Wood Furniture
Wood displays different grainpatterns depending onwhichway they are cut-for example, the 'medullary ray' which
can appear onoak furniture is amark of good quality timber-these are justcharacteristics of the natural beauty of
thewood.
Some furniture is alsodeliberately aged and rustic.
Wood veneers alsoallow distinctive patterns to be created onsome surfaces, such as table tops and drawer
fronts by the way slivers are arranged.
All timberand veneersurfaces will change colour and mellow overtime. Newfurniture will initially vary in shade
from items that have beenpreviously purchased.
Howtocare foryourwoodfurniture
Dustwith aclean, damp, lint free cloth. Frequent dusting will remove abrasive build up, which candamage the finish
overtime.
Do not use avery wetclothor allow any liquid to contactwith the veneers for alongperiod of time as this can
permanently damage the surface. Wipe up spills immediately.
Do not use any abrasive cleaneror harshdetergent as this candamage the surface of the furniture.
Spray polishes are bestavoided as they containsilicones whichmay spoil the furniture's surface when buildingup
overtime.
Make sure all surfaces are protected from heat and liquids by mats and coasters.
Ensure that amat or pad is placed underpaperwhenyouare writingonthe furniture surface.
Do not place rubber, cork, vinyl or plastic materials onthe wood finishas chemicals within may reactwiththe finish
if leftincontactfor an extended period of time.
Our furniture will endure mosttemperatures inthe home but itis bestto avoid placingfurniture nextto heat
sources suchas radiators or fires. Be particularly careful with solid wood as the lack of humidity caused by home
heating can cause damage suchas warping, crackingor splitting.
Excessive exposure to sunlight can cause fadingof yourfurniture.
Avoid exposing your furniture to any liquids. All liquids should be wiped up immediately withasoft, slightly damp
clothinthe directionof the wood grain. If sticky liquid residues dooccur, they may be removed withadilute
solutionof warm soapy waterfollowed by aclean, dampsponge. The area should then be wiped immediately in the
directionof the wood grainwith aclean, softwhite clothuntil completely dry.
Nail polishremover, hairspray, perfume, potpourri &any otherproducts that contains solvents candamage wood
upholstery finishes.
Safety Instructions:
Neverdrag furniture whenmoving it. Always liftit.
Periodically check all fixings to ensure none have come loose. Re-tighten when necessary.
Please take care whenhandling or moving the furniture as careless handlingmay cause damage or injury.
Furniture can be dangerous if incorrectly assembled. Assembly should be carried outby acompetentperson.
