United States or
Canada in which case atco’s liability and
Buyer’s exclusive remedy hereunder will be
limited solely to replacement of part under
warranty) with respect to any claim made within
the applicable warranty period referred to above.
atco reserves the right to accept or reject any
such claim in whole or in part. atco will not
accept the return of any Product without prior
written approval from atco. ATCO WILL NOT
