3. Installation
•Installation Cautions
The performan e of this temperature s reening s heme is greatly affe ted by the environment.
This s heme would apply only to indoor environments, or s enarios, with alm air and
onsistent temperature. Also, the relative installation lo ation of devi es greatly affe t the
a ura y of temperature measurement. In order to improve measurement a ura y, the
installation environment has to meet ertain requirements:
-Sele t a lo ation with a one-dire tion path to ensure that ameras apture the full fa es of
all passing persons. It is re ommended that people briefly stop movement during
measurements.
-Sele t indoor environments with alm air and onsistent temperature. Outdoor
environments with rapid temperature hanges are not re ommended.
-If this s heme is used in entran e lo ations that onne t indoor and outdoor environments,
it is suggested that the installation lo ation be kept at a distan e from the entran e (su h
as at ustoms or se urity he kpoints).
-Avoid pla ing obje ts with high temperature in the s ene.

•Camera Installation
1. Atta h the amera to a tripod (highly re ommended).
NOTE: If using the amera hand held, minimize amera movement when taking a
measurement. Note that using the amera hand held will not be as a urate as
using it on a tripod.
NOTE: This amera an be mounted on a tripod without an adapter. Hikvision offers a
tripod for additional pur hase. As suppliers have not fully restored produ tion
apa ity re ently, there are multiple suppliers, and there may be slight
differen es of the same model, whi h will not affe t use. If you are on erned
about this, you an lo ally pur hase any tripod that meets the standards.
2. Set the amera in front of the one-dire tion path so that it an apture the full fa es of
passing people, as shown below.
3. Set installation height between 4' 11" and 5' 7" (1.5 m and 1.7 m), at the same height as
human fa es (or at a low elevation angle to redu e error by heat sour es near the ground).
4. Set the distan e between the amera and obje t as follows:
• DS-2TP31B-3AUF: Set at 3' 4" (1 m)
• DS-2TP21B-6AVFW: Set between 3' 4" and 6' 7" (1 m and 2 m)
NOTE: Avoid pla ing any obje t in the amera view’s ba kground with a temperature
higher than a human body’s.

4. DS-2TP31B-3AUF Configuration
•User Interface. This handheld thermographi amera’s user interfa e is shown below.
•Alarm Tem .: Set to 99.5° F (37.5° C), or adjust it to your requirements. If the measured value
ex eeds the set value, the displayed Max Tem . Value turns red and flashes, as shown below.
•Emissivity: Set to 0.98 for human skin thermography, as shown below.

•Distance: Set to the a tual distan e between the amera and the measured obje t. This a tual
distan e is re ommended to be set between 3' 4" (1 m) normally, as shown below.

•Configuration
1. Go to Settings >> Local Settings >> Thermogra hy Settings.
2. Set Emissivity to 0.98.

3. Set Distance to the a tual distan e between the amera and measured obje t.
4. Go to Thermogra hy and set Hot S ot, Center S ot, and other items as required.
5. Go to Palettes, Set Alarm Tem erature (Above) as required. If the measured value ex eeds
the set value, the displayed Max Tem . Value turns red and flashes, as shown below.
6. Adjust the Focus Knob and make sure the live view is lear during measurement.
6. Usage Notes
Before using this devi e for a tual body temperature measurement, run it for 15 minutes for
preheating.
The measured human body temperature is the same as the measured Max Tem . Value in this
s heme; make sure that the Max Tem . Point is on the human fa e in the amera view during
measurement.

All of the above Installation and Configuration des riptions assume that the devi e is used with
fixed pla ement on a tripod. The temperature measurement a ura y may not meet the same
standard if using it as a portable handheld devi e or outdoors (not re ommended).
