1.0 Introduction
Congratulations on purchasing the monty electric/air tire
changer.
This tire changer is designed for ease of operation, safe
handling of rims, reliability and speed.
Thiscombinationof features meansmoreprofitand added
versatility for your shop, enabling you to work with
aluminum or magnesium alloy wheels without damaging
customer’s rims.
With a minimum of maintenance and care, your tire
changerwillprovidemanyyearsoftrouble-free operation.
Instructions on use, maintenance and operational
requirements of the machine are covered in this manual.

1.1 Use Limitations
The tire changer monty 1520 and monty 1520m is
designed to demount and mount tires with a diameter up
to 40”. Inflation of tires on the machine is feasible only up
to 50 PSI. Tires that require a higher pressure must be
inflated in suitable inflating devices (safety cage and the
like).
Clamping ranges for outer and inner clamping are:
monty 1520 (1520m)
Outer clamping 10” to 18” rim diameter
Inner clamping 12” to 20” rim diameter
The following optional extras are available:
- Jaws for motorcycle wheels. From 15” to 21”.
- Jawsformotor-scooter/ATVwheels.From7”to15”
- Small bead breaker blade for motorcycle wheels,
also to be used for narrow car wheels.

THE INSTALLATION SHALL BE CARRIED OUT ONLY

CHECK FOR POSSIBLE DANGEROUS CONDITIONS
DURINGTHEOPERATIONOF THEMACHINE.IN SUCH
A CASE STOP THE MACHINE IMMEDIATELY.
IN CASE ADEFECTIVE FUNCTIONING CONDITION IS
DETECTED, STOP USING THE MACHINE AND CALL
THE AUTHORIZED HOFMANN DISTRIBUTOR FOR
ASSISTANCE.
Precautions
A. DURING THE USE AND MAINTENANCE OF THE
MACHINE IT IS MANDATORY TO COMPLY WITH ALL
LAWS AND REGULATIONS FOR ACCIDENT
PREVENTION.
B. THE ELECTRIC POWER SOURCE MUST HAVE A
GROUND CABLEAND THE GROUND CABLE OF THE
MACHINE (YELLOW WITH GREEN) MUST BE
CONNECTED TO THE GROUND CABLE OF THE
POWER SOURCE.
C. BEFORE ANY MAINTENANCE OR REPAIRS ARE
ACCOMPLISHED THE MACHINE MUST BE
DISCONNECTED FROM THE ELECTRIC SUPPLY.
D. DO NOT WEAR TIES, CHAINS OR OTHER LOOSE
ARTICLES WHEN USING, MAINTAINING OR
REPAIRING THE MACHINE. LONG HAIR IS ALSO
DANGEROUS AND SHOULD BE KEPT UNDERA HAT.
THE USER MUST WEAR PROPER SAFETYATTIRE IE;
GLOVES, SAFETY SHOESAND GLASSES.

F. KEEP SAFETY FEATURES IN PLACE AND IN
WORKING ORDER.

AREAS INVITE ACCIDENTS.
H.AVOID DANGEROUS ENVIRONMENTS. DON’T USE
POWER TOOLS OR ELECTRICAL EQUIPMENT IN
DAMP OR WET LOCATIONS, OR EXPOSE THEM TO
RAIN.
